We played this song at our wedding over 6 years ago.. it was perfect for us, as we were childhood sweethearts but my parents moved us to Georgia from Ohio, back in those days there weren’t cell phones and long distance was expensive, so we lost touch. We’d both grown up and gotten married and in different relationships, and each of us had children..7 years ago, while going through a divorce, I swore I was done with relationships! My childhood sweetheart and I became friends from Facebook and from the minute he took me in his arms, in the middle of a truck stop ( yes he’s a trucker) I knew I was home! He’s what I had been missing my whole life!

My first love was also a trucker! We met when I was 18. He married and lived life like an act from a play. Played the part but didn’t love her. I’m 45 now, they’re separated and we are dating this past 5 months. He just continues to say ‘I’m home’ when he lies with his head on my shoulder. I’ve never married, dated guys, trying to find that feeling I had with him and never found it. In a sense I was playing a part too. I have always loved him, even when we disagreed or i got frustrated that he was in the most miserable of marriages. We were out recently and someone asked ‘is this your first date?’ When we said no, we’ve been friends for over 27 years the guy was shocked. He said the laughs and chatting out of us was fantastic. Maybe we’ve saved the best for last?! ❤
