Wow what a great idea! A socket wedge! You strike the wood to drive the metal wedge. Amazing. I don’t have to always have my hardened pole axes to split my steel wedges! I’ve actually just been using felling wedges to split round bc I can bang em with any axe LOL. This is a must have!
Nice! Really like the idea behind these, theres a lot of clever in the design. Muller makes some cool stuff. Wisemans has a good range of stuff too but unfortunately shipping to here from the US is pretty crazy too. Sound like the bugs are goin off over there atm, still summertime?
Can you do a video on sharpening vs stropping, and just axe care/maintenance in general? When to do one over the other. As someone that got into it this year it would be helpful. I didn’t have anyone to teach me and show me this skill growing up.

You can use socket wedges for felling too and they make aluminum ones for the purpose
Excellent demonstration video and wrap up comments at the end!
Thank you!
Socket wedges, yes! I guess that's the steel splitting version, but do you thing you might ever try it out for felling? The FE axe looks sweet.

Definitely still summer in the video! It’s just not transitioning to fall. It was a real hot and long summer over here

For sure! I’ve got some tricks for sharpening I want to put on the channel thanks for watching!
If you can't split log quickly, then you need to turn it upside down - split the wood in the direction from the roots to the top
I haven’t heard that one before I’ll give it a shot next time I split. Thanks!

Seems like that heavy ax would take its toll on that handle
It certainly may. I bought the wedges intending to use a felling axe of maybe 3-3.5 lbs. Right now I’m seeing what it can do. Holding up so far!
That's alot of ax ..I like my council 5lb splitter
I love that 5lb splitter! Mines a fallers axe though. I’ve thought about getting the same head on a longer handle.
