And one of those things Phil does, A LOT. Rushdown mashing. So he eats every single drive move used against him, cuz he refuses to learn. It's a literal skill issue.
He also really likes to do wake up moves, while the enemy oki's with a simple jab on frame 1 when he gets up. + he also likes to use big moves from mid range to get close and the enemy is like "Free DI counter? sure"

I find it amazing that the game places him in platinum rank just because he picked intermediate (iirc?) AND despite losing half his placement fights... And to top it off he complains about other people playing the same character for 9 days while he's just trying out a new one.😂 It surprises me that he doesn't even consider the fact that people actually bothered to play the character for more than 5mins, learn basic combos from trials (which he skips once they get too difficult for him, around intermediate 4 or 5) and sometimes even check frame data from training mode. Fcol, daigo streams have him labbing stuff out with ken figuring out what's safe or punishable on block, practicing combos, links, basic stuff!! Yeah he tends to start over extending, doing wild shit, or just not really watching for anything. When you have the life lead, you have to expect your opponent to do something unsafe because it's kind of the only way they can win. Like a lot of times he gets someone to low health and then they just jump in on him. Sometimes you can tell he predicts it and presses the wrong button, which is fine cause when you're learning a new character you sometimes get confused and hit a wrong button, but then he immediately gets salty and claims the move didn't come out.

It baffles him because people read it so quickly and react to it. Yet, it doesn't come across his mind that some of these people actually DID practice these characters in training mode. He thinks everyone immediately knows everything. "He wants to learn a character by fighting noobs". What an ego on that guy.

Actual basic fighting game knowledge, even in his precious Super Turbo.

Rule of thumb with DSP: If he picks a character and constantly loses he slams it for being trash tier, but if he goes up against somebody using this exact same character and loses he claims that character is over powered.
He's trying to learn a character in ranked matches. There's a WHOLE ASS comprehensive training mode that teaches you everything about the game's mechanics. Stay gold, DSP 👍🏿

If your reaction is 300ms, which is on the higher/slower end, that means you can react in about 18 frames, drive impact is a 26 frame startup. That means if he can't react to a 26 frame move (game runs at 60 fps) and that it's impossible his reaction time is damn near half a second or even slower. Ho-ly crap.
Would probably solve 90% of the problems he's had in his life over the last decade but it's easier to blame the rest of the world and be a bitter victim on level 1 forever.

If you were a former pro fighting game player as claimed, the answer should be trivial: either check the walk up with your own jab or if it's a meaty jab, block it and wait your turn, then either whiff punish their jab if they're mashing out of range or take your turn back if they wait for you to make a move.

Rule of thumb with DSP: If he picks a character and constantly loses he slams it for being trash tier, but if he goes up against somebody using this exact same character and loses he claims that character is over powered.
Because he's more focused on what he's doing and not what the other person is doing

13:22 LMAO, he said it's impossible for him to react to drive impact, if that's the case his reactions are SEVERELY below the average person. If your reaction is 300ms, which is on the higher/slower end, that means you can react in about 18 frames, drive impact is a 26 frame startup. That means if he can't react to a 26 frame move (game runs at 60 fps) and that it's impossible his reaction time is damn near half a second or even slower. Ho-ly crap.

Every character has a 4 frame light attack. They can be chained into each other so all you have to do is block. If they go for a walk up throw, you can challenge with your own jab.
