He not only ruined the lives of his victims families but also his own. His younger brother, who idolised him , is now completely broken emotionally and mentally, please pray for him.

@@jadezee6316Rich Bundy didn’t “idolize a serial killer”, he idolized his big brother. The brother that was always kind to him and took him on frequent camping trips. He had no idea what a monster Ted truly was. Ted tore out his heart. If you don’t think he was harmed, you seriously need to work on your empathy.
You can't blame that all on Ted.
Neither of those brothers probably came from a stable home.
Only now so many decades later, I think I may have met Bundy in Miami. If it wasn’t him, it was someone like him. I escaped by jumping out of the car third red light he went silent and cold. The handsome guy I had met earlier was not there. He never said a word or look at me when telling him he made a wrong turn. We wrestled for the passenger door handle (Corvette) until our sweaty hands gave way and I landed on the pavement with one knee. No automatic locks back then. I didn’t report it. I can’t ever forget it.

@@chickenlover657 - I’ve never thought so. I still don’t think so. I spent little time with the man. At the bar, I was with a couple of friends and wasn’t focusing on him. I have a peripheral memory. Him standing to my left and facing my other friends. How well dressed he was and that he was handsome but it wasn’t one on one. He bought us all a drink. It was only after we said we were going to another place that he invited me to go in his car. It was just a few blocks from where we were. We walked to valet and I got in. I don’t think he said anything else after we got in the car. Dark Matter was driving.
In 1970 My friend Vicky Minor stopped coming to our high school classes. I kept thinking where is Vicky? Later I was called into the office to speak with investigators. After a dental appointment Vicky had hitched a ride to school. Her body was found in a field with head trauma! She was 16 years old! This happened in Buena Park Ca. The case has never been solved. She was so friendly and religious. I think she was one of his first victims. So sad for all.

Eric Clapton, like Ted Bundy, grew up believing his mother was his sister.
The same for Jack Nicholson, Bobby Darin, a few other celebrities I can't recall at the moment.
Sam Little grew up believing his dad was his brother.
That "overweight cop" (what a stupid thing to say Johnny) was in good enough shape to run Bundy down, fight him, and single handedly take him into custody!! His name was David Lee and his apprehension that night took Bundy off the streets FOREVER. David Lee is a HERO!!

He's written a few books, one on dealing w/ Rich Bundy's brother.
In a video interview of his much younger brother, who loved Ted and had a very good relationship with him, his brother said that during a visit with Ted, he abruptly sent his younger brother away, which was the first time that ever happened. Ted's brother said that as they waited for the brother's plane to come, he looked at Ted's profile and saw a look of horror and disgust on his face. The brother said that he felt that Ted was succumbing to a murderous "fit" and didn't want his brother anywhere near him when he committed a crime.
So he knew or more likely picked up on something about his brother. It's not an everyday thing to think as your leaving close family is it.

Ted Bundy said In Jailhouse interviews that Pornography played a roll in his behavior yet his lawyer said that was bullshit. I don’t think he was lying, I think what he was trying to say was that it’s like poring fuel on a fire. He had uncontrollable urges and pornography was like smoking Crack for a Meth Head. I remember Ted in the interview pointing at the Camera and saying to parents to keep your children away from Pornography. Pornography wasn’t the cause of Teds sickness but it didn’t help him to control his urges for sure.

He was talking about another documentary one of the first times he met Ted and got to see the monster they had identified that twelve-year-old girl in Florida that was his last victim and said Ted's eyes got all crazy he started sweating and stinking like BO and said you could see the veins under his skin bulging out said it was like this whole physical transformation and that it was scary as hell.
I still have never been able to get over Browne's "ethical dilemma" over whether or not he should notify authorities that they had a known serial killer in custody. I would think an obligation to prevent cold-blooded murder takes priority over attorney-client privilege. Had Bundy been released and murdered again Browne would have been complicit.
It does NOT take priority. No sugar coating. Those are the legal facts.

Browne sucks as a person. How could he do what he did? He should have informed police about who they had!
Not only that, but I hate the way he pretends like he can't stand Bundy but he seems very happy to keep inserting himself into Ted's life so he can cash on on him. 😒

I just subscribed, this was interesting and this is a case that's always disturbed me. I remember I was 16, petite, had long dark brown hair parted down the middle and was going to Southern California to visit my cousins and my mom warned me about this semi nice looking guy who was in the newspapers preying on young women who were kind, vulnerable, matched my body type/appearance and was asking them for help while wearing a cast that was likely fake and abducting and killing them. I was like "oh mom I'll be fine", your typical teen running out the door to hang out with friends and see what mischief we could get into.
We think were invincible when were young, we don't stop to think about the consequences of our actions, many that are careless. I potentially could have been the perfect victim of this cunning and evil man and it's always stuck with me. What these pretty young women and young girls experienced must have been horrific and I can only imagine the sheer terror they must have felt in the presence of this evil.

