I recently completed last wish for the first time and gotten all of the warlock armor pieces, and based on that lore, when Oryx died, Riven became King of the Taken, and the taken became extensions of her will throughout the system. I'm not at all surprised that a Might of Riven would be in the ascendant plane around the leviathan. What is surprising is that one would exist despite Riven being untook after her death. However, if you read the armor lore, Savathun Wished to take up Riven's strings and become her new master, and said wish might still be in play despite her being untook. You said exactly what I was thinking!!! Whatever dark creature is currently watching us, it is allowing us to grow stronger, so that when/if we finally meet, it hopes to devour us and satiate it’s vast appetite.
I honestly just thought about this: Bad Juju is both bomb and sword logic. When you go on a killing spree, you get stronger and then release that strength, going back to square one. It’s also bomb logic, because it requires multiple things to happen for you to kill. It’s a never ending cycle of death. Your gun is your sword, and you kills are components for your bomb.
Come home from a long 12 hour day of fishing to some leftover Mexican food and a nice cold snow cone to open up this app to see a new LORE VIDEO. Just got to say I was pumped

Interesting point at the end about being fed so that we may make a greater tribute. I cant help but wonder more about Calus. If he has seen the darkness and is perhaps its “ambassador”. It is even more intriguing how he continually “feeds” us and tells us to grow fat from strength...
At 2:10, the story about the three queens in the three nations is brought up to represent the sword logic. I'm probably not the first to notice this, but did anybody else notice the similarities of the first queen writing a great book, like oryx writing the books of Sorrow, the second Queen building a great tower, and in Shadow keep we see that Scarlet Tower and it is supposedly tied to Savathun, and then the third Queen raises a great army, where as Xivu Arath is known as the aspect of war between the three siblings.
Alot of the stuff we are getting recently, at least to me, has been hinting at a few things; 1. Something BIG is going down in the Hellmouth. (Other than the obvious Shadowkeep stuff) 2. Our guardian is starting to use weapons of Light and Sorrow. (Lumina and Bad Juju for example) 3. Eventualy even our Guardians own powers will reflect this balance of Light and Dark, or as I call it... The Grey. (See lore book "For every Rose a Thorn", chapter "Revelations and Invitations"
from the lore tab on the weapon, it sounds like whatever is at the top of the ascendant realm is something we currently have no clue about, since toland says "Higher than even I, sailor upon the Sea of Screams that I am, can yet see." If Toland doesn't know much more than what is essentially gossip, how would we guardians know what this thing at the top is?
I got chills when i ran into the Mights of Riven. The wish we allowed her to grant spread to more than just the dreaming city, didnt it. We messed up BEYOND our grasping
By that Logic Xivu Arath, the war god, shall be the final queen. The Queen of Armies. Wherever there is war is the court of Xivu Arath. And I can Imagine that. She needs no magic, no trickery. Just pure, unbridled might. And if savathun dies, She will be the one remaining god of the hive, and thus the entirety of the hive with tithe to her and her alone.
I have a theory that all the enemies we see in this quest were ones that were once killed but resurrected by whatever is on the moon that's bringing back our strongest enemies. It's not beyond reason that something that can bring things back to life might be able to move them to a specific place in the ascendant realm, or even allow the resurrection on the essence tied to the bones found on the Bad Juju.
700K?!?! My boy Byf should easily have over 1 million subs!!!! Thank you Byf for ALWAYS delivering quality content and for keeping us ALL in the loop!!! #LoreDaddy
I find it really interesting that the Taken Cabal has a title, "Born of the Hellmouth". Oryx's reach didn't really make it to the Moon of Earth. Although his influence did make it to Luna through Crota, his actual Taken powers did not. So, under this premise, it's safe to assume that Mant Yút is a new Taken general. Considering his title, it's also safe to assume that Shadowkeep has something to do with a Taken presence on the Moon. Right?
