I wouldn't be surprised if the ping tester came from the same people who made the fakes.
It is sad that people will work so hard to cheat others instead of just doing the right thing... very sad! Great information, as always Speg! Thanks for taking the time to share! Take care, be safe and God bless! 🇺🇸
It’s very sad. Money causes people to do some horrible things.
Great little show. Often peeps tell you why it is fake, but when you show a legit coin next to a fake. The mistakes on the fake stand out like a cloud on a clear day. Thank you for comparing the fake to the real coin. even a novice can see WHY it is wrong.
Exactly! Looking at them completely separate make it harder to notice the differences.
Plenty of my gold and silver weights slightly more than 1oz (31.10 grams). You need to get batteries for your calipers.
Got a fake South Africa Silver Krugerrand on ebay. Redunded w/o issue. Seller was not a coin dealer and sold items like cosmetics and other typical sidewalk merchant wares. I didn't research the seller first when i made the purchase. A good practice is to deal with coin dealers when purchasing on ebay. After a while, with experience, one can tell immediately that an item is fake. In my case, the weight was immediately noticeable as being light and the details on the coin such as the hair, beard and vegetation under the antelope were cheap.
Glad you were able to get a refund! A lot of newcomers don’t know what to look for so imagine a lot of people get fooled on eBay.
Valuable video for any collector or stacker. Note also the poor quality details in QE's hair and the maple leaf itself.
Knowledge is power.
Great video 😊
Great video, as always. Thanks for sharing with the community.
Thanks for watching 😊
Im guessing the reason that pure silver doesn't ping too much (sustain - we call it in the music biz) has to do with the softness of pure silver - Same thing happens with 999 gold , it just kinda hits and dies in a couple seconds. In a way , someone can imagine this as a piano string or guitar loosening the strings until they barely wiggle. A loose piano wire with still hit - but will die out quickly. The mixture of a small amount of copper in a coin , tightens it up , copper is harder than silver and gold and likely makes it sustain (the sweet spot seems to be just around 7% ) , sterling coins (.925) ping great ...90% is a little distorted , but still really rings out for a long time. Copper does not sound beautiful, but when mixed with silver and gold for a strange reason "harmonizes" great - makes me wonder if partial silver piano strings would work, or would they be too soft to handle the high amount of tension that a piano requires...perhaps just winding the strings would work? But yeah after pinging sterling silver , I want to try a piano with silver or gold winding for the lower strings. I bet that would sound way better. Thanks for the video :)
Thanks for your input 😊
great video Speg.
Thanks for watching 😊
Great video ... snd s goof ude of the red book for facts!
Hope you and coinguy are safe. The hurricane 🌀 is going to be close to you guys
Love that OTF knife! :) I have a Benchmade "Infidel" and a couple of Bokers
I would be interested in your opinion, I stack and sometimes buy slightly higher premium coins, but I have been buying the Korean Coins Zi and Chiwoo's maybe for 4-5 years, maybe 2-5 of each, but now that premiums are up there a bit (they are selling at dealers for 33 to36 ea) I am second guessing on continuing. I hate this, because I don't really want to stop this far into the series 4-5 years now, but sort dislike the premiums... A lot of your buying and stacking strategies has very sound decisions, I would just be curious of your thoughts... Thanks!
Good reason not to buy on ebay. I buy at hero and sd and just don't worry about testing everything. Did get some bu peace dollars at sd once that I felt a few of them had to be circulated. But mostly been happy with sd and hero. More so lately hero as their prices have been better.
Killer video 😊
Videos about fake coins are very important. Last year I bought 5 fake ASEs from 3 sellers. MCM, Certified Dime and a garage type seller. MCM refunded my purchase. Certified Dime sent a picture of an ASE on a sigma. Missing Reed in the wrong location right in the picture. Did not pass ping test. Weight was low, Missing Reed location. Three strikes.
Nice Microtech! In my top 5 knives :)
Why aren't the websites that are selling fakes shut down? Isn't the Secret Service prosecuting offenders?

Hey speg, why do people not like cleaned coins?
Thank God there only spent a small amount of money what I always say study your coins
Always buy from reputable bullion dealers. Maybe you pay a little more, but you are unlikely to get fakes. eBay, FB, online bullion dealers with little or no history…I stay away from them like the plague. I sleep well at night knowing that everything I’ve bought is 100% genuine.
Agreed! In this case, it’s worth paying a little extra. Have you gone through the experience of receiving a fake coin?
@@mrsspegtacular6484 I’ve never received a fake coin because I always buy from reputable bullion dealers. I know I get the real McCoy because I always confirm my purchases with a Sigma. All good. 😆
On the maple that you hammered out, did that pass as silver on the sigma ?
I show it in the video
Ping!!!! I find this video authentic! #teamSHTF
Wow maples security features have proven that the maple is a superior coin! I’ve seen tons of those fakes they are horrible and a dead giveaway! I think I’m gonna buy some more maples this week over eagles!
What’s the ping app called ?
How reliable is a magnet test against fakes?
Great unless it’s a similar metal that also reacts in a similar way.
I just bought some coins from an online dealer and 7/8 coins have the same weight but one is 2 grams heavier. Red flag? The one different from the others was a 2021 giraffe silver coin that was on sale. Just bought one cause my daughter likes giraffes
Brass is yellow
I could see the difference when you wiped that coin.
Maybe. I didn’t see it. Even a slight difference due to the wiping now causes micro scratches and thus a “cleaned coin”
@@Spegtacular I painted cars and industrial for 30 years I see the difference even a little bit. It is just part of the business. I like your channel been here very early in your beginning. Keep it up I see 100k subs off in the distance.

Are you near the hurricane?
We avoided the cone. Instead of a direct hit it went north.
