Excellent John - The spoon hallmark is an easy one; George Adams, London with the Leopard Head, 1848 and Queen Vic to say the duty has been paid on it Well done!
John, Could the "thimble" actually be a cane tip? A walking stick? Might explain the iron on it. And the iron on the lip, a pin to hold it to the shaft.
My best guess for the spoon would be: Assay mark for London with the date letter of 1848, I believe the maker is Chawner & Co (George William Adams). He worked from 1840 to 1884 in Hosier Lane, Smithfield, London.
I have been watching your videos almost since the beginning , you do an EXCELLENT job! Very entertaining! My family and I were ready to visit Scotland right at the time of the pandemic. Now things have gotten a bit complicated but we still dreaming of a visit there in the future. Based on your comments, you give tours. Have you ever thought to offer tours of Edinburgh and combined with some metal detecting escapades ? Again, congratulations for your very entertaining ( and educational ) videos !
What a nice way to start a cold blustery winter’s Sunday morning sitting by the fire here in Australia. Great to see Pete out again and some fantastic finds for you both.
Hahaha 🤣 well it took me over 20yrs to get my first bit…. Then a flurry over two years and then all quiet! But I hope you’re right Mark! Enjoy the video and have a great weekend
Have you considered doing a channel with all of you digging together and calling it something...Boys/Men a la the Hoover channel? So you have your own for solo digs, but all of you can add to the shared digs? Just a thought!
Your unstoppable at the moment John which makes for great viewing and were enjoying this field as much as you are and, Congratulations on all your silver finds the thimble is lovely.
John, my guess on the eagle item at about the 22 minute mark is a token. The eagle is similar to the reverse of the US Morgan silver dollar from 1878-1921
Pete's coin with a bird that you thought might be a heron looked like a cormorant to me. Live in SoCal 20 miles inland from the coast. This week were hitting our first 90 degrees F.
Great finds John and good to see Sneaky Pete as always! 🤗. I don’t know how you do it out in Scotland, people just seem to throw away silver, bits of jewellery and watches??? Obviously and lot more careful here in Chester … which is no good to a hopeful 😅 detectorist ! That thimble is lovely and hope you can clean it up ok 🤞
What a stellar day mate! Every time you find a 6 pence I’m reminded of a pop group called “6pence None The Richer” the George 7th was something I have not seen before and then, as if that’s not enough the silver thimble is more beautiful than any thimble I’ve found. What easy digging as well, I’m gonna start eating more carrots 🥕! Be safe mate and thanks again for taking the time to take us along! I used to have a Deus 2, so that silver spoon was a blowout on the headphones 🎧 I googled it; GA over CO= George Ashworth & Co. [𝙎] Late 1800’s ~ Early 1900’s GA into a quatrafoil = George Angell [L] entered 1850.
Pete's scrollwork lettering looks like the monogram brooches American women would wear back in the 1960's or 1970's and the first 2 letters look like J and G. Sometimes they put the last name letter in the middle and bigger than the other two but yours doesn't look like it.
The aluminum token has an eagle very similar to a Morgan silver dollar from the United States. Readers Digest used that eagle on tokens for its magazine, so it may be a similar publisher's token.
I enjoy the thimbles. There are so many designs and metal combinations. I hope you show a final clean up on this one. It is very unusual. Enjoyed the video!
The unknown medallion thing has a Great Seal of America feel to it. Closest I’ve seen is a Half Dollar maybe… although, the exact configuration of Eagle surrounded by a ring of stars then a ring of dots, then a ring of text and then another ring of dots is not one I’ve been able to find. Can you get us some shots of it cleaned up a little more? Could be some sort of Diplomatic Seal too possibly?
Man i read and read and read through the comments and only ONE that i saw had anything about that button S. Pete found. I have seen that emblem "Somewhere" before but just cannot remember. It sure looks like a Cormorrant (?) to me. Seems like it was something American Marines related? Someday, you shall have to have a complete video dedicated to all your iffy finds after you cleaned them up at home. Like this Silver "Thimble" you found. We'd all love to see whats under that iron "tip" for one thing.
That mysterious object at minute 21:38 with the eagle on it looks like the back of a US Morgan Dollar. The eagle looks very similar. Im relatively sure it is not a real Morgan Dollar but it has the same eagle on it I believe. Maybe a token of some kind or a badge.
Thimbles often had a different type of metal on the tip. Many thimbles found in the US are tipped with lead. Maybe yours had some type of iron tip? I think its too thin for a cane tip(?).
It's great to see the return of "Sneaky Pete"! He brought you some good luck that both of you shared with the silver finds, well done! That silver thimble and spoon were killer finds! btw, it's 95 degrees F here in New Jersey.
An eagle holding arrows certainly seems like an American symbol, but I can’t find any military medals that look exactly like this. Might commemorate something during WWII?
The alloy medallion with the wings puts me in mind of a guardian angel medallion. Unfortunately I was unable to find one that matched exactly online but many were very similar. Thanks for all your videos, I thoroughly enjoy them.
Great dig, John !! You both did well. What is it, 6 or 7 times in a row with silver ? That is indeed a beautiful thimble. Sweet find !! Thanks !! Cheers !!
I saw a video the other day where the guy said soldiers would go around scavenging lead from everywhere to make bullets. Do you think some of the pieces you found over the years were something like window lead or anything they could find?
My son Christipher was in the US Coast Guard. Traveled the entire west coast of the US from The Mexican border to the Arctic circle in different ships. But he sent me the St Christopher with CG anchors

