"Look at that smile." Yeah, that's the Chester we learned to love and adore. Even through the extremely dark times he always brought the same smile to our faces.
A lot of the most troubled souls face the world with a smile and laughter because they don't want to chance it spreading to anyone else. Most feel it's their burden to bare alone. Until a failed suicide attempt, nobody knew I was in depression and suicidal and might have never known until it was too late had I not been discovered. Robin Williams made a career of spreading smiles and laughter and it was rare to see him not smiling yet he was extremely troubled and took his own life too. Depression is a very serious and deadly disease that needs WAY more awareness and support.
I implore you Ken, dig deeper into Linkin Park and Chester Bennington's catalogue. Chester was a very troubled young man, but also an incredibly talented singer, the pain in his heart and mind bled through into his music in a way that is truly touching. Whether it's the hard stuff or the more melodic, it is all deeply emotional. There are so many people whom don't even listen to this type of music who love Linkin Park. As a talented singer and musician in your own right I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice denying your ears the wonder that was Linkin Park and Chester Bennington. Best wishes - Keith.
When I listen to that song, it's like I'm hearing him sing it about himself. I didn't really hear the song till after he passed. It was pretty crazy listening to.
Wow, what a nice punch to the gut. Pure emotion. These guys are the best, I saw them live a bunch of times and you could feel the love, passion and sincerity pouring out of them. RIP Chester
This was at an LPU summit. They used to do events where fan club members could come and see backstage and on the stage and meet the band and get special performances like this. This band is so special, as was Chester’s voice.
Yes please react to more Linkin Park. Chester is such a legend. Mike Shinoda is the rapper, also a really good vocalist, plays numerous instruments. Brad is the Guitarist. Rob is the Drummer. Dave ( Phoenix ) is the bassist. Joe Hahn is the DJ and also directs most of their videos. Just thought I would give you some background on them. They have been my favorite band since they came out. Miss you 💔
I did subscribe, I love the non-judgemental way you calmly look at music. I don't understand all of what you say, but like someone else said about movies: 'Watching this with you is the closest I can get to vicariously experience it for the first time again.' I remember the first time I saw Chester perform and I wish you didn't get used to just how talented someone can be.
I had the pleasure of seeing LP in London - Chester always managed to make a 21k seat arena (or larger) feel like a very intimate setting - he just connected with everyone. Amazing soft charisma.
Linkin Park is another band you really need to explore more. Chester was very different from anyone else in the world. He and the band have so many different and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G tunes you could and should showcase here on your channel! Please do so sir! You'll not regret it! I promise! True artist stamp here!!!!
In regards to the crowd singing his songs, you should watch their song "Numb" from the tribute concert they played after Chester passed. It's a true testament to how beloved he was by us as fans.
I love chester. He's one of the very best ever in my humble opinion! But, if you're looking for passion and raw emotion, listen to Crawling in an acoustic version with a piano only. It blew my mind. You can tell how he carried so much pain and darkness on the inside but spread light and a message of love to those around him. I absolutely adore this man and what he still is. Rest in peace, Chester.
I love this....beautiful song.....Chester’s voice, his smile, is just comforting to me......sweet angels voice.......I love your reaction to this one and “Rolling In the Deep”.......you should check out lots more Linkin Park, you will love them too 😊
You could also take a look at Final Masquerade sang by him in a similar environment. The song is a lot more powerful itself though and you can see Chester work pretty hard while singing it
Chester closed his eyes a lot when performing. I have noticed he does it in some songs more than others. I always like to hope he was concentrating and allowing himself to get lost in his singing, lyrics and performance.
I love this performance! Please keep up the Linkin Park live videos. He does another one, same song at a children's hospital. So good. Please do Sharp edges. Love that song.
Im really bawling. He really loved singing. Diff edges of singing. It pierces his heart. It's all he had an all important. He CARED ABOUT his performance an gave it EVERYTHING . How many do that? I will have to agree with you Ken. I oft find myself closing my eyes when singing or when others sing something particularly heartfelt. It resonates with me at a deeper level and I feel that is what the artist is trying to convey. Of course, Linkin Park has been a fan fav for years now, so in my books they are amazing artists - so in their case, not particularly difficult. I enjoy that Chester appreciated the crowd involvement when he lost track of his lyrics - but it has to be the most incredible experience for an artist when the crowd loves your music so much that they sing it with you when you perform.
Please check out Chester's first band Grey Daze. They recently released an album called "Amends" using Chester's vocals and pure love for him to bring new Chester Bennington songs to his fans who were longing to hear new, or unheard music of his. Morei sky, soul song, what's in the eye, b12, sickness, the whole album is incredible.
