Sewing a Vintage Nightgown

In this video I sew Simplicity 9877 again except this is a shorter version of view 2! The original video featured view 3. Also, this nightgown is a knit polyester with a shimmery touch and the original nightgown was sewn in cotton.

Vintage. I made my junior high home ec sewing project with that exact same pattern back in the last millennium. I guess the exact phrase "junior high home economics sewing project" means I'm vintage, too--I'm okay with that. I enjoyed making that project!

I have own this pattern since it came out ,it has been my go to when ever i need a night gown ,also as house dress,and if you cut it in the center a matching robe just add a couple of inches in the front to overlap,also ruffle sleeves. The pattern is in taters because of the usage but its still has life.

Great job! It turned out so pretty and looks so comfy! I, too, am trying to learn more about garment sewing. My sewing skills are mostly in quilt making and hand embroidery. I found a channel you might like and thought I'd pass along the info. The TH-cam channel is: Catherine Sews. Catherine is a Canadian teacher with a degree in fashion design who teaches sewing to high school students. On her channel she shows us how to upcycle thrifted clothing, how to copy our clothes to have ready made patterns to make new items, gives home decor ideas, and lots more.