I concur..cane tips had a steel insert at the tip maybe?
This is the channel I most look forward to seeing new content from
Great to see Sneaky Pete back on the fields of Perthshire 🎉 and silver continues 🎉 ❤the thimble! Have a great weekend
That’s a griffin. You can see its lions head. I think it’s a petroleum advertisement token. 22:44
Good to see Pete with you today. Good finds for both of you.😊
My best guess for the spoon would be: Assay mark for London with the date letter of 1848, I believe the maker is Chawner & Co (George William Adams). He worked from 1840 to 1884 in Hosier Lane, Smithfield, London.
Sorry late watching John, thank you as always for the video 👍
Great vid, John, and thanks also to those who comment for interesting reading.

Cheers for the upload John, was needing something to watch after the golf!. Cheers
John that scroll work Pete dug up looked like the emblem for the General Electric Company badge.
What a nice way to start a cold blustery winter’s Sunday morning sitting by the fire here in Australia. Great to see Pete out again and some fantastic finds for you both.
It's about time you dug up some gold. Get on it!

Thanks John, lovely video. Both you and Pete had some wonderful finds. I love the thimble! Thanks!
Happy to see one of the boys has joined you 🥳
Many thanks! Nice to have another Detectorist for company and Pete was off to a flyer in typical Sneaky Pete style
Thanks for the trip to the fields with you and Pete. Great finds for the both of you. Cheers from Texas.
Another Great Vid! Could the thimble be a Cane topper? Looks very big for a timble? Either way, a great find! And well done to Pete 😁
John and Pete - Congratulations on your treasures. Thank you for the video.
Brilliant mon the hoops

That was also my first thought. The eagles design looks very similar to the eagle on the back of the US Morgan silver Dollars
Lovely to see you guys - thank you for the videos - they are a joy
yesterday it was 120 here in Arizona
Another fine job John! Great video as always. Thanks!
Pretty sure that 'gothic N' is actually the sign for Omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet. Thanks for the vid!
Pete's coin with a bird that you thought might be a heron looked like a cormorant to me. Live in SoCal 20 miles inland from the coast. This week were hitting our first 90 degrees F.
Nice finds.👍🏻
Good stuff guys glad to see sneaky Pete back

Nice to see you out and about tc thanks
I found that same 1861 Napoleon 111 coine here in the United States a few months ago our at an old miners camp. 😂 Pretty cool. Great episode 😁
Good hunt guys. Glad to see sneaky Pete's no longer camera shy

Nice vid John , I to found silver in my first hole 6pence only problem it took 3hrs to find the first hole welcome to sunny fields of Somerset
Great finds. So glad you had some warm weather.
Would not mind the 25 degree weather. Where i live in British Columbia we have been getting over 30 degree days. Stay hydrated.
Great video you made any changes too the jefthro program or is the same as the video you posted thanks….
Petes find at 8:47 is an American Dime i think
It’s the right size…
Good job John!
Excellent video, as usual, ty for sharing yr knowledge with us..I always love that❤
Looks very similar to a Dorcas thimble with the . Patent in sterling silver. You can see it on google. They come in various sizes.
The aluminum token has an eagle very similar to a Morgan silver dollar from the United States. Readers Digest used that eagle on tokens for its magazine, so it may be a similar publisher's token.
Could Pete’s unknown coin be a USA mercury head dime (10 cents)?
I enjoy the thimbles. There are so many designs and metal combinations. I hope you show a final clean up on this one. It is very unusual.
Enjoyed the video!

