  • It's the 21st June , and after having a couple of days on the trains where things go wrong, it's got to be third time lucky ... right? We also meet a ma who designs stations for a living, and take a ride on a transporter brdge in Newport. It's our most MAXIMUM VIDEO of the series so far!
    Download the All The Stations theme tune from iTunes here: itunes.apple.com/gb/album/all... (other stores are available....)
    Geoff and Vicki are visiting ALL 2,563 national railway stations in Britain - view the progress map and loads more information about the project on the website at: allthestations.co.uk/
    ROUTE: Hereford - Ludlow - Newport - Cheltenham Spa - Ashchurch for Tewkesbury - Cheltenham Spa - Gloucester - Bristol Temple Meads

    My son Leo just found out how to pronounce Leominster - maximum deflation. I like how the editor showed your footage of being really happy to have got on that bus; then cuts to you looking angry having bailed out at Tewkesbury because the bus was rubbish.
    Would love to see the video of the locomotion commotion in the station at Cheltenham. Maximum commotion. I wonder how many people might have reported you as having seen 'something suspicious'.
    Maximum comment.

    • @jimbomchooch6007
      @jimbomchooch6007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      don't know but feet needs to be replaced with vickishoes and it also needs to be adopted in metric, as in 1 vickishoe is 10 cm, 10 vickishoes is 1 metre and 10.000 vickishoes is 1km

    • @jimbomchooch6007
      @jimbomchooch6007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      actually since a real vickishoe is 20cm, 5 vickishoes is a metre, like a metric shilling 1/20th of a metre

    • @jimbomchooch6007

    Actually, the Newport transporter bridge is not only "one of the few in country", but in the world. Today, there are only ten of those bridges still remaining, of which only six are in operation. I've actually been on one, the one between Osten and Hemmoor in Lower Saxony, Germany. Though I like the German word for it more: Schwebefähre (Flying ferry).

    • @jimbomchooch6007
      @jimbomchooch6007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Flying ferry is definitely a better name than transporter bridge. That's what i like about the germans they say it as it is.

    • @niklaspilot
      @niklaspilot 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been on the one near Rendsburg in Schleswig-Holstein, which is even more incredible in my opinion as it has the "Schwebefähre" underneath and a set of train tracks on top of the bridge!

    Glad you go to go up the Newport transporter bridge, it's such an unusual structure and a great view from the top. You need a head for heights though, as the stairs up are all open and made of thar metal mesh sort of stuff so you can see right to the ground through the steps. Couldn't help but wonder if such structures had all the expense of a bridge but the same inconveniance of a ferry (namely you need to wait for it and you need someone to "drive" it).

  • @roundel52

    Hi! I’m from Tewkesbury and as soon as you started having problems getting to and from our little station at Ashchurch I had to laugh! Sadly you’re not the only ones! The station only reopened as recently as 1997 and frankly they needn’t have bothered. A lot of people I know just drive to Cheltenham and get trains from there as our station is very poorly utilised. Also I happen to work next door to it and I’m constantly amused by the confused looking people who alite there only to discover Tewkesbury is miles away and there is little in the way of transport. Hope your next visit is a bit better lol

    Does anyone take the slightest notice of those "Very important security messages"? Those messages that begin "May we have your attention please" are a signal that there isn't any point listening to it.
    i always think "See it, say it" should finish "bag it, bin it".
