    This is more interesting to me because I have one. Horizontal engines are from Middle-earth. I just bought the Kohler 12-707-01S kit to fix spark and ignition problems. Over 20 years, rats moved in next to the head and ate some wires.....
    Our decks look similar with rust.

      I must say, the big bore 16HP Command is a great engine. Plenty of torque and good on gas and also easier to service than the twins.
      The 2000 Series are the best bang for the buck for mowing in the used equipment area. Great deck and deck drive designs, very solid drivetrain, and decent steering.
      They started to cheapen them up in later years but the early metal hood and side panel 2000 Series are great. For a turn key, solid and simple mower you are hard pressed to find a better value.

    I have a 2165 that is near mint, the body is good for 25 years of age. But, the motor has a bit of blowby but still runs good

      The 2165 is a sweet model. Briggs Vanguard + 46" deck?

      @@SolunaGarage Yep! Has the 46" with the Vanguard 16. Beautiful tractor, probably the best looking compared to most. I usually see this model in the scrap piles, but I guess with daily maintenance the mower will last a good while

      The 2000 Series are pretty underappreciated in the Cub Cadet enthusiast world. They truly are great machines for light duty work. Plenty of grease fittings on them to keep them going, a decently rigid frame, and a solid driveline make them units that can easily last 1500 hours if maintained properly.

      The smaller 12-13 HP Commands are even easier to work on. Great engines!!!!

    Could you tell me a good replacement motor for the ch16s thanks

      Lots of options. Any of the 11-17.5 HP Command singles will work and require less modification. The Command twins and Briggs Vanguard engines will also bolt right in but require more work, primarily in the exhaust area.

    Is it hard to replace a starter in these? I've done that to a car so I figure it might be just about that easy?? Here's what the seller says... I'd appreciate any advice if you have any: "Needs a starter
    Starter click
    I jumper the starter solenoid
    Starter spins but not engage"

    • @SolunaGarage
      @SolunaGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Starters are a five minute job in these. Super easy.
      Be mindful of the fact that a huge factor in whether or not it fixes the issue as described is the general condition of the wiring connections between all the safety switches and the battery. These connections over time corrode and loosen up and will cause all kinds of low voltage/intermittent starting problems.
      Many people even add in a secondary relay to alleviate the issue.

    How many hours on it

    • @SolunaGarage
      @SolunaGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say. The hour meter broke at 800. I've put 125 on it since the rebuild, so it is pproaching 1000 hours. It didn't have a very easy first 800.

    I've got a 2000 series plow I'd sell ya?
    I had a 2185 for the last 5 years on mowing duty, sold this fall as it was replaced with a 1864.

    • @SolunaGarage
      @SolunaGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually have a plow for the 2166, thanks though!
      1864 is one of the best GTs ever made. Fantastic machine all around.
