      @@TEKDAD portable ACs are not the solution if you don't have a way to get rid of the hot air (e.g. if you can't blast a hole in your wall), cause then you'll just heat up your room even more while you think you're cooling. And mobile ACs are seriously dangerous if you have a gas boiler in your house!!!

  • @Primal_Aozora
    @Primal_Aozora 4 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    i had one of these and will tell you now - a cheap 20$ fan does basically the same if not even better.
    This is just a high tech version of the desktop fan but with a higher price tag.
    Its something Apple wishes it had come up with as its a good money spinner for a cheap product.

    The "Cool" naming is there to imply that it cools you down when you're feeling hot and not to cool the room as like an air conditioner.

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know but a lot of customers believe otherwise unfortunately mainly because of the price. Like, at that price, it’s surely cooling for real. I see a lot of comments like this and even some believe the dyson fan is AC.

      IMHO Dyson fans are a lot like Apple fans in that they behave like people in a cult. There is little objective criticism of the products and instead a lot of mindless fawning over the product regardless of the actual quality. It just has the right brand name on it....thus it's "good".

    I had the table top version of this fan (Dyson Air Multiplier AM06 Table Fan, 10 Inches) but I had to return it due to the led display at the bottom being so bright at night, in which this model seems to have the same exact led light as well. The led display light on the table fan version was SO BRIGHT at night that it was a distraction. I mean, it was super bright! Wondering how the led display on this model is at night? Nobody ever seems to talk about the led displays on fans with how low or dim the brightness is at night.

    You can only clean the top part where the air comes out.

    Found mine on the sidewalk! Cleaned the turbine and it works nicely.
    It looks like about 30euros worth of parts for the whole thing. The motor is small and high rpm. Probably the ‘toughest’ part of the build is balancing the turbine before assembly. It has marks on it. The motor is suspended on springs and there is foam on the base to absorb noise.
    Even Though it is very cheap to make, there is quality autocad work beforehand. The fluid dynamics engineers did rather well!
    Now I need to find a remote :)
    Merci !

    You see....this is what I don't like about brands like Dyson. They sell their products predominantly on design. And while good design is nice, so is the quality..... especially for that kind of money. But it seems you are mostly paying for design....a design tax as it were....with Dyson. Especially as it's just a glorified fan that doesn't actually do anything different from a fan you can buy at a fraction of the cost.

    • @TEKDAD

      What disappointed me the most was the build quality. It’s not necessary to have a heavy well built fan but for 400$+ i was expecting more. For example, Apple products are overpriced (except IPad) but at least the build quality is really good and doesn’t feel like a cheap product.

    Great, honest review and a "cool" follow up to your unboxing "bag test" one. I agree with the build quality issues. From Vacs to fans, Dyson should match their high end design and engineering work with quality materials. If you pay a premium you expect more than something a knockoff company can make just as well after patents expire. Glad I found this channel! Plus French Canadian for the win!

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t really push more air than a traditional fan. What I tried to explain is that it works by amplify the air volume. It’s pushing a low volume of air with the ‘motor’ and it’s amplified with the shape of the fan. But the end results is similar with any good fan. I’m talking about Dyson. For the vornado, I need to try that !

    Technically doesn’t any ceiling fan not have a cooling mechanism? Don’t all fans make some noise? All fans to me just seem supplementary to an air conditioner. Like, if you turn your AC off in the summer, but have your fan on...it’s still going to be hot AF.

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Other manufacturer don’t put the word COOL on the packaging to make it look like a more advanced product than a simple fan. Some are mistaken because Dyson sells a HOT/COOL fan that does actually heat.

    Great review. I'm from Europe so I wouldn't know but is French Canadians' English normally like this? It's almost like a different language, you seemed to be even struggling to pronounce and find words at times. Interesting. But overall the content is not bad at all. Thanks.

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It’s not only the accent, I’m not perfectly bilingual also like the majority of the population. Some may have the accent but are using the right vocabulary. Most French Canadians are worse than me however. If you want to listen to a known French Canadian: try George Saint-Pierre (GSP), the MMA fighter. You have Celine Dion also but I think her English Is good now.

      Hah, that's a pity. I listen to one podcast with a F-C guy in his late twenties and he just sometimes misses some a word but the speech was great so I had no idea. Thanks for the education on the matter and a nice tip for listening, your time generally 😊
      Since you are so nice let me also tell you that the new videos are quite something! Great products and great production value. Nice info about your accent but honestly, as a non-native speaker, I wouldn't care even if you stuttered, especially as your subscriber. If you feel like it is a problem, try to think about what is your target audience, age and geolocation.

      I mean, a good tower fan here in Canada is maybe 100-125$. I paid mine like 175$ and I think It included taxes (15%). At that price, yes, it’s not cheap but it’s a Dyson and it looks great. However, I would have never paid the 450$ plus tax here for a new one.
