I've figured out why it's called MAPA. I think there are two meanings for this. MAPA is a Tagalog word for MAP which guides and leads us to where we are supposed to go, also MAPA is a combination of MA(mama/mom) and PA(papa/dad), it means MAma and PApa are the ones leading us to the right path.
Just for a cherry on top, you'll noticed that the message for the Mother revolves around how you view the world (Eyes/MAta). And the message for the father is the appreciation of how to stand on your own (feet/PAa)
This song is very inspirational to me. Every lyric strikes me in a way. When they emphasized "Mama" (Mom) as the "Mata" (Eyes), they meant the one that showed you what life may bring. The eyes that makes you see the bigger picture. The eyes that cries, that smiles and that gives the perspective to the young ones as a mother teaches her son what is what. When they emphasized "Papa" (Dad) as the "Paa" (Feet), they meant the one that taught you how to walk and stand your ground. The feet where you started your first steps. The feet that stands up no matter what life gives you, that brings you to wherever you can be and that brings you back to where you came from. In a sense, you need the "Mata" and the "Paa" to navigate yourself to wherever you have to go, which was what your Parents have always taught you. That no matter what, you have that certain Map back to where you're from. It broke me when I listened to the dad lyrics because, when I got into an accident that caused my leg fracture, my "Papa" really did become my "Paa" and I am always grateful for what he did for me.
Warning: Long Message ahead. Message below aims to answer some of your questions you have in mind. Hope this helps. (1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) (2) Mapa = Map (English) (3) MaPa = Mata and Paa (Eyes & Feet) (4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this. This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes everytime she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in. Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us. In the Filipino culture (or prolly in other culture), we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still, we want to serve them and it’s time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the tiresome days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. There’s this Filipino saying “isusubo nalang nila, ibibigay pa sayo” This can be translated as our parent always put us first. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here. This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family. This masterpiece deserves to be heard around the Universe. This song deserves to be sang only by SB19 in different language respectfully. This Love letter hits us Filipino the most because it’s on the original language. The world deserves to hear this on their own language. Petition for our boys (EsBi) to do so. And hey, Watch out for the Easter eggs in the ending Map.
It's just a nice feeling that a Filipino artist like SB19 is highly appreciated by people of different race. We just wish that artist all over the world will make music such meaningful like 'MaPa. ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm currently on SB19 reaction video marathon and decided to rewatch your RV to this. I was casually scrolling thru comments to reminisce MAPA's emotional era and omaygaaad! I did not even know I got hundreds of likes from this comment a year ago?? And a like from you too?!!! Thank you, and congratulations for getting tickets to #WYAT tour! 🫂💙
Dang.. Like mine.. I didn't have a chance to meet my dad, my dad died when I'm still in my mom's womb.. If I ever give a chance to meet him.. I would hug him tight and thank him so much.. Thats not because of him and mom.. I'm not alive in this world.
I cried so hard when Josh sing his part because the fact like what this comment say that he never saw his dad, and his part is about dad. Josh is a strong guy
You know what? Some foreigners reacting to Filipino songs, they are just trying to click bait us because they know that we love showing out our culture and are very proud of it. But this time, you can tell that he is reacting from his heart.. Even I did cry..
I'm so sorry for your father's recent passing. It's such a beautiful thing how music can connect us! Pablo, who is the group's leader has written and composed this song and some lyrics written by members.
Sorry for the loss of your Dad! There’s a saying that parents raised you well if you make them feel how much you love them in the end! No amount of success or money will make up for that. Love your parents! They were there for you during your first breath and we should be there during their last.
Man this song hits me to the core, especially I wasn’t able to pay back my mum. I was just started working overseas then a few months she passed away. There are so many things that I wanted to give to her right now but can’t anymore. My msg to all, tell and show them you love em, you care for them, and even if your busy drop a call. Seeing them smile is priceless. A note for you “We are so busy growing up, that we often forget they are also growing old”.
Bro, your comment really caught my heart. I am about to work overseas and I was planning to buy my mom and my dad a decent house that we can really call as our own because we never had a decent house. You're absolutely right. We are actually racing against the time that's left for our parents. And we should give them the very best that we can give while they are still breathing. Thank you brother for reminding me about this precious thought.

