A work in progress. Keep it up! You're very enthusiastic, and that's great to see, and much better than some of the miserable reenactors that I've met at events over the years!👍🏻👍🏻

Looking great so far! Obviously some stuff needs work, but the fact that you've acknowledged that is a good start. I myself reenact 1st Canadian parachute battalion across the pond, most of our new guys look just like you, fresh out of a depot! And I'd like to share a few tips.
Firstly, netting and scrim make the HSAT look way less silly, even just a net works. Don't worry about cleaning the denison, the natural wear makes it look better, it'll take a while, but it's worth it. Fill those universal pouches! Mine still have spare socks in them just so they look full. Mess tins also go a long way, even if you aren't eating off them, they make the small pack look a lot sharper, even if you only slip them into one of the pockets. Maybe try wearing your trousers lower(With braces)? To just to try and blouse them over the anklets? I'm no expert on post war BDs, so I don't know if yours are a different fit.
You might already know all of this stuff, but I wanted to throw some kudos (and positivity) your way.
Good luck with the impression, here's to open chutes and soft landings!

Thank you! A few of these things I did sort out at victory show, I mentioned while recording that I was going to get a net and scrim, I might have cut that out of the final video, I don't remember, but I have a net and scrim now. I bought a couple of Bren magazines at the show, which I may use in my main pouches or the auxiliary ones. I do want to keep the auxiliary pouches mostly clear so that when I battle, I can use it with my groups Bren mags (we use a blank firing Bren which shoots 9mm, so we need specialist magazines), my main pouch has a foam block in right now. I have mess tins, I do eat out of them at shows, and I did pack them into the haversack for a while, I just fully emptied my haversack for a battle a while ago and haven't had a chance to refill it (since I was wearing mostly desert kit at other shows). I can try wearing the BDs lower, but it is mostly the design. By next season I'll likely have a set of airborne or standard WW2 BDs.

How much research went into putting this together ?

@@jameswilkins8568 I used as many pictures of the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks. as I could find, but there aren't very many with them with their equipment on, many just showed them with smocks and toggle ropes. I also took input from my group, especially for things like the regimental slides which I couldn't see on black and white photos. Most of what the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks. wore was typical airborne kit, minus the parachute. Generally I try to make my kit work from D-Day through to the end of the war, since we don't have a set event we portray most of the time.

@@Pte.Fletcher to be honest mate I’m assuming the group you belong too have basically told you what to wear and what’s okay. But the research is dire to say the least…

@@jameswilkins8568 Okay, I was just trying to give the very basics of what I did for research. If you want it more comprehensive, sure. I have documentation from the MOD of a relative who served in the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks. I have John Howards diary. I have been to Pegasus Bridge multiple times. I have met veterans of the post-war regiments which branched off of the Oxf. & Bucks. (I.e. Green Jackets). I have several other books on the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks., as well as D-Day in general which include what they did at Pegasus Bridge. I have met reenactors from several groups who wear basically exactly the same kit as me. I have listened to some of the audio memoirs of soldiers from the 2nd Oxf. & Bucks. from the IWM, and plan on listening to them all. I have visted the Soldiers of Oxfordshire musuem, Air Assault museum in Duxford, the Pegasus Bridge museum, and the Merville Battery museum.
I got most of my uniform stuff before I joined my group. I joined the group specifically because they do Oxf. & Bucks., not the other way around.

@@SteveMrW I'm sorry for not being able to aford the exact kit. I actually met a veteran today while wearing this, do you genuinely think he cared that my trousers were from 1949? No. If you want to dress up with authentic everything, and you have the money to do so, good for you, go ahead and I won't stop you. The lack of map pocket on my trousers isn't an insult to veterans.
