TIKUR GISSILA is my favorite of AIex. It is hard to believe that song is now half a century old. A very long time ago Debebe Eshetu asked him on live TV why his songs were always sad. I don't remember his answer or the context. I believe Alemayehu Eshete was the force behind the golden era of Addis music. I can watch him sing on you tube as long as I live and if I'm good and lucky I'll see him in heaven. But I wish he was here with his family and his country he loves so much.
If the girls were not planned to be there, if this was spontaneous, and I think it was, this makes the concert the greatest of all time. And the young girls are very beautiful and they can do eskista really well. RIP our Alemayehu Eshete.