May I commend you on being one of the very few TH-cam presenters who doesn't start each episode with "What's up, TH-cam"
Great video maestro silver galore ! Thank you for doing these cheers 🥃
great finds John and good to see sneaky see you in Reston thanks again cheers
Very nice finds! And company today, hi Pete! I’m not a fan of 80 either, especially if it’s humid. We have that right now.
It's great to see the return of "Sneaky Pete"! He brought you some good luck that both of you shared with the silver finds, well done! That silver thimble and spoon were killer finds!
btw, it's 95 degrees F here in New Jersey.
The bird looks like an eagle w/ arrows clutched on his talons. Seems American
Hi Pete! I have never seen a thimble like that one, and I collect them. Congrats on all that silver!
that's a beautiful thimble, still on my bucket list..
I like how you edit over the top of a find so we can see it better and then fade it out 😆✌️
An eagle holding arrows certainly seems like an American symbol, but I can’t find any military medals that look exactly like this. Might commemorate something during WWII?
Maybe European. Note the dinner plate appearance, with the large edge.
that thimble is beautiful
at 22:32 the coin reminds me of "LOOK" magazine subscription coins from USA
with the Horner's patent
You say bout all your bottles tops I had 17 shotty caps on the bounce the other and they all blew my ears off😂
Ahh the joys of detecting. Thankfully our fields don’t have too many shotty caps, but there are a few around woodland that have a good supply!!
I do love a thimble John, cracking funds well done 🤩
The alloy medallion with the wings puts me in mind of a guardian angel medallion. Unfortunately I was unable to find one that matched exactly online but many were very similar. Thanks for all your videos, I thoroughly enjoy them.
not a bad day john and pete
Great dig, John !! You both did well. What is it, 6 or 7 times in a row with silver ? That is indeed a beautiful thimble. Sweet find !! Thanks !! Cheers !!
John, I’m not sure your thimble is a thimble? It’s beautiful though. Stellar day!
Candle snuffer? Cane tip?
Mate Congrats on yaws finds! Awesome video!
Lovely finds for both Pete and you John 👍👍👍👍
My Nan gave me a St Christopher when I joined the Army in 1988 😊
Pete's coin looks a bit like a willem 2 10 cents. They can Come up pretty blank and are very tiny
The aluminum token is from the USA the eagle design is the same as a Morgan dollar
The letter badge is: GPO - General Post Office
Could your thimble be a cane tip?
Could what you called a drawer pull be a chess pawn? Keep up the great work! I just love to see your finds and your history lessons are awesome.
Great finds and great video as always can I ask which program you are using on the deus 2? Thanks
It’s been awhile since I watched you. Do enjoy your channel
Waoo pnemuan luwar dugaan bang 👍👍👍♥️🥰
Pete’s button could be a phoenix which was the emblem of the Needham or Kilmorey Family
Would the thimble actually be a cane end with a steel protective tip
The button Pete got is us military I recognize the eagle that kind of looks like a chicken late 1700s early 1800s.
john what lidar map do you use?
I saw a video the other day where the guy said soldiers would go around scavenging lead from everywhere to make bullets. Do you think some of the pieces you found over the years were something like window lead or anything they could find?
On it john 😀💪🏴🏴🏴
@@fitfurnuffn hope you enjoy and have a great weekend
@@thescottishdetectorist thanks John all the very best 👍
@@fitfurnuffn you too
I think it's a US Mercury Dime.
Nice finds. You guys are over dressed for that weather. Till next time. Thanks from Canada
Looks like Amy Winehouse on Pete's little silver 🎉
My son Christipher was in the US Coast Guard. Traveled the entire west coast of the US from The Mexican border to the Arctic circle in different ships. But he sent me the St Christopher with CG anchors
can I ask where you got your little brush please
on the silver spoon the dot could be the assay office mark..the rose of Sheffield ?
First place 🥇