I can't imagine Josh and Ken singing their parts live, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad. He had to fight for his life on his own. While Ken's grandma who stood as his parent, just recently passed away and he was not able to see her for the last time before she died. 🥺

Message of this song is beautiful in Filipino. "Tahan na" or "ta'n na" is not simply stop crying in Filipino. It is a phrase exclusively used by parent/guardians. You say "tahan na" to your kid to tell him/her "it's okay/I'm hurting too when I see you cry/your Dad/Mom is here now, no more worries, it's gonna be fine" It is a verbal equivalent of a parent's hug. You are not supposed to tell an adult to "tahan na." It's never said by a offspring to a parent. But MAPA is just something else. It is a reverse-role lullaby (Lataratrara). That is why it hits hard.
You're such a great reactor. I was crying with you while listening to the lyrics. Sorry SB19 for discovering you just now. I am now a fan and all of you are insanely talented. This song is so heartfelt and beautiful.
You should see/hear their collaboration with Ben & Ben for the song MaPa. Btw, I've heard the song sooo many times and yet, I cried with you. Thank you!
Watching reactors of MAPA is just refreshing everytime. Because they share different stories. I hope SB19 especially Pablo is watching RVs and see how his written song impacts so many people. It really achieved it's purpose.

Seeing a grown up man crying.. that really hits me.. this song really breaks my heart and cried so much.. Thank you Nanay and Tatay for all the hardwork, sacrifices.you've done for us.. We love you so much.
Indeed, Tilaluha, while still beautiful, bears the unmistakable KPop imprint. Mapa is distinctly PPop. Even the tune evokes the kind of chant with which a tribe's history is told in pre-colonial Philippines. Pinoy talaga. Mighty glad SB 19 is able to squiggle out of the fetters under that Korean company Show Biz T and manage themselves.

