Just wanted to pop on here and say thank you. The only experience I have is as a waitress and after watching this video I have had 2 civil service interviews and I have passed both. Now just waiting for the pre employment checks so that I can choose which one I would like. I never imagined I’d pass an interview like this, let alone 2 on the trot. Thank you again

Do you mind my asking, was it a normal face to face interview you had or a video interview? I have a video interview to complete and am a lot more anxious about it than if it was face to face.

I interviewed for a visas and immigration role within the civil service a few months back and didn’t get the job because one of the questions were something along the lines of ‘tell us about a time when you demonstrated leadership’ and I mentioned that I didn’t have the experience but I’m willing to learn and I am a quick learner. I did also mention that I’ve trained colleagues in the past and one time I trained a lad who was autistic and dint understand what I was telling him so I adapted my training and even printed off check lists for him but somehow I never got the job. I have an interview today for a similar role too and feel so unprepared

    Hi Richard,
I can not thank you enough for the videos you do, I also recently bought Passmyinterview information as I had an interview coming up for a job I really wanted within the Civil Service.
I have always been worried about interviews in general, to the point where I have held myself back making excuses as to why I shouldn't go for a job! (Daft I know)
Listening to your videos, gave me that inner courage and confidence to go for it by changing my mindset.
I put into practice a lot of your techniques, I felt calmer and more confident, making these changes made such a difference in how I approached my interview.
I am really pleased to say I got the job 🙂 Highly recommend

Thank you so much for all these videos. I had my online interview yesterday with the Civil Service for an EO role and I could not be more disappointed. There were about 10 questions to answer but the responses had to be recorded and uploaded so I wasn't even speaking TO someone. I had prepared lots of questions using your videos which I found really helpful for thinking on my feet BUT the actual questions I was given each corresponded to a different Behavious (there were 4 in total) but they questions had sub questions below and I found it really hard to answer the main question and sub-questions with only 30 seconds prep time and in the 3 minutes or so I was given for each. The Strength (that apparently you can't give a wrong answer for) were far more enjoyable. Anyways, I really don't know what to make of the recruitment process, I really wish I could have spoken to an actual human being, especially for this type of position. Who knows, maybe I did well, but I doubt it! Thanks anyway for the videos!

@@drbatra1513 Hi, I was asked whether I could cope with multi-tasking, if I enjoyed working as a team- and with other teams and how we organised the work, if I had had to ask for other people's input while working as a team. But all the questions came with sub-questions as I said before and I found it really challenging to answer 4 questions at the same time! Also some strength questions like, if I thought individualism was important in the workplace etc, the others I can't remember and I think I was also asked to not disclose the type of questions in the interview, so just in case don't want to share too much! good luck, I still have 4 weeks and 3 days to potentially wait for the final decision of the recruiting jury...!

I have officially given up with ever getting a position at the civil service. I have applied and interviewed in numerous occassions but have always got "The panel have carefully considered your performance on the day and unfortunately, on this occasion, you were unsuccessful and we will not be proceeding with your application" followed by blanket feedbacks that about my responses to the behaviour and tectnical questions. There is no point of me continuing applying for these positions and continue to get the same outcomes.

The whole CS interview system is broken. The fact that there is such a huge amount of skill or lack thereof that someone can have related to the interview itself just goes to show this.
I'm in the civil service and it's basically set up to recruit people are are great at interviews and have the time to study 5 brain-numbing documents about strengths, compentancies, behaviours or whatever the latest buzz word of choice happens to be. Luckily, some of these people are also good at the jobs in question but not all.
The interview should be designed to be easy for the right person for the job and nigh on impossible for someone who is unfit for the role. Simple as that.
That being said, I can't imagine the CS changing this system (or anything else) any time soon so this is still a very helpful video.

Just got an email saying I'm through to the interview video sift stage, I have 7 days to do it. I'm petrified. It's for Home office customer service. I wish I knew what they would be asking.

How long do you aim for your answers to be? They say 5-7 mins but I see you’ve whizzed through most of em in half that time

    • @CareerVidz
      @CareerVidz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 minutes is a good time :)

For the competency example they say approx 5 minutes to talk about - then the strength based question after about 2 minutes.
