@bmw boxer lower saxon Good point - Fotunately, being as politically correct as the next self-identifying person, I was using 'guy' in a non-gender framework. As in "Hi guys" when talking to a mixed gender, or even single gender, grouping of individuals… I could go on, but I must go and ride my bike. 😄
Turkey is a beautiful host country, I have been to Turkey more than 15 times. Everything south of under Cappadocia and Pammucalli I have been, I will be traveling to Turkey twice next year 2020. 1. Alanya, 2. Oludeniz, Kalkan, and Kas :-) Take Care of your best Noraly and keep it safe. Greetings from Brussels - Belgium.
The towers one sees in Georgia have an interesting history. From the Atlas Obscura website: "Svans, a subgroup of Georgians, who speak their own unwritten Svan language, practice blood revenge, and sing complicated polyphonic vocal songs, were the traditional gatekeepers of mountain passes, and since the time immemorial have been hardy survivors, the archetypal highland warriors. Every household in Svaneti is a true fortress. Villages in these rugged landscapes are often too scattered to be encircled with a protective wall. Each individual house thus had to be separately fortified. The tower homes of Svaneti were at the same time familial living quarters, fortified fortresses of defense, and personal treasures. They offered protection to their owners and to their livestock, and also served as shelters for the most valuable possessions of every family, as well as copies of holy scriptures and religious icons and relics. Most of the towers date back to the period between the ninth and 12th centuries."

When I traveled overland from Europe to India in 1964 I did most of it by hitchhiking. However, in those days you could only enter Burma by sea or by air so hitchhiking across it was not possible and those of us who were going further east had to fly from Calcutta to Bangkok and resume hitchhiking from there down the Thai-Malay peninsula to Singapore. Most of us backpackers who were staying in the Sikh Temple were waiting to catch a ship from there to Fremantle Australia. Also, no cell phones or email in the 1960s so contacting friends and family was done by snail mail.

Hi Noraly!