We sang this on our graduation and after we sang it we started crying, hugging and even making promises that no one would ever ever forget each one another. PROUD FILIPINO HERE
Whenever I see reactors crying because of MAPA, it gives me the feeling that SB19 succeeded with this song already. Touching the listeners' hearts through music is pure talent. Not all songs can connect with ones heart and soul. I swear this song will be timeless.
Everytime I saw a guy was crying for their parents, It really hit me so much cause most of the times mens does not expressive. You can tell that this guy have a good heart and he loves his parents! 😇
it's so beautiful that even non Filipinos will cry by just listening and reading the lyrics (translated). Thank you sir for supporting featuring our own sb19 💙
There are 3 OPM songs that never fail to make me cry whenever I hear them. 1. Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran by ASIN. (A song about nature) 2. Anak by Freddie Aguilar. (A song about daughter/son) 3. MaPa by SB19. (A song about parents) First two songs are classic Filipino songs already. I believe there are no Pinoys who doesn't know these songs by heart. MAPA on the other hand is a relatively new song but nothing short of emotions as the first 2 songs I've mentioned. These 3 wonderful songs will really make you cry and inspired and reminisce but most importantly they give you hope and courage to go on and do the right thing. For the environment and for the people you love most especially your family. So I highly encourage everyone who were able to read my comment to give it a try and listen to the songs I've mentioned above.❤
Just subbed! Really hits different when it comes to our parents. It makes us realize how important to express our love and gratitude towards them. Hugs! Thank you for supporting our PPOP KINGS, SB19.
I cried everytime I listened to this song because my parents died when I was 8 and I can't even give them a better life that I want for them. (Excuse of my grammar)
My mom passed away this last week and this song hit me too so hard that it make's my tear's flow unnoticeable just noticed it a few sec. Anyway when i watched this reaction and the emotion you showed i cried again.
Omg kuya, condolences to you and your family, she's in a good place right now and I'm sure she's looking after you always. I love my mom so much more than anything else that's why I cried reading your comment
This is actually my first time seeing you cried over a song man and I totally understand . This song is just so beautiful, so emotional, and yeah it's a masterpiece. So sorry for your dad man. Condolences
I'm sorry for your dad's passing. Actually, LATA RATA means "goodbye" in urban dictionary and it's amazing that they used it like a lullaby because that's how filipino mothers sing to their babies. Edit. For those who oppose, you can search it up on google but if it's not Pablo's intention to mean it that way there's no big deal. Songs can be interpreted in so many ways and that's what I like about MAPA, it relates to everyone indeed.
Knowing this tiny bit changed my viewpoint on the song. I really don't care much about pop boybands, but then this song just keeps showing up on the news so I had to check it. I thought Lataratata part was meaningless but seeing this comment, I remembered my grandmother, she died of stage 4 lung cancer last 2018, she's been a substitute mother for me since my parents were never really around. One day she was fine, the next day she wasn't. She lost the ability to speak in a day, the ability to do anything for herself, I was 11 back then, I would take care of her but there was a point where I somehow became neglectant, so on the 31st day of august, I was laughing and happy with my classmates and then came home to hear she died. Watching her lying in the coffin bed didn't affect me at first I was just like "Rest in peace" but when the priest closed the coffin lid, realization hit me and it hit me hard, *When that lid is closed I'm never seeing her again.* and flashes of memories flashed in my mind, the times I rolled my eyes behind her back, when I ignored her, when I began to not visit her death bed. . . It hurts. It's been over 4 years? And I still can't get over it, I'm still feeling the ache in my heart. I really loved my grandmother and I know she knows it but when she spoke her last words in her death bed (the only words she only was able to say) were names of my cousins, my siblings but none of which were mine. . . I'm not blaming but I'm just wondering why, did she not recognize me? I was with her 24/7 so why? It's still a wonder but I just wish I showed her more love and affection. . . I'm sorry this comment took the emotional route, I was only meant to mention the lata rata part but here I am crying. 😅 sorry for disturbing.
@@eccedentesiast2328 awww I'm sorry for your loss 💔 I've been there too and I understand. My grandma also died last dec 11 and two days after one of my closest friend also passed away. We can't change anything anymore but I want you to continue being an amazing person. You're not alone. ❤
@@supermarvid7920 thank you for the concern, and I'm also sorry for your loss. I hope you're doing fine due this time, and may the new moon be kind to you when it arises.❤
Actually, I thought “Lataratara” is from Spanish “La tierra tierra” an idiomatic expression meaning the world. Yes, definitely a lullaby. Not sure the origin, just what I heard.
It is so amazing to know that a song can reach even the farthest part of the earth. This song will hit you whoever you are or wherever you may be. We love hearing stories that relates to the song. I'm sorry to hear about your parent's passing. May they rest in peace.

