Possible correction, the d rings on the outside are for the pullouts or future storage bags . There are hooks closer to each end that are for hooking up the underquilt. I'm not 100% confident about that but that's how I hooked up mine. Love the videos! Looking forward to part 2.....lol! Cliffhanger!!!!!! HA!
+Maine hiker Thanks, you're absolutely correct on that. The quilt hooks are actually mounted underneath the D-rings like you described. I should have clarified that.
Single backpacker here, so I'm all good. But if I ever find a lucky lady that likes to spend time hanging in the woods, I'd definitely invest in the bird's nest. I have 1 chameleon, and 1 11ft dutchware hammock. So the bird's nest would be perfect. Thanks for showing them off! Totally love when you and your wife review products. She is a total goof, and you two make a cute couple!
Hey Sintax,. Thanks for making these videos. I have been watching you for a while now because I like your channel. One reason is that I started to buy hammock gear maybe one year after you and noticed that you had bought many of the same gear products I did. Anyway, you need the orange screw and some zing it, maybe some Dutch's hooks and I bought wasps also because I like over kill, to hold down your hammocks. I think the screw is 10 oz and will screw down under your spreader bar. Then attach the dutchware and zing it to the screw and to each end of the speader bar. Trust me it makes all the difference for your tarps. It also is just really nice when your hammock is sitting next to the other hammock and you get in and really don't disturb the person, or in my case, my mutt next to you. Thought I would share this with you because I have learned a lot from you. Thanks dude!
I don't care about the hammocks. But you two (&1/2) are as entertaining as hell. You guys are great. We don't have many trees here in the midwest so we usually tent it. Still, it's an option.
I just got one of these "BirdNest " nets and used it at the Lobster and Lighthouse hang. I was very satisfied with this. I was with my daughter in it and its so much more convenient to have her right next to me like being in a tent but better. Going though two bugs nets to get to her has been a hassle , this is great. The side zips and bottom tray worked out fantastically. Any questions let me know.
I saw Dutch mention on the forums that it was Xenon, which he sells for making tarps as well. His nails on it were definitely one of my first thoughts as well but I'm confident to give it a try for two reasons. 1) Luckily, Denali's nails stay relatively blunt because I regularly take him out on some rather long walks, often on pavement. 2) While this is my first experience with Xenon, I am familiar with his similar Argon Sil material which my pack cover is made of. I've smashed and rubbed that thing on rocky terrain quite a bit over the years and it's still going strong. All that being said, I'll definitely post updates if needed.
The bugnet works good with the hammocks! I just got back from a short overnight trip with the dog and lost most of my video footage. My Sony camera showed an error code and I can't find anything on my SD card. I switched cards at the campsite and that footage worked good. It looks like my viewers will only get a short part 2.
Wow man that is awesome it's probably way too expensive for me but great product and review thank you you can take them both with you on your trip and try one out one night and the other out the other night lol
I'm excited to hear you guys are getting out! hope the trip was/ is enjoyable. Looking forward to the video. P.S. What happened to part 2 of Tennessee?
For the Birds Nest, Did you guys both try to laying in the hammocks while the dog was below? I got the Birds Nest immediately when it was release but I could not get it to work. I had to hang the hammocks very low in order to get the bottom a few inches above the ground when empty. But being that low, when I got in, my back was contacting my dog even when he was laying down. There was no room for him to walk around and he's only 40lbs. It was also very difficult to get up and out from the hammock because it was so low. If I hung the hammocks at chair height, the bottom was so high up that the net would have to support the dog and it felt like it would tear. Also I felt the zipper door were not easy to enter or exit. Did you experience any of these problems. Any solutions?
Are you using it with just a single hammock? With the spreader bar, it opens up a space down the feet end that seems like a potential lounging spot for Denali, but we'll have to see how it goes on an actual overnighter. Thanks for the feedback, we'll keep that it mind when we film our overnight trip with it.
Not in my experience, but some people do opt for a double layer hammock for that very reason. In my case, I always have some sort of underquilt as well, which adds further protection.
I'm all about cool stuff, but at some point you just gotta say 2 man tent with rainfly or no rainfly option. Maybe a tent with vestibule for Denali. I'd also hate to see the total price tag on that rig. A ton of money just to keep your 'solid bottom' off the ground.
Great video, thanks. If you haven't already, checkout DD Hammocks XL tarp, it's what I use over my double hammock hang for my wife and I. A bit heavy, but it eliminates carrying two tarps, and gives a lot of coverage. www.ddhammocks.com/

Sara is a big ham on camera LOL... She's great. Love having her in the videos.

If only the perfect woman would show up as fast as Dutch's shipping. At least you've got an awesome hammock for now. :)
sintax77 hahaha exactly! Between dutchware and hammock gear, I'm comfy and comforted.
I’m custom ordering a woman from Dutch. The guy can do anything!

Oh the ADKs are the best! And you guys are awesome thank you for the videos.
I love Sarah in this video. She's hilarious.
Sintax, your lady is a cutey and a hoot...your dog looks so much like my departed Jaz (my avatar). You are a fortunate fellow.
You figured it out. Sara.
What is the bottom material made of? Could you see the dog's nails potentially piercing it?

Do you keep and pack them together?
Wow man that is awesome it's probably way too expensive for me but great product and review thank you you can take them both with you on your trip and try one out one night and the other out the other night lol

It's coming :) Backpacking trip vids take a lot longer to edit than vids like this, which I'm throwing up as I edit BSF pt2
Thanks for sharing bro. Very informative videos man.

We used 2 Chameleon hammocks and the spreader bar. I'm very curious to see how it works for you.

Picture's worth a thousand words. Thanks, man - I'll let you know how it goes.
Why did you choose the hexon 1.6?
At 6:40 in was Sara kissing Denali or....
hahaha
Why did you decide to get denali a hammock vs the birds nest? Also what do you think about the mld bug bivy underneath your hammock for denali?
The Sass from Sara never gets old . Did I here her snort at one point?
Awesome!
GREAT VIDEO!
You guys are hilarious! Great video.
can the bugs get you through the hammock?

nice review, good content, but dying laughing! ya'll enjoy~!
2 hammocks 1 tree? Picky I know, but isn't it 2 trees? Still, interesting bug net options.
Sara farted at 2:19. Or maybe it was Denali but even if it was I would still say it was Sara.
Adirondacks Baby!!!
I think Denali tried to steal the show, maybe he wants his own channel?
that laugh,,,make it go away!