We must not be controlled by our hubris and never underestimate any threat that faces us and we will prevail if we keep this in mind. Also byf love this video.
Gonna be pissed if Toland doesn't show up in full bodied form in the witch queen dlc. Gods I hope he's gonna be the one to teach us the new Darkness subclass!!!
We hear a lot about the sword logic, but Mara Sov’s plan to overcome the hive gods, or darkness is through a logic of her own, known as the bomb. The bomb logic is so many intricacies, or pieces designed towards a criticality. It takes time to assemble, giving the sword a chance to defeat it. Lore entries: _She has been thinking of a logic of her own, of secrets and hidden designs. A sword is everywhere edged, but the pieces of a bomb do not look at all like weapons until they are assembled._ _By the bomb, I mean that way of being that is complex and schematic and that must attain a criticality to attack. The way that is made from new things and that triumphs by the arrangement of intricacy. This way is known to those who study themselves. Take any component of the bomb in isolation, and you will say, "What is this? I cannot understand its purpose." Yet in it is the possibility of a fire."_
15:45 I believe this is more an example of the truth of the dark. What the dark takes, the dark keeps. There isn't some foolish notion of "sole propriety" for to the dark, as there is no such thing as a sole being to the dark. Oryx took riven yes, but it was to the darkness that Riven belonged to. Riven and Oryx are gone, stolen from the dark by the light. But their tools, the dark can still find useful.
Sooo Toland is a disembodied soul at this point. We seem good at catching those & putting 'em in guns. Might be a good idea to catch one & put it into a exo frame since we have access to Clovis Bray's craziness. Just sayin'.
Maybe that’s what the new red area in Shadowkeep is: a big ol’ Hive factory prepared just for us to go through and have our essence consumed through those that we’ve already defeated, hence all the shadow bodies. Maybe there’s a psychological aspect to the process.
I was speculating on this with clan mates: I'm not convinced that Riven isn't messing with us. Toland can be quoted as saying "one good death deserves another" during the Other Side mission. This is a quote from Riven during the Last Wish raid iirc. Also Riven can impersonate anyone who still lives. Does Toland qualify here? Is it Toland speaking or Riven? Or is it all just more Savathun trickery? Also can the Beast Magic ornament be taken seriously from a lore standpoint? Cause really: are we sure those aren't Ahamkara bones? So many questions lol. I can't wait to see how Bungie unravels all of this.
I believe the royal secret using death as a chrysalis could refer to Mara Sov. Having the secret of the awoken with her throne world being a place where if she dies, she regenerates.
When you receive the quest part to go to the ascendant realm. Under the quest it says “Sounds like Ahmakara magic to me” - Ghost My theory is calus is an ahmakara above ahmakara and tells us he needs our protection but truly wants to consume us. Also we have plot armour so get rekt enemys
Anyone have any idea why Byf's videos are never available for background play when they're new? They're the only videos I've noticed this with. Love your stuff!
I've had a theory for awhile and this just gave me the slight bit of evidence that I needed to actually justify talking about it, the concept is, the worm gods are the worms of past beings who held a symbiosis with the worms. It would explain why some of the worm gods are weaker than others, i.e. Xol, perhaps he was spawned of a lesser being. And the evidence? "when i witnessed a royal secret turn death into a chrysalis." What if Toland speaks of the worm of Oryx? What if that chrysalis was created when we defeated Oryx, and left his worm to feed upon his immense strength, what if it is the next worm god? Considering Oryx had the power to slay Akka, there's no telling how powerful a being would be if created from the Taken King. Of course this is all just a silly thought, with little backing it; little that i know anyways. Unless there's something more you could add to it, oh reader mine.