This song is a mirror of image of the Filipinos' hearts. Crystal clear like the water, our culture tells us to always look at the reflection of our parents through the dreams that they've always dreamt for us. Like a the map, our parents are the first navigators during our early years until such time that we're final ready to navigate our own lives in this journey called, Life.
when he said " no matter where this journey takes me, i'm not gonna forget home. " :< that hit me hard and made me a cry baby. thank you for reacting to their video!!
Having to be able to took care of your Dad on his last days of his life, can also be considered as a blessing and is really a brave thing to do. Not everyone was given a chance to do that. Definitely, your Dad were very grateful and more than happy to see you being with him on his last days. Just to let you know.. most of us who have watched the lyric video, have been hit hard by this beautiful song.
I love your reaction, so genuine. Thank you for appreciating one of their masterpiece written by their leader, Pablo. That song really touches our heart. That baritone is ken signing, my bias😜 Pls react to tilaluha in tm pusuan performance. It's much better than the wish bus.
🤧😭😭😢😭😭 This song 🎵 deserves 👏 a billion views and a must to hear. The message of this song is so freakin' BEAUTIFUL 😍 . KUDOS to the lyricist and responsible writing ✍️ this song! It hits me 💔 😢 😭.
You honoured your parents with this reaction video. This song by SB19 is my absolute favourite. It connects with our deepest values as Filipinos, of respect, gratitude our parents and remembering our roots.
I’m sorry to hear about your father. I am glad you were able to take care of him as his son and how he took care of you. Yes, we cried many times over this song. Thanks for appreciating.
I've never seen such genuine and humble reaction ever. My mom just passed away 2 weeks ago and its very hard accepting everything especially I lost her while I'm away and because of covid I was only given a chance to see her in funeral for approximately 3 hrs while in PPE. The same way, I lost my father too this year. And hearing this song while seeing your reaction really got me real good and still so so much thankful that I've come to realize how lucky and blessed I am before they left this world. I love youy dearest nanay and tatay. Thank you for sharing your lives and struggles with us. May God bless your way sir FKR
There's no feeling more gratifying than to be able to give back to our parents; take care of them, provide for them and just love them. I was able to do that with my mom when she was battling cancer (lung, as well) years ago. It's still heart-wrenching for me, up to this day, every time I think about her and realizing she was no longer around but I learned to live with it. I guess this is why this song hit me differently as well. I'm sorry for your loss. There's nothing that can really mend the pain of losing a loved one, much more a parent, but time helps us. Have a good one. Stay healthy and safe.
It's really nice because this song encourages different types of people with different backgrounds to open up and share their stories about their parents. When I was listening to the song, it made me feel really grateful to my parents, and at the same time hopeful for the day I'll get to give back to them. :D Thank you for sharing your story with us. :)
"I won't be lost anytime For I brought the map....." It was a play on words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa. They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰
by hearing this again i always praying that everyone’s parent and mine will live longer and healthier than we are wishing that they would be immune to any virus
My condolences to your dad. 3 months is still fresh and the song could really hit you like that. This is genius songwriting from Pablo, the leader of SB19. Please keep supporting these boys. They are oozing with talent and they deserve to be recognised so they could give us more masterpieces like this song. I hope you will have more contents about SB19.
Im a filipino and an sb19 fan… this is such a wonderful reaction video and i got emotional again, i feel you man! All the love for our parents❤️ God bless you..
Thank youso much for reacting SB19. . And apreciating them. . This song will heat in our hearts . . Its a very inspiring song to our parents . . Its time to thanks him. . On what she or he did for us.
So I just found myself watching these reaction videos of SB19’s Mapa, and I cry every time. This song really hits through the soul. It helped me realize the love that my parents gave me.
I can feel you sir, my Dad passed away last year and im so glad that in my little way I was able to show my love for him. Thanks for always supporting SB19. God bless 🙏
i've known sb19 for years i see their faces everywhere on the internet but i never checked them out, my colleague friends in the office would usually play Filipino songs everyday so im quite familiar with them even if im a kpop fan, mapa is one of those songs being played frequently but i didn't bother who the singer was, then here comes your video i got super surprised that sb19 sang this song, thanks to you im gonna slowly look for more sb19 songs
This is really my favorite song. From the first time I heard it it totaly makes me cry . The lyrics of this song teaches us all to always look back and value our parents to thier constant love to us since our infancy stages until where we are now. I just miss my mother so much that almost a decade now since the last time we see each other back home in the Philippines. Salute to composer, writer and this group for making this really really beautiful song .
this song really hits me hard too. straight from the heart! I miss my tatay, my Pa in my MAPA. Peo khit gano ko pa x ka-miss he will never come back to us even if he wanted too. He already joined our creator in heaven. 💔
I wasn't able to keep up with the lyrics, but what I did catch and from what you said they sound good. Their vocals were great. There are a lot of good Asian artists. You should check out Charlie Zhou Shen's cover of "This Is Me".
I've figured out why it's called MAPA. I think there are two meanings for this. MAPA is a Tagalog word for MAP which guides and leads us to where we are supposed to go, also MAPA is a combination of MA(mama/mom) and PA(papa/dad), it means MAma and PApa are the ones leading us to the right path.
you got it right :)
😀😁yeppp
Just for a cherry on top, you'll noticed that the message for the Mother revolves around how you view the world (Eyes/MAta). And the message for the father is the appreciation of how to stand on your own (feet/PAa)
You're goddam right
You got it right! Also, Ma= mata/eyes, Pa=paa/legs or feet. Means our parents are our eyes and feet to our journey (guide).
Usually it’s the parents who sing lullabies to their babies but this time the lataratara part is just the boys singing a lullaby to their paremts...
Now we'll be able to sing something for our parents. Beautiful song, with a beautiful impact.
Exactly!
It's also the Spanish derived word for "La Tierra" which means the Earth or the World.
Fr😭❤️
Now I'm crying 🙃
I was literally crying with him
Then an ad showed up in the middle - Mimiyu "Nasa Lazada yan 🎶"
2nd time to watch this RV, and cried again. And while I was crying and checking the comments - you made me laugh while crying kaps. Hahaha
HAHAHAHA bummer! XD
Ahahaha kaya nakakamiss yung youtube na walang ads dati eh. 😆
Hahaha...☺️