Telling us the truth? Honey, he's cashing in. He's not doing this out of the goodness of his heart. Also, if you study Ted Bundy religiously like I do, you'd notice the many inconsistencies in his stories. In one documentary he says that after Ted escaped he stole a Cadillac. In another documentary he claims it was a pink convertible. That part about him "throwing up" after talking to Ted, he stole that story from Ann Rule. She said the exact same thing after realizing he was guilty. I haven't actually read his book but I've heard that he wrote something about Kimberly Leach being eaten by pigs. That's total bs. Kimberlys entire body was found and she had been placed in an ABANDONED hog shed meaning there were no pigs. He's full of sh*t. 😒
The Battered Women's Defense can be a game changer for female partners of sociopaths. He can definitely feel good for starting that.

Bundy was no sociopath. 100% psychopath!
A sociopath can hide in society, behave 'normal' around people, dress well etc, whereas a psychopath can't do those things.
Both
Sociopath and psychopath are relative terms. You get diagnosed with ASPD and 1 in 3 people with ASPD fit the criteria for psychopathy.

@@turloughdebhal9274 Bundy scored 39/40 on the Hare Psychopathy Checklist and was diagnosed as a High Factor 1 psychopath.
Ted wasn’t born evil. His early childhood experiences combined with his genetic predispositions made him behave in the way he did.
Yes Bundy was evil. Do you not know what he did and how much he enjoyed it. That's evil and nothing to do with upbringing.
Genetic predisposition literally means being born like that.
Plenty of children who grow up in terrible circumstances don't end up being serial rapist and murderers.

His traumatic childhood experiences and the fact he was likely born of incestual rape were the biggest contributors. That fact you can’t see that is sad.
Just finished this book a few days ago. Really well-written and totally intriguing. I grew up in northwest FL so I knew a lot about TB. But I didn’t know much about the other issues JHB addressed in his book - just incredible. I’m not in a position at this point in my life to be proactive, but I wish my brain had engaged many decades ago.

Bundy's grandfather showed how to torture small animals. Ted learned at age 14 that his grandfather and grandmother were not his parents and his sister is his biological mom. So, no, John Henry; Bundy wasn't born evil.
But he put knives all around a relative who was taking a nap at the age of four.
How do you explain that?

Well we are sure he confessed everything? That's the reason on such monsters i like to have the law approval to use drugs, to make him confess, actually singing like a bird !
Cold case investigators need to consider that Bundy my have started his career before the known cases. For instance, circa last week of June, 1971. Was Bundy in Oregon? Is there a still unsolved murder of a woman in Klamath Falls, Oregon?
Some people and things are so scary that we can handle it. Categoric labeling is the way to handle it, or not. Most research shows that the genetics loads the gun and life pulls the trigger. I don’t think anyone is born evil, or very few. Random events, needs not seen and so on. A tiny change of circumstances in a vulnerable moment in a child’s life and he might have become a neurosurgeon…I have met a few.
there are some interesting videos from Robert Sapolsky about free will. He says "we dont have a shred of free will". When Ted said "I want to be a good person, but just cant" you have to wonder if he was just unlucky - his lack of free will was certainly in the extreme. But Sapolsky is no apologist, he admits that like a bad car, a bad person needs to be off the street. That Ted was allowed to escape twice is quite ridiculous.

I was curious when Mr. Browne was talking about how being a criminal defense attorney is "a dark life". Because I have a lawyer who is a criminal defense laywer, in his own firm. And I like him very much. But i don't know him well. I always wonder what it is like to be a criminal defense lawyer, but have never asked him. We usually talk about other drama or whatever comes up. I do know that he said he took my case and didnt charge me his usual amount of money because I am "likeable". I think he meant that my case wasn't criminal, it was a civil case.

Browne is inconsistent on a number of points in his book and this interview. For example he says Bundy was held under armed guard in a Hannibel Lector type cell in Florida, yet a minute later says Florida officials didn't know who he was and that at most as far as cops knew he'd only committed misdemeanors. So why all the armed guards, etc?
Mr. Browne is a member and senior fellow at his town's local chapter of the prestigious AAL. The AAL is an elite nationally recognized group that is actually named Ass Assassin Legion and are represented by local citizens of towns throughout the United States that produce many local chapters. The Ass Assassin Legion is a prevalent network that is well balanced and evenly distributed across all 50 states.
I’ve never heard of that.
@@dukey19941 Prominent head detectives that reach the same popularity and status, just as Mr. Browne has beeen able to successfully achieve, is because most of these vile serial killers were also among the illustrious alumni alongside these detectives in the pestigious Ass Assassin Legion. The only difference is that these abominations of humanity end up going rogue and are caught by these detectives because the killers do not realize and fail to understand that their is a very fine line between the mentalities of cop and killer. This is an odd dynamic that produces an even more mysterious intrigue that could perpetually be associated with the anomaly known as the Ass Assassin Legion for as long it can exist.

