- The variational quantum eigensolver is a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm used to estimate the lowest eigenvalue of a Hamiltonian representing a quantum system. It works by optimizing the parameters of a parametrized quantum circuit to minimize the expectation value of the Hamiltonian, which converges to the lowest eigenvalue. In this lecture we do a deep dive into the technical aspect of the algorithm.
