Nice overview, it’s seems through the comparison that the definitive edition has vertical cropping, whereas the vizbigs have horizontal cropping. Meaning that the definitive edition has more artwork on the sides and less at the top and bottom, and the vizbigs are the opposite. The definite also has the same end extras as the vizbigs though so nothing new except the front colored pages of the individual volumes which is nice.
Great addition to the details my friend! Picking up some very subtle differences! And yeah I corrected myself in the video saying that the content is the same as the vizbigs. Having a thin paper roll around it for like 50 dollar is kinda weak. I've heard that it is getting cracks pretty fast. And without it it looks kinda weird with this 50/50 cover... Also the spine-Image from the vizbigs is missing for me. I think if youre already having the vizbigs the upgrade is not worth it.
@@notime2read134 well getting JUST that for the price isn’t exactly accurate. It’s not JUST a thin paper dust jacket for that price tag, it’s much more which I showed in the video. These deluxe’s are MUCH larger than the vizbigs so when it comes to the art and picking up on details it’s a much more enjoyable experience. These editions also come with sewn binding which allows the book to open completely meaning there’s no gutter loss when it comes to the art and story and no cracking or damaging of the spine. The paper quality is a tad better also so the darks and whites stand out better when it comes to details again. Overall it’s a MUCH better reading experience when comparing to the vizbigs especially when it comes to the art on page which is very important for Inoue’s art style. The dust jacket getting damaged is a possibility as stated but removing it when reading is an easy fix and I love the design without it. When it comes to the designs of the 2 I agree! The vizbig spines are a win. That being said I typically don’t buy books I wanna read for spine art only. I usually lean towards the format that offers the easiest and most enjoyable way to read. I would also say I’m not the only person that purchases based off this so the upgrade discussion is a valuable one to have. All this to say that it is a viable option for those that want a format made for reading over collecting. We all collect for different reasons and this upgrade isn’t a MUST, but if you want an easier and more enjoyable reading experience AND all volume covers collected then this is a total win! Both are valid editions in general when it comes to the hobby of collecting.
Its the exact same content as the VizBigs, the only difference is the size/construction of the book. The back matter you mentioned being new is the same stuff in the VizBigs that you also own but I guess never read.
Hmmm interesting comment. You’re not entirely correct BUT mostly, but I’m in the same boat which happens! The Deluxe’s DO collect more than the Vizbigs when it comes to extras due to them collecting the volume covers in the front of the edition unlike the vizbigs. So saying the contents is the EXACT same isn’t 100% accurate, even though I also thought and said the same… To that point the back matter I referenced during the overview/book tour IS included in the vizbigs like you said and is NOT unique to this edition. Which is exactly why during my “final thoughts” portion of the video I correct myself by saying almost exactly what you have said In your comment above. ( 20:50 mark of the video: “…these deluxe editions are essentially a blown up, hardcover edition of those vizbigs…”) That being said we now know that’s also not entirely correct. Now saying I haven’t read something when I said I did because I INITIALLY missed something that I corrected later in the video is a little harsh. But I do thank you for watching the video and presenting information for the community! ✊🏻⚡️✊🏻
man i was so excited for definitive ed despite the awful cover displayed earlier in those trailer but its somehow way worse to look at, my vizbig ed are fine without any binding problems. waited so long for nothing
Definitive quality looks amazing. However the spines are not even close to the iconic VizBigs spines (the part you see 100% of the time on the bookshelf) Won’t be picking these up.
That’s fair to each their own! 🤷🏽♂️ We all collect differently and for different reasons. Me personally I care way more about how the content is presented and the reading experience while absorbing the story. Which the deluxe format is far more superior in making those aspects the best they can be. I do 100% agree that those spines are ICONIC!
@ do you have the VizBigs? There’s really nothing wrong with them besides the lazy cover art. I will say a hardcover feels more safe when it comes to actually opening the book all the way up LOL. No gutter loss and worries about the spine cracking. Definitely agree with you & it’s something readers should take into consideration.
@ I do, all 12 sadly OUCH that hurts to say haha I agree! 100% not anything wrong with the vizbigs and I was more then happy with them until this came out. I think the vizbigs are far more superior when it comes to the look on the shelf. The deluxe is just put together better and easier to read like you said. No wrong way just preferences really.
Terrible cover, translated onomatopoeia/sound effects (zero respect for the original work). Also the half jacket is so dumb. Berserk Deluxe still remains the only deluxe that respects the original.

That being said we now know that’s also not entirely correct.
Now saying I haven’t read something when I said I did because I INITIALLY missed something that I corrected later in the video is a little harsh. This video was my first time looking at and handing this edition which I thought would be fun to do with the audience in real time.
Hey man the only right way of collecting and reading is doing it the way YOU want to!
I support you in this decision my brother in manga! ✊🏻⚡️✊🏻
Still waiting for the series to get an ending.
That’s all of us 🤷🏽♂️
We shall see.
Definitive quality looks amazing. However the spines are not even close to the iconic VizBigs spines (the part you see 100% of the time on the bookshelf)
Won’t be picking these up.
That’s fair to each their own! 🤷🏽♂️
We all collect differently and for different reasons.
@ I do, all 12 sadly OUCH that hurts to say haha
I agree!
@@Paul_Henri86 I think it’s a great edition!
It has flaws sure but it’s far from horrible and a great way to collect such a great story.
But hey opinions are opinions after all 🤷🏽♂️
Appreciate you watching! ✊🏻⚡️✊🏻
@@Illuminerdy_ The deluxe format is amazing, the art looks so much better in a big format…
But translating the onomatopoeia/sound effects is too much for me, is not just words, is literal art.
Anyway, nothing I can do about it so I’m gonna skip those ones, unfortunately here in Brazil they didn’t release this deluxe yet, so I’m gonna stick with the standard format that it has great translation .
@ sounds like a solid plan my friend!
bro why are you so commited to commenting this on every video. You're acting like its affecting your legacy
🤣. Calm down brother you dont have to spam this on every video. Just DONT BUY IT
@@theepicsealshow123 Because fans deserves better 💀
The cover is so ugly imo
To each their own brother! No harm no foul! ✊🏻⚡️✊🏻