You know, now that shadowkeep is out, this Pyramid that Toland talks about is most definitely the darkness. Also, the darkness wanting us to be more powerful so we can feed it later explains why the darkness let us escape with the artifact instead of just mercing us then and there
The last bit about being strengthened to be sacrificed makes me thing that calus is actually on the side if the darkness, or at least thinks of he feeds us to the darkness then he might be protected from destruction
Judging by the Lore we seen he has no plans to protect himself from destruction, he plans to die too as the last living being in the universe. His space suit walk into that darkness at the end of the universe clearly instilled him with a belief that death is the final answer and he's indeed a herald of the darkness.
Here one take, like the Taken king story, we killed oryx in normal plan and then the hive ascendant plans. But bad juju was destroy in our normal plane and not the ascendant. When we went to the ascend plane we recovered it again it. Since it base on hive it must to tithe to the sword logic, hence why it always hungry.
I really hope that Destiny eventually evolves to have multiple Guardian factions. Calus wants us, the Ascendants want us, the Vanguard wants us. I want to have a choice to where my loyalties lie.
The description of the opulent duelist Mark (menagerie titan mark) says that “the novenary, the Awoken Queen, the sad, strange little man on his rickety boat... believe they’ve seen the [end of all things].” I assume the novenary means the Nine, and the Awoken Queen is obviously Mara Sov, but the third I’m unsure of. My guess is that it would be Toland, given that he is often described as sailing the sea of sorrows (or whatever it’s called), but I’m still not sure. Any thoughts?
See when I first played the game and did the taken king I was like what why not take the throne so then we wouldn't need to constantly kill other hive powers who want to take the thrown
@@ExoticBear-o5u Yeah, of course there's always the risk of being corrupted by that power but given that it was the PLAYER guardian who canonically defeated Oryx, who's light is effectively 15 super suns chilling in a person, I'm sure we could've very easily taken the throne and gained a powerful new source of manpower, given that the taken probably dont get tired, we'd be able to do all sorts of menial tasks at a speed never seen before.

Savathun took Riven. Why do people keep saying it was Oryx...
Buraku Because Oryx took Riven when he breached the Dreaming City.
Savathun was gifted Quiria- the Hydra that copied Oryx and his ability to take.
Know the story but byf's telling still gave me chills.
Just got Bad Juju tonight :D
Sooo Toland is a disembodied soul at this point. We seem good at catching those & putting 'em in guns. Might be a good idea to catch one & put it into a exo frame since we have access to Clovis Bray's craziness. Just sayin'.
I need a weekly dose of Byf's voice in order to stay afloat
Another BANGER video by byf
YOU SAID HER NAME BYF! I love it.
I'm glad somebody decided to get my story straight.
Another great one, hope u feel better soon
the lore on this is insane this might be peak Destiny in terms of story
So THAT'S why Calus wants us to grow fat from strength.
Under the quest it says “Sounds like Ahmakara magic to me” - Ghost
My theory is calus is an ahmakara above ahmakara and tells us he needs our protection but truly wants to consume us.
Also we have plot armour so get rekt enemys
0:16 Byf: "Throat is still kinda doing it's thing"
*Jez eyes*
After reading the secret message from Bagel's shattered throne solo run, i think we get a pretty good idea who's at "the top"
Guardians: _Find their way into the King's Cellar, free the light he was going to sacrifice, etc._
Toland: excuse me what the fuck?
Anyone else ready to see Byf talk about the second part of the Last Word and Thorn saga? Because I most definitely am...
Wait byf has a 4 vid per week schedule I didnt know that and I think you should take a break after solstice byf
Anyone have any idea why Byf's videos are never available for background play when they're new? They're the only videos I've noticed this with. Love your stuff!
Love you byf keep up the good work
Thank you for this byf
Straight away, chewing through Red Legionary Ads.
Hey Byf have you read the lore tabs on the Menagerie armor? It seems to be a interesting read.
So a question, if one of us HAD taken Oryx's place as the taken king, would that guardian then command the taken freely?
Watch Toland do these sick sword loop combos while the guardian eats pizza and yell wahoo.
2:15 alright so basically savathun is gonna make a huge army oh damn
Ah doctor how's the dark aether treating you?
