I LOOOVE your vlogs, they are so peaceful, I love listening to you talking about books and things you love, I feel like I want to become best friends haha in a non-stalker way hahaha
Just finished reading THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA...it was so good... thank you for suggesting...I just love your videos so much... it has a calming and soothing effect on me... keep up the good work and all the best
Just yesterday I finished We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and I really liked it!! I'm about to start reading Phantom of the Opera and can't wait. I'm so excited to read a book that is so dear to you! Wonderful video Emma
Can I just say, I love more Emma vlogs in my life - honestly, they make the day sparkle..... So shorter or longer vlogs? Always longer! 😁 Also, that booknook - whaaat! It looks amazing and it is ridiculous how excited I am about someone else's book space! 😂😂
"Dom Casmurro" is also one of the best Machado de Assis books. The name "Machado" means "Ax" in Portuguese. There's a funny and meaningful phrase here in Brazil, which says: "There are two ways to open a person's head: throught a good book, or using an ax. I recommend that of (de) Assis" 😂 He is amazing.
@@katia9192 "Há duas maneiras de abrir a cabeça de uma pessoa: através de um bom livro, ou usando um machado. Eu recomendo o de Assis." Really cool the fact that you are trying to learn! Keep going. In my case is the english, that im not 100%😂 Where are you from?
Your videos is everything I need to feel that everything is ok right now, thank you for keep posting! You don't know how much you help us in this very difficult times!
I bought The Phantom of the Opera in the height of summer but knew I wanted to save it for this time of year. I finally started it today and I'm absolutely loving it. The writing is quite beautiful while being very readable. The only trouble is I have the songs stuck in my head and my family are being treated to the delights of my singing!!!!
Just as you said, I don’t think I could ever get tired of hearing people’s passionate thoughts on subjects they love! Talk about the Phantom as much as you like ☺️! Thanks for an other lovely video. I do like your long vlogs, but anything you post is lovely! Have a beautiful rest of your week 🍄

I finished literally last week my second read of Phantom, but hearing you talking about it so passionately makes me want to read it again and again. I don't know if you've answered this before, but do you like the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical? I personally love it, maybe because it's the work of art that introduced me to Phantom... without it, I probably would've not picked the book. What do you think about it?
The Phantom is one of my favorite musicals. I finally got to see it on Broadway a few years ago. It was AMAZING! We saw the 25th anniversary play and they had a new Phantom. It was his debut and he was just phenomenal! He sang his heart out. We also got what they call, the Chandelier seats because the chandelier comes crashing down and flies right over your head. I had to duck! If you ever get to see it, I highly recommend! I've played first flute for it. It's so hard to play and I didn't like playing it but I love to sing along in the car as my vocal warm up. :)
this was such a lovely video, i love hearing you talk about what you’re reading! when you speak about books, it’s so clear that you love literature and since i’m an english major it makes me happy. ooo and btw i actually love your long vlogs!
hi i'm brazilian, i've been following your channel for some time and i absolutely love everything you post. I was very happy to see you talking about Machado. he is the best! I hope you enjoy this reading! 🤍
the woods look so magical 🌿🌙 yes yes yes, people talking about what they love and they're passionate about is the most wonderful thing and aaah my heart is just so happy from listening to you talk about the phantom 💜
the longer, the better with your videos 🤍 also, i just finished howl’s moving castle on your recommendation and it was delightful! i’m due for a rewatch of the movie this weekend :)
Love your discussions on your books. I just finished The Turn of the Screw you said you really liked and is planning on reading in Dec. I hope you talk about that book then.
Any content by you is a treat so don't hold back on longer videos 😁😇 I am going to try to obtain the same translation of the Phantom of the Opera that you have so that I don't have to wonder if there's something about this novel I'm missing that has mesmerized you so. xx
emmie if you want (and if u have time) can you do a video showing your greek/rome book collection?? i recently really got into greek mythology and i'd love to hear about your fave books ♥♥
You should read Masquerade by Terry Pratchett, it's among my favourites for satire and all the opera jokes are amazing to read after the lovely drama of this book.
To borrow from "Get Shorty," setting the story in an opera house allows the author to explore the theme of mimesis on multiple levels. On that note, I heard you stumble a bit using the word 'mirroring' and it made me wonder why you chose it rather than the more common 'reflecting.' Just a thought. Good content - thx.
When you said there's a family of hawks living on the roof, I heard hogs. For a full 10 seconds I was picturing flying pigs. Also, I really don't mind the length of videos. If they're really long I'll just watch them in chunks. Love your channel!
you probably wont read this but if so, what is the book i often see in your videos on the shelves behind you that starts with GREEK? i'm pretty sure i've seen it somewhere
Hi emmie!!! I really enjoyed this vlog, it helped get my mind off of online school :). I was wondering, do you know you mbti personality? I was just curious hahaha
Hi! I’m Japanese and currently trying more harder to read English literature. But reading in another language is just so tough! So... is there any book recommendations to read for a English learner as a second language? My English is still bad so I really want to improve my English skills especially in reading and also enhance my vocabulary and speak English more fluently. If you have any advice, please let me know! And your vlog is so beautiful and exquisite 🌿✨✨🐿 Thank you! Because I’ve always got loads of English knowledge from your videos! Love from Japan 🇯🇵
It might be useful to read a book that you've already read, and just switch over to the English version. That way you don't have to work so hard to figure out what's going on and you can get more vocab from context clues!
Ah, you live in such an idyllic locale. I live in a city shoved smack dab into the bowel of Silicon Valley. I'm looking for a nice hardcover edition of Phantom of the Opera since it's clearly your favorite book. I've also ordered two other books that you have raved about - Mexican Gothic (I'm Mexican-American and expect this to speak to me culturally) and One Hundred Years of Solitude. As far as recipes, spiced apple cider is one of the many delights of autumn. Here's a recipe that looks good, has a video, and to top it off, it has thirteen reviews, all five-stars. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/nancy-fuller/spiced-cider-2251070
I have seen Phantom on Broadway and I absolutely loved it!! Now I want to read the book because the excerpts you read were beautiful and I love the story so much.
Sorry that Amazon failed to include my note with The Alienist. I wasn't trying to be mysterious. Hope it's a savory read :)
Thank you so much!!! It made my day and I’m incredibly excited to read it☺️
i’m currently reading phantom of the opera for the book club and wow! i’m absolutely loving it!!

_People talking about what they're passionate about or people talking with passion about what they love is so nice._ Honestly, an understatement!!
I love how calming your vlogs are!
I cannot express in words how mesmerising it is to watch and listen to you.
Ok but a cloak embroidered with “Stand aside, I am the red death” would be so appropriate for the age of social distancing 😂
I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this 😭

Wow Emmie! The way you flagged those pages of The Phantom is stunning! 🤩
