Greetings from Australia, I bought one of these radios, black face about 12 months ago, it's like new. I took your tip and checked battery compartment, it's clean so I removed them to preserve it. My radio has the optional power supply and all the filters.... Lovely radio... Thanks for the video. 73 Anthony
I bought my 107M 40 years ago, it was second-hand then! been in storage for 38 years, but gave it dust off, fitted a G5RV & back on the air! works as good as new. don.t know why I ever gave this fantastic hobby up, lovely to be back, thanks for sharing 73s G4PFT
Hello! Good you got it going again. Make sure there is no old AA batteries in the internal battery holder (for the memory backup). Reason I mention it is because most of these old FT-107 radios suffer permanent damage during long term storage, because the owner forgot to remove the two AA batteries. If the radio does not have the optional memory unit, it is a non-issue because there is no need for a backup battery in that case. Cheers.
@LifeIsTooShortForQRP thanks for the tip, f I must have taken them out or there wasn’t any in to start with as the battery housing was empty! Cheers Jim
Hello my Friend, Wonderful Vintage TRX, I always dreamed of these Radios, more than 40 years ago. I loved the 901-DM, 902-DM, 277-ZD, and a little older the FT-102. A whole era !!! I own an FT-707, full line, bought 100 € on an electronic purse ... a great deal ... even without the microphone. Thank you so much for sharing. Be well and take good care of your loved ones. 73's of F-15413 Bernard in JN38IT
I've had one for many years, mine has the external power supply with speaker. I replaced a load of diodes some 20 plus years back as some of the older ones had developed a noise problem. Each diode I replaced, I powered up and the noise level was dropping until all had been changed out and made a nice quiet radio. Shame they never made this radio with a general coverage receiver. A local ham just gave me one of these with the external speaker and power supply at our ham fest yesterday. I just checked the AA battery holder and there is a little corrosion around it but nothing detrimental.
Hi that's a really nice radio you've got there I've never actually seen a white or cream coloured radio before so that is highly unusual to actually see if you get what I mean mate OK but it's a fantastic radio and really sensitive on the recive when you tuned around the band in the video but it was all very interesting to me. Thanks and best 73's to you Stephen M3SNV 73's.
Yes, it is a great radio. I sold this one a long time ago but I regret that now. Because these radios are hard to find in good condition. I saw a really nice one for sale on eBay recently, from a Japanese seller, but he was pretty expensive with it so I passed. If you buy one, there are two things you need to be aware of: 1) Make sure you have the later version that has the WARC bands (like the one you see here), the earlier models does not have that . And 2): there is an AA battery holder inside, as backup for the memory unit. It might contain an old battery. These radios usually have been in storage somewhere for many years, which means the battery disintegrates, leaving a huge mess inside, beyond repair. So if you buy one, make sure you ask the seller to take off the top cover and send you a photo of the inside. You do NOT want a radio that might look nice from the outside, but completely corroded on the inside.

I've never seen that one. Nice color scheme.
I have one of the white face ones as well, and they're beautiful, high performance rigs.
Been looking for one of these for over 10 years :(