"What I've Done" and "Numb" are interesting vocal songs of LP. Also "Iridescent" live is so good honestly I really recommend that one for your vocal perusion. But I do agree with others, Chester's cover of "Rolling in the Deep" is fantastic.
Good to hear that bad coaches come in all forms. Be yourself & believe in yourself. Love your channel ❤️ 💕. I just discovered it today & binge watching.. I'm a equestrian & went through a few bad coaches. Now I lean on my horses to tell me when I get it right!
There’s another performance like this with Chester singing “Rolling In the Deep” acapela 🙂❤️..............and definitely check out all the Linkin Park that you can, they are amazing 🤩.........Chester is amazing with an angels voice and then can go into a scream at the drop of a dime then back to his angels voice......I found Linkin Park this past long year 2020 and I am so very grateful and blessed to have gotten to do that and to hear them and Chester ❤️
I need to close my eyes a lot for singing when I feel myself drifting and losing it, oops! Chester's voice was phenomenonal, one of my favourite voices! X
Ive only recently subscribed but would love to see you do more videos on linkin park ie Chester bennington, he has a vocal range only the gods could replicate and has been the biggest musical influence throughout my teen and adult life
I have actually doubled over, laughing until I was curled up on the floor at a concert once. Very small venue, just a couple 100 people. 🤣 It was a new Korean band who was touring for the first time, one of my friends needed a travel buddy to go to London and I wanted to go to London, so we decided to go together. Then we went to the concert because she wanted to and we went to the Sherlock Holmes museum because I wanted to. So we were both content. But the whole "forgot the lyrics" thing was the reason for me ending up on the floor. This band didn't have a whole lot of their own songs yet and not a whole lot of experience either. So aside from a few of their own they were singing covers of English songs and all the fans were singing along. The main vocalist stopped singing for a bit while the crowd carried on. He then proceeded to tell them how great they were, fansquealing ensued, and absolutely *everyone* lost track of the lyrics. It was so funny and it really was worth the entire trip and the following influenza for standing outside for hours waiting to get in.
my best singer, it was like loose a dog or brother sister or best friend, horrible..... what is crazy is this is the same for millions people on his planet
You are vocal coach so it's completely understandable that you are more focused towards vocalist But by the way the lead guitarist is Brad delson the bassit is Dave Farrel The drummer is Rob bourdon and the turn tablist is Mr Joe hann and last but not the least the heart of Linkin Park Mike shinoda
Chester Bennington had the same vocal coach as Michael Jackson, namely Seth Riggs. In an interview Seth Riggs did with redbullmusicacademy he talked about working with him: Q: You worked with Tina Turner on Tommy - can you talk about what that experience was like, preparing her to sing “Acid Queen?” A: I was introduced to her by Ann-Margret, whom I also was working with. She would only be singing [imitates Tina Turner’s upper register], that kind of thing. And she says, “People really love that.” I say “Yes, but it’s abuse.” And I said “Of course, with the money that you have made and the young men that you’ve married, you can pay for anything. You don’t have to sing that, but it would help you if you used [singing in a lower chest register].” She said “Yeah, but that doesn’t give you the character that this does.” I said “I know it doesn’t, but that’s what people do that want to save their voices for a longer term.” That’s sort of the same thing that Michael did when he went [impersonates a Michael Jackson shriek]. But he goes in the chest and then flips into falsetto so he wouldn’t hurt himself. Look at this young man that just killed himself, hung himself. Chester [Bennington]. I showed Chester this. He said “But that’s so easy.” I said, “Chester, you have a wonderful facility, but look. We’re sitting in a car now right? Who is that little baby and that lady sitting over there?” He said “That’s my baby and her nurse.” “I see. And who is the lady with the older child sitting in front of her?” “That’s my child, my older child, and my wife.” “What kind of a car are we sitting in?” “We’re sitting in a Mercedes-Benz.” I said, “How much was it?” He said “This was a special one. The fellow didn’t have the money for it and we got it on sale.” But I said, “How much?” He said, “$150,000.” I said, “Wouldn’t you like to continue this, the way you have it now?” I didn’t know about the other things that plagued him, because I had to read about what they were. We didn’t get into that. I’m not a psychiatrist. But I said, “Could you do it? I know that you pull up a lot of chest when you do it the old way, but the new way, you don’t. So, make you a deal. Get me half and half. Do it ‘half-bad.’” He said “OK, I’ll try that.” It gets them the character they want but without killing their voice.

I completely agree🙌🏼
The whole 3 hour tribute was unbelievable and beautiful.