Triple entendre
They are not just writing for themselves instead they are writing songs for all of us. This is a masterpiece brought to us by SB19.
And you're also writing for every reactors coz'I've been seeing ur comment in almost every reaction videos haha. Love it ❤
Yeah lol, love it. 💙

i gonna comment the same but you got it first.thank broh

(1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents)
(2) Mapa = Map (English)
(3) MaPa = Mata and Paa (Eyes & Feet)
(4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this.

Also kudos to you for explaining a lot of these. Hearts have been touched today
I was about to explain it but then I saw your comment. You explained it well and that was hella long btw haha.

That "Papa" or Dad. Josh was the one singing that part to think that he never met his father. MAPA hits different. Thank you for reacting to SB19 ♥️♥️
Dang..

SUCH A GOOD SONG!!!
Agreed bro!!!
Will you do a reaction on it too? I would love to see that :D
A tough guy with a soft heart. Thats you😊
I'm so sorry for your father's recent passing.
"They were there for you during your first breath and we should be there during their last." This is so beautiful... tearing up..
yeah that's true
This is the main goal for MAPA. When you hear the song, it will make you open up and share your own stories.
Yes it s and it's doing its part as we can all see.
Yess 😭
Bro, your comment really caught my heart. I am about to work overseas and I was planning to buy my mom and my dad a decent house that we can really call as our own because we never had a decent house. You're absolutely right. We are actually racing against the time that's left for our parents. And we should give them the very best that we can give while they are still breathing. Thank you brother for reminding me about this precious thought.

When i redh this when i saw pas i shoked and when i redh you story now i'm olmost crying if your mom was stil here sje whod be proud

I can't imagine Josh and Ken singing their parts live, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad.

Best ballad from sb19. It topped Tilaluha for me a thousand times. Tysm for reacting. It really was a beautiful song.
Blessed are those children who take care of their parents and reciprocate the love they've given.

Mapa is also the filipino word for “map”. The song also shows that our parents are our guide.

MAPA MEANS MAMA AND PAPA
Parehas "Ma and Pa" and "mapa" cinoconvey ng title I guess... Ma at Pa naggaguide satin parang"mapa"
Wooooord plaaaaayy
Mapa have 3 different meaning
Mama and PaPa
Mapa means map
Mata eyes and Paa feet

Whenever I see reactors crying because of MAPA, it gives me the feeling that SB19 succeeded with this song already. Touching the listeners' hearts through music is pure talent. Not all songs can connect with ones heart and soul. I swear this song will be timeless.

There are 3 OPM songs that never fail to make me cry whenever I hear them.
1. Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran by ASIN. (A song about nature)
2. Anak by Freddie Aguilar. (A song about daughter/son)
3. MaPa by SB19. (A song about parents)
First two songs are classic Filipino songs already.

The "Lataratara Lataratara ta~~" part is like your parents' lullaby to you when you're a baby.
❣️❣️❣️
Yeah❤
Lata Rata Is Just Part Of the Song
I Doesn't Mean Anything
As a Filipino No One Use that Word Ever
Its Just Part Of the Song
Another meaning of Ma = mata (eyes) and Pa = paa (feet). Amazing song writing by Pablo ❤ I love how you break down lyrics in your reaction.

This is really my favorite song. From the first time I heard it it totaly makes me cry . The lyrics of this song teaches us all to always look back and value our parents to thier constant love to us since our infancy stages until where we are now.