Thats interesting take on it and i would have to agree; Browne is like a real life Dr. LOOMIS........Only id take Michael Myers over Theodore Robert Bundy (Cowell) anyday. Bundy is the ultimate real life Boogeyman. He TERRIFIES me, dead or not... and there are plenty Ted Bundys out there right now.

I read that Bundy used the name “Officer Roseland”. (Time/Life serial killer book). 🤷♂️

Yeah, I heard that in the interview. However, I’m looking at the Time/Life True Crime Series “Serial Killers” book from 1992, and it lists Bundy’s alias as “Officer Roseland”. He posed as this “Officer” from the Murray Police Department while luring Carol DaRonch to his car.
Just Google Ted Bundy/Officer Roseland, and you’ll find plenty of corroboration. It’s even referenced in Ann Rule’s book. 🤷♂️

Kohberger allegedly committed the crime in Idaho, where they still have the firing squad like Urah once had. Now, no one has been executedby firing squad at least since Gary Gilmore in Utah. With difficulties in states trying to acquire the drugs for lethal injection, and the fact that it takes at least 12+ years for appeals to dry up will a condemned man is executed. So I doubt that if or when Kohberger is convicted what will be the form of execution? He could get life without parole but for the murder of 4 young students it heinous enough for the death penalty

No, he escaped from both.
I spent 90 days in jail once. And I can tell you this. I would way rather have the death penalty on me, then life imprisonment. Living in a cage the rest of your life is worse than death.

Furthermore, you are not responsible for your clients actions, nor should your opinion of your client's guilt or innocence play a part in you presenting the best defense possible.
being a defense lawyer is a very dark life. it's up to you to figure out why, and not rationalize it.
@@plasticweapon Where's the rationalization? Rules are rules and you're either a professional or a bum lawyer.
That may be your disposition but it's not his....I can totally relate to John and the war within himself.... this wasn't just another typical bad guy: he was dealing with true evil and he knew it. He had to becareful: if he wasn't, Ted could get in his head and he could loose control.

There is nor a lot of evidence
I don't understand people wanting the death penalty. Social scientists have never been able to prove that it's a deterrent to future acts. If that's the case (non-deterrence) then it becomes purely revenge. It's hard enough to operate justly within an adversarial legal system without that system being based on vengeful ends.
How would you prove that though? Who’s going to go to the statisticians and say “Hey, I had a murder planned out but then I realized I was in a death penalty state and that scared me so much, I changed my mind. Just wanted you to know.” I mean, you can point to things like death penalty states having higher numbers of murders than those that aren’t, but that just brings about the whole “correlation doesn’t equal causation” argument. The only way to know for sure that the death penalty being a possible punishment has stopped anyone from committing murder is if they told you and for obvious reasons, people won’t be overly forthcoming with that information. I don’t agree with the death penalty for a number of reasons but lack of deterrence isn’t one of them, since there’s no real way to gauge that.

@@trickortrump3292 I can think of 2 good reasons it isn't a deterrence, the vast majority of murders are committed in 2 ways, the first is often in a blind rage after a couple finds out their partner is cheating or something and the kitchen knife is produced, in those instances the killer isn't thinking even 5 seconds ahead let alone 5 hours,days,weeks years or considering the consequence at all. The second type is a spouse offing their other half for the life insurance for example. Those murders are planned, and as the killer has planned how they're going to get away with it they have little fear they will be caught so again they are not deterred from Going through with it.
@@trickortrump3292 statistics prove that with the death penalty the murder offending rate went up not down, that's the UK own statistics that soon as they got rid of the death penalty the offending went up or stayed about the same.

Sociopath and psychopaths are relative terms. You get diagnosed with ASPD and 1 in 3 people with ASPD fit the criteria for psychopathy. It’s not as black and white and as simple as just sociopath or psychopath.

The entire Ted Bundy conversation confuses the hell out of me. All these people can say is that he is evil... But it seems nobody has taken the time to actually understand the man.
On the one hand they said he made false confessions to save himself from execution. Then here this guy says he refused a plea deal to save his life.
It just doesn't make sense. Why on earth would he lie about pornography being a catalyst to violence?? He had nothing to lose at the time he said it.
And in that final interview, they turned up without maps for him to show the bodies, and he says clearly he can't explain everything in a matter of hours but he wanted to talk and be understood.
He said on multiple occasions that there was an 'entity' that took over.. but no one explored that either??
Imagine how much society could benefit from actually understanding a deviant human like Ted Bundy?

These defence lawyers know their clients are guilty but choose to defend them. They take the money knowing blood is on their hands, then years later adopt a moral compass and jump on the "sell a book" bandwagon by going on to make more dollars.

Had Bundy got away with his crimes, this defence lawyer would have had another murdered victim to cry about, yet he would be defending himself instead by making excuses as to the death of another innocent person, because of his decision.
