Just what I needed. Started using Resolve for the first time and I'm already in love. Can't wait to fully take advantage of its power. It's content like this though that is continuing to push me away from Adobe until I never look back.
I'm glad you found the video useful. Resolve is great! I hope you continue to enjoy learning all about it. I'm currently still using both Resolve and Adobe, ideally It would only be one or the other but a lot clients for me are using Adobe projects.
Great explanation. I didn't know how the Outside node worked. Today I had been working on a project that required a few steps but wasn't going well. The Outside Node solved the all the problems I was having. I subscribed. Take care.
I have been using resolve for some time now, and even I can't remember what all the nodes do from time to time, this video is perfect. It only took 5 mins for me to refresh my memory and damn was it effective!
Hi. I was actually trying to find resources about the node keys you mentioned in the beginning (Key input and Key output blue colored). Do you have any other videos about this? I want to know more about it.
Daniel Grindrod Of course You very welcome my new friend Daniel !! 🎥💫 keep going !! ✨✨ If You have a moment pls stop by to my youtube channel “Optical Power” let me know what do you think 💭 I would love to have your advice Thanks ! 🙏 Kader.🎥
hi, how can i make it so that a node only affects the previous node? example: i am in the color tab. node 1 is film grain and node 2 is blur. i only want to blur the grain, but not the entire video.
Came here looking how to apply the same corrections to two nodes, without manually inputting them on each (have two node that have polygons, as I could not figure out how to add multiple polygon areas to one node), but do not feel it helped. Maybe it was not covered, I really have no idea.
Ive got a split screen thing going on in my video.... But I can only access one node for one of the vids! So frustrating! How do I select one of the OTHER vids on the screen to manipulate its nodes??
@@danielgrindrod first of all thank you for responding, yup the drop down option with the right click aware of that too, but I have seen lot of creators who are teaching nodes like yourself... were just clicking their mouse and a new node was appearing out of nowhere, without the right click option and alt-S ... cause I saw their mouse cursor click and node appeared. Or am I living in fools paradise?
Coming from the world of photography I am still so lost after watching this video. I'm so used to how a program like lightroom or photoshop works for color correction. This node thing feels so overwhelming I really don't know where to begin. Any tips for a true beginner to color grading? A lot of the terminology even seems different.
I understand what you mean, the Resolve workflow was overwhelming to me at first also. My main advice would be to take it slow. Start learning with just simple corrector nodes first and then you can move on to some of the advanced ones. If it helps, you can think of each node as a layer or slider. On the Black magic Design website, they have lots of free training and even tests you can do. If you're serious about learning Resolve, it might be worth considering a paid course from a reputable and certified trainer such as Ollie Kenchington. There are a few big snake oil salesman trying to sell color grading tutorials on TH-cam, I would just be careful and avoid those. There are also forums such as liftgammagain which you may find useful and the color correcting/ resolve sub reddits.
So what exactly are shape nodes/nodes/fusion tap used for? I've watched 3 videos but still don't understand the eli5 version of what they do precisely. I know it's some kind of movement or something but other than 0 clue.
I don't do any work in Fusion and so I won't pretend to be an expert here. The best place to look to find out exactly what certain things do is in the Resolve manual which can be found on the Black Magic Design website. There's a video by Chris' Tutorials that might be useful if you haven't watched it already. Sorry I can't be of more help here!
I am editing one clip, and spliced them since camera exposure changes, however when I adjust one node spliced clip from the same clip all of them adjust as well, so the over exposed are supper exposed (all of this on one clip). Basically all the clips show the colored rainbow box on the clip numbers. Its hard doing compound clips one by one. Help......😅😅 ty ty ty
I'm not sure if I fully understand what you mean but if exposure changes have carried over, are you sure you haven't accidentally copied them? you could try keyframing the adjustment over the exposure change, rather than splitting the clip intro two. Sorry, that's not much help!
How do you move the end node, the one with the one green dot at the beggining and end connecting all nodes. I can move other nodes like serial, layer, etc but not this node
Nevermind I got it, in case anyone else is having the issue, I changed it from clip mode to timeline mode on the top of the node window/tab to get more real estate when there's a bunch of nodes
Nevermind, what I did didn't fix the issue. I want to move the source(mediain1) but I can't So best thing which is not great is right click and choose clean up node graph, which still doesn't help if there's 15++ nodes, so the node graph is still messy
Thanks for your feedback. I try to find a balance as some people prefer short and quick videos, while others don't. Personally, I like to use the speed option in the TH-cam player if a video is too quick or slow for me.
Thanks for the vid but I am as still confused about nodes. Will have to continue watching other videos on this. You need to clarify on an even more basic level what nodes actually are.
Hi Scott, thanks for the feedback. They are simply containers that can house various adjustment or effect attributes, these can be used in between the input and output single. I hope that helps. This is a bief piece copied from a Nodes vs Layers article: "A node is a singular level inside a node based software. This singular level can be anything from a video to an image to a solid. Nodes in groups are called networks. Nodes can contain their own networks. Effects like blur and color correction are their own nodes. All you have to do is connect the blur node to the node of whatever you want to blur. If you want something else to have the same blur, just connect the blur to that as well. One change to the blur will affect both nodes if they are both connected. Unlike layers, you don’t have to change the blur for each layer. This is important for big visual effects shots where you can have anywhere from ten to one hundred nodes or layers. If you decide you don’t like the blur on one node, just delete the connection to that node. The blur will still continue to affect all other nodes."
@@danielgrindrod Thanks! One thing you might address in a future video: when I start out there is the big empty box on the interface where the nodes will be. Does it make any difference where in that space you place the node? I watch videos and one person puts it up high, another down lower, etc. No explanation.
This is so confusing and for me going way too fast no way this is for beginners not sure why people don’t talk a lot more about what nodes even are. I learned nothing because I still don’t know why you would even use a node.
You say "There's a free version" as if the free version is not a BEAST of an editor, haha. Resolve is great, I recently did the switch from premiere and I got here from @Brady Bessette
Ha true! it has to be the best free NLE out there. I've used the studio version for so long, I often forget just how capible the free one is. Ah that's great to know, Brady's awesome!
your videos are true gem on internet , better than most of the color grading videos i 've watched
That's great to hear, thank you for watching! I hope they've useful for you.
There's something wholesome about your content. Very concise. Thank you 🙏🏿
You are most welcome and thank you for the kind words 😀

Thanks. That wipes away some of the mystery behind the notes. Fresh converter from premier Cc to DR. Color grading seems like a mystery at this point
I think it's the same with most things, the more practice you get, the easier it becomes. I'll be doing plenty of more DR tutorials when I can =]
That's clear. Thanks for explain about node.
You are welcome!

Sir is there a way to click on the mouse and create a node than alt-s?
Yes, if you right-click on your mouse and select "add node", it will show you the variety of node options.

How can I send you an email I love your tutorial. I’m also looking for a colorist for a quick three minute project.
Hey Shaun, glad you liked the tutorial. All of my contact details are in the description if you would like to get in touch 🙂
Hey bro. Nice to see you making videos.i want to collaborate with you and also make new videos duo. Are you agree to do so?
Neat Video - but WAY too fast in style. Not ideal at all for beginners. Good effort though.
