This is probably one of the nicest songs that I have ever heard played on a guitar. After playing guitar for 25 years myself I have so much respect for this guy. I have seen Tommy 5 times live and you feel like you are watching your buddy play up there on stage and that you are his favorite audience.

Jamie Lewis No Thanks. I dont believe god gave Tommy his skills. Its called practice. I promise you, if you ask Tommy he would probably agree that to be good at any art (and other disciplines) you need to practice, practice, practice.
My point was there was no point to bring religion into it.

Paul L I agree about the redundancy of religion. But just practice? A reporter once asked the actor Spencer Tracy: "Is it true that acting is 5% talent and 95% hard work?" "Yes" he replied, "But don't try it without the 5%"

I think this is probably the best place online to say this. When I decided to pick up a guitar, I found my joy. I don't see it as a pastime or a hobby. It's more like meditation, and an audible extension of emotions I'm too dumb to vocalise. We all need something like this, but you have to search in order to find it.

Darryl Stevens You can be sure that Tommy puts hours of practice in, but not nearly as much as the average Joe. Some people are born musicians and never need a lesson. People like Tommy may have been taught the guitar, but you can be sure he picked up on it far easier than most. This is my point about blessed fingers. He was created to play the guitar.

***** There are many guitarists out there who have been practicing and performing most of their lives who couldn't come close to the skill level that Tommy has. Sure practicing always makes you better, I won't deny that. . But the top shelf performers advance up the ranks much faster than the average person because they are gifted musicians. You can deny that if you want to. I promise, I won't lose any sleep over it. It's obvious you get riled when someone mentions the God you will stand before and answer to when you die, but you will not stop that from happening, even by your disbelief.

Sad but 190 people don't appreciate what a great guitarist T E is and what music is all about. Thump thump is not about playing the guitar. Anyone can do that.
    Long live Tommy.

John Mayer definitely had to have learned some of his acoustic styling from Tommy Emmanuel.

it is one of the easierest pieces of Tommy. I took 3 month to play it. The difficulty for me is the groove, the touch. I think I will never get it in this "easy going style" like Tommy. He is still phantastic.

Absolute genius. When can geniuses make something hotties want to dance to, crowds roar to hear, that dramatically raises the pulse of every listener, not just discriminating students of an instrument.

Saw him in February this year -- relatively small venue, but packed, not a seat left in the place. He is not only a great guitarist, but a very gracious entertainer, very much interacting with the crowd.

Props to Tommy Emmanuel. Learned about this version before the studio recording and would say this my favorite. Only four short months ago since I discovered Tommy's timeless compositions and covers. I am humbled by the complexity in style, and awed by the simple and endearing melody . Chord voicings, hybrid fingerstyle, and his love for the art combine and truly motivate hacks like me to learn. This song entered the soundtrack of my life now & forever, Amen!!
