  • Doc Rivers remembers back to first playing against Michael Jordan as a member of the Atlanta Hawks. Doc describes how he would mentally prepare for games vs. Jordan and how his endless motor made him so tough. Rivers finishes by saying later in his career their relationship wasn't as good because of their Eastern Conference clash when Doc was on the Knicks.

      midnightshadow I think Kobe tried to hide or at least keep it low key how much he actually mimicked jordan... it’s actually pretty easy to see Kobe loved him and his game, he just had too much pride to outwardly express it verbally. I’m a Kobe fan too

    Doc Rivers defense on Jordan is 90s basketball. Jordan didn’t even flop or called the refs attention. You can’t do that nowadays. You can’t be King without facing challenges to your throne.

      @Ulysses432 if u want to see something disturbing, research that Memphis St FINAL 4 team from the early 80's. Oh .. real quick Ulysses, Keith Lee played with Michael Cage in Highschool and pretty dominated the local highschool scene. Michael Cage had a pretty decent NBA career with his best years spent with the Supersonics. He led the league in rebounds a few years always coming down at the end of season battling Charles Oakley when he was with the Bulls. Could u imagine having to battle the duo of Lee and Cage in highschool!!! ... . Back to the Tiger team.... Every kid on that final four team was born and raised in Memphis except for 1 player. The starting line up was Lee, William Bedford, Baskerville Holmes, Andre Turner and Vincent Askew( another Supersonic)... All 5 were drafted.... But take some time and Google this team. You will find some articles that have been written over the years about this team.. check it out and get back at me..

Bedford played with the Bad Boy Piston teams,Askew played for the Sonics, Andre Turner played with several NBA teams including the 76ers with Barkley. Turner played mostly overseas and well past his 40s, and Baskerville Holmes was drafted but i doubt he actually made a team. I will try and find some material for u guys to read.

    Kids today have now idea, how dangerous standing in the paint was back then. Even if you didn't get hit, there was always the FEAR of it.

    Glenn 'Doc' Rivers was named after the great Julius 'Dr. J' Erving. The young ABA Dr. J was as great (and exciting) a basketball player who ever existed.

    • @ramonbutler2889
      @ramonbutler2889 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he was...if his numbers from both leagues had been put together, I believe he would have been the 3rd all time leading scorer when he retired

    • @fusionn4316
      @fusionn4316 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ramonbutler2889 His numbers were put together. The amount of points he scored in his career in total is 30,000. Had he stayed in the NBA for 4 more years to reach the 20-year mark, he likely would've passed Jordan in points because Jordan has 32,000.
