Learning To Walk Again After Neurosurgery

- I am beside myself with how good I look walking. It feels so challenging but when I look at this video I see myself getting so close to my goal! In such a short time I have gone from wheelchair dependent 24/7 to being able to walk in my physical therapy sessions. Now that being said I have a lot of work to do still in terms of energy. But I have a little over 2 weeks left inpatient to build up my strength and endurance and my hope is to be mostly on a walker by the time I am home. I want to thank my surgeons at Weill Cornell and the staff here at Kessler for helping me achieve mobility again. This is the fastest I've ever gone from a wheelchair to a walker, so it feels like something has permanently shifted in my favor as a result of my big surgery. Thank you all for the love and support I have been receiving, it means the world and helps to keep me motivated and working hard!

I'm no where near this, but I'm starting to walk again after my hip replacement...I'm 49. I'm 6weeks after the surgery and still struggling, with the pain and mobility. I wish you all the best with your recovery, you'll get there!
Your a soldier, I know just where your at I had to learn to walk all over again after a car wreck! It was almost two years before I did I just want you to know your strong your beautiful and beating the odds makes us stronger! I cried and cried I had to have my mom clean me wipe me all that at age 39! It destroyed my spoke completely and I was humbled to the core! I just want you to know im praying for you and your my hero! Takes courage to fight back from a disability I lost my career and live at my parents because of it! At first I hated it and then I realized God put me in that wreck to bless me, it gave me a new look at life and I wouldn’t change it! God bless you!

So I will be posting an in depth video soon but the basic gist is I was born this way and have needed multiple neuro surgeries. We aren't certain if this will be my last time in the wheelchair or not but here's hoping!

What happened
I will be going in depth in a video soon about why I am the way I am disability wise, but Long story short I was born with medical issues that caused me to need multiple brain and spinal surgeries. My previous spinal fusion failed so I had to get a new one. They think my walking is affected by changes in my cerebralspinalfluid as a result of having a condition known as chiari and because of my cranialcervical instability that this Most recent spinal fusion is addressing
