First time i ever heard it, it caught me off guard and I started shaking so hard I thought I had a seizure this man made a original and insane sound from a Bass.. truly amazing wish he were still around today 🙃 god just had to have him tho don’t blame him he’s an incredible artist 🤘🏼🙏🏼
Best/favorite fuckin bass solo I've ever heard. Overload on feels and skill. This and live cliff em all for whom the bell tolls inspired me to pick the bass guitar up over 25 years ago. I hope youre doing well 6 years later and all.
Thank you for posting this! Cliff is the main reason that Master of Puppets is such a groundbraeaking album. Not just an amazing bass player, he was an amazing musician who made the rest of the band better. RIP, Cliff!!
I have to admit that I was convinced by a lot of people that Cliff’s technique was sloppy, but from this I’m convinced now that by the time they recorded this Cliff had decided to stick to the beat while improvising less. He was recognizing that he wanted to be part of the band and not his own act in it. That’s the mark of a good bass player. Sticking to your part while sliding in a few improvisations. Not unlike John Entwistle. Chances are he would have been much like Entwistle later on.

It's sad that this parts is almost inaudible in the original mix. I just heard it in a bass boosted version earlier and learned it ASAP. Cliff wrote masterpieces \m/
I wished that one day. I will own a pair of Bassboss loudspeakers to really experience this sound track. I love this sound track. Sounds great on my Harbingers mls1000 and two s12 subs.
this masterpiece always had that weirdly electronic aura around it; I wish they had switched to hardcore industrial metal in the '90s, and not the hard-rock/FM metal crap they did after 1991
Since this the real master tracks, what your hearing may be the other instruments in the background that cliff was playing to when Metallica recorded MoP.
people used to record on real to real on that every instrument can be isolated also there used to be digital audio thats what was mastered and put on records now everything is recorded straight digital i think
@itsfuntodrink ...And Justice For All, Blackened, Eye of the Beholder, One, Shortest Straw, Harvester of Sorrow, The Frayed End of Sanity, To Live is to Die, Dyers Eve, Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Wherever I May Roam, etc. If you don't think all of Metallica's songs are good then you are not a true Metallica Fan!
Rob is good but he didn't write or do anything memorable in metallica. He doesn't belong in Metallica in my opinion. Jason's backing vocals were amazing and pretty much made Creeping Death and Seek and Destroy a lot better.
+TheCryptCrusader My Friend of Misery has some amazing bass lines that were written by Jason. I agree, Jason WAS Metallica. Rob doesn't really fit into Metallica other than his crazy crab walks. Jason was the energy in Metallica, Cliff was the amazing songwriter and Rob... he does crab walks
When Robert was in audition to metallica, Rob was sitting in a room where there was a picture of cliff looking directly at him, Rob said to himself "If I win this, I will not let you down". So you "metalfan" may shut up. Inform yourself before commenting.
Why everyone likes cliff? , Personally i think his style is something like grunge, he got a nice jobs with metallica, but pmeh, not because he his a finger player and fast he is god or something,
***** Just got to say that you are so right. I wrote something along those lines on the bass track to Master Of Puppets, wow there are so many stupid people on youtube!
@sammymilan1 Well i am not Metallica fan becuase i just like Orion and sanatarium. And for the most part And Justice for all...Dude come on that song freaking suck.
Well i don't have to be a fan to like there song..... it like saying im a fan of iron maiden i heard Run to the hills... i mean that song is just boring and make you want to slap someboy so hard so they just have that slapmark forever
people arguing about who is the best bass player, just calm down and enjoy this work of art.
Let your ears enjoy the sounds of a bass legend in the metal world. From the greatest metal band on the planet.
RIP = RETURN IF POSSIBLE
U can visit perhaps n a alternate universe if 1 Exists haha hehe❤
You just cant avoid the chills at 1:42 . Never

nah bro, the chills at 3:59 is the one
You mean 0:00 🤤
Cliff Burton = Bass God!
+Justin jonston MetalicA = Metal God
Matt Freeman and Lemmy Kilmister laugh at your remark
i'd say bass gods is a pantheon unto itself- steve harris, lemmy, cliff, matt and geddy lee are all within the bounds of "Bass Gods"
+WhyWorry Boy well thanks for the adventure, but... after several videos... i've decided... JAZZ DOESN'T COUNT!!! : )
What's a bass god ? Cliff was taken to help the gods on how to play bass and that's the birth of bass gods.

@@Kreedogger same here, man. Cliff and Steve Harris were and are my main influences and reasons for picking up a bass.
2:43 is such a good riff for the bass
Try not to listen to the bass and listen his fingers tapping the strings even that made sense and sounded good lol
i love that sound for some reason
Thank you for posting this! Cliff is the main reason that Master of Puppets is such a groundbraeaking album. Not just an amazing bass player, he was an amazing musician who made the rest of the band better. RIP, Cliff!!
0:17-1:02, Cliff is The Reaper.
1962-1986*
Cliff killed the Reaper and took his place*
It doesen't matter did he follow the guitar or not because he fucking wrote that song...
Or did the guitars follow Cliff?
From my experience as a drummer in a band, bass tends to follow drums and drums follow bass, the guitars follow both
He played guitar with kirk when they roomed together. The only time he played bass was on stage
@@thomasschmitz868 Except Cliff used to actually practise bass every day for hours...
@@magicsteve5523 depends how you look at it, as a lead guitarist I inevitably think of myself at the top of the world but it varies with the song
This is amazing. He was using effects that never came through in the final mix. Incredible! Thanks for posting.
such a great composition, tones and playing technique.

I wonder if Cliff ever plays on stage with the boys. A ghost like self. That’ll be awesome
I wish he could've lived longer. I was 3 when he died. I can't help but think about all he would've done.

Cliff Burton was to Metallica what John Bonham was to Led Zeppelin. IMO
How do you create these isolated tracks!??
Paul McLaren people get them from guitar hero metallica as it gives .ogg files for every main track in each song
people used to record on real to real on that every instrument can be isolated also there used to be digital audio thats what was mastered and put on records now everything is recorded straight digital i think

Dude, Cliff wrote To live is to die...
No shit
I thought he wrote all the parts but it wasnt arranged or finished and they stitched it together as to finish it as a tribute to him? Could he wrong.
There was an ad right in the middle of the harmony. really irritating. I completely lost my place.
