If you recall back on Namek Gohan had stolen Vegeta's Dragonball that was hidden under the water. Vegeta was looking for this dragonball and discovered it was gone and realized that the "watch" Gohan had was actually a dragon radar. This enraged Vegeta and he began screaming so loud that Trunks seperate timeline Trunks was able to hear it. In that scene Trunks even said, "Daddy?"
The park ranger joke is a reference to a 2014 interview where Toriyama explained what happened to 17 after the Cell Saga. He became a park ranger, married a zoologist, and had 3 kids with her. (One kid is biologically his, the others are adopted)
They said in their various commentaries of this video that Piccolo pronouncing it right for once is supposed to be a subtle hint that Gohan is a bit off his rocker in this before they make it obvious in the later scene
This episode was one of the best foreshadow to the original series In this one, Android 17 said he wanted to be a park ranger And in the most recent series which is Dragon Ball Super He actually becomes one and it is canon
The best part is that it was unintentional. They made this several years before that Dragon Ball Super arc aired. Now, the callback to it in episode 60 WAS after it, though.

Which just begs the question. If that's how the Trunks of our timeline got his sword, then how did Trunks of the future timeline acquire his? Because the events of Wrath of the Dragon would've never transpired in his timeline due to the lack of Dragon Balls.

I cant seem to find that super duper extended history of trunks anywhere but Im just going to assume its most likely a compilation of all the DBZA....since Dragon ball See is the Extended history of trunks....technically...so it was probably just a mega compilation...I think
