My cat had IBD, exact same symptoms as Beemo (vomiting and diarrhoea). That being said, IBD and Lymphoma present the exact same symptoms in cats. If Beemo is not responding to any changes in diet, then there is a chance it could be Lymphoma. Definitely worth doing a biopsy to rule it out. My cat did respond to diet changes (thus we safely ruled out Lymphoma), but it took some trial and error to find one that didn't trigger her. With IBD, cats will react to specific animal proteins, e.g. my cat had symptoms while eating lamb, but stopped when we switched her to turkey. Whatever food you try out with Beemo, it needs to be a single source of protein, so no mixing of different meats, otherwise you won't ever be able to figure out what's triggering him. Usually best to try out a protein that he has never been exposed to before. Also, please try consider feeding him a wet food diet. Unfortunately feeding cats dry food is like feeding them McDonalds, they're all highly processed foods (even the prescription ones) and lack the moisture content cats need. The two cat food brands that removed all symptoms from my cat were KatKin and Lily's Kitchen. Hope this helps him! 🙏

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. Wet food with high meat content and single source of protein, no dry food if possible, and no grain.
That being said, my cat HATED wet food with passion. I never stopped trying, though, and kept buying mountains of the most premium wet food till the end. (He wouldn't touch most of them...)
Luckily, I found grain-free dry food from a German brand with very high meat content. If your cat is like mine, try at least to feed them with high-quality dry food, otherwise wet food should always be preferred.

If Beemo’s food contains corn it may be one of the causes for his stomach distress. I actually watched one of my cats have an immediate allergic reaction, complete with diarrhea and hives, right after I fed them a well-known brand canned food. An emergency trip to our vet and eliminating all corn from their diet stopped the scary reactions.

Vet here. I’m really sorry about Beemo’s bowel problem. IBD is a really frustrating disease. I like to think of it as something like Irritable Bowel Syndrome that us, humans, have. So with my patients I usually enchance the ambient too, trying to lower down their anxiety and bring up their playful side. With this in mind, have you guys tried Feliway Difusor? It might help. Other strategies would be having more play time with him, putting more dens and plataforms in the apartament, etc. For some cats helps.

    • @2hearts1seoul
      @2hearts1seoul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks so much for the tips! It’s been so frustrating trying so many things and seeing no results for the past year and a half 😞 Beemo has never been a big ‘play guy’. We’ve bought so many different types of toys and try to get him interested, but he has zero interest in playing-starting when he was about 3 years old (he’s 8 now). We’ve got this great bookshelf cat tower for him with lots of levels and private cubbies, but he barely uses it 😅 He really doesn’t seem to crave high places. We’ve never thought of a Feliway Difusor though! We’ll have to give that a go!

Hey guys - glad you made it back safely! For Beemo, it reminds me a lot of something we went through with one of our kitties in 2020; she didn’t have much diarrhea, but she did have constant nausea and vomiting for weeks/months. We also went down several paths and they ruled out so many things to get to an eventual diagnosis (of exclusion) of IBD. After trying a lot of food options and probiotics, what eventually worked for her was a months-long course of steroids (I believe it was prednisone), with a slow taper, and Royal Canin hydrolyzed protein dry food. These foods are a little calorie dense so she’s a tiny bit on the chunky side, tho not unhealthily so. I hope he feels better soon and you can find a mix that works! I know it’s stressful. ❤
Quick edit - I saw another comment mentioning smaller/frequent portions! I’m not sure of his schedule, but this was helpful to both of our cats. They used to eat twice a day, but the gap irritated their stomachs a bit (reflux/gastritis, just like little humans lol) so 3 meals a day does well for them!

Hi guys, our cat had IBD. We tried every possible cat diet but it didn’t work. Then we started to feed her with raw meet 3 times a day (raw meat has natural enzymes), mostly chicken breast or rabbit with some supplements as spirulina or a drop of fish oil. You should try what type of protein is suitable for your cat. This helped a lot, she gain weight and spend with us few more years in relatively good health. I think that grain and corn in processed cat food causes this disease. Do not recommend to treat iBD with steroids, it may cause paralysis.

  • @lillettepinkerton8557
    @lillettepinkerton8557 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Look into a raw diet for Beemo. I had a cat with similar problems. The vet kept changing his food alone with meds. I eventually put him on a raw meat diet. A chicken meal would be just poultry, heart, gizzards or any part you can get. For beef it was the same. The natural diet for a cat is anything they can catch. To many fillers in the processed cat food today so the only way to see if its an allergy is to eliminate and try one protein at a time. My cat did well on this change and lived to a ripe old age. Good luck with your beautiful Beemo.

I know it sounds too simple, but chicken and rice porridge used to work for all my cats and kitties when they have digestive issues. I would also add probiotics such as Florastor in their food and also via syringes. However, none of the kitties I had had prolonged digestive issues. sometimes it was just "explosion" of runs by 8 kittens at the same time! (thank god, we had separate washroom just for the kittens!) Hi Sarah and Kyuho...glad you are safely back in Korea, and I hope you are gradually getting over jet lag and feeling more settled again. I did petsitting for over thirty years, along with having cats of my own. Two of the cats I babysat had difficult digestive issues. One had the cat version of celiac disease, which was hard to diagnose. However, once the vet realized it and they changed the cat's diet to all gluten-free foods (including cat treats), it had no more digestive problems. It was like night and day! The other cat may have had IBD or something similar, and it was more difficult to diagnose despite various tests. For that cat, they used prednisone periodically when the symptoms flared up, and also gluten-free foods seemed to help him. Sometimes we we added a small spoonful of pureed pumpkin to his cat food. He liked it, and it helped his digestion. I hope Beemo starts feeling better soon - sending many good wishes from California!

Our cat Woody, had similar symptoms (daily explosive (!!!) diarrhea, lots of vomiting, weight loss) and he looked just as emaciated as Beemo is at the moment.
Administered medication, trying out all a sorts of different organic cat food brands (dry and wet food) regular vet visits - nothing helped and we were getting more and more worried about him.
👉🏻 Only a switch to a 100% raw diet with mainly chicken offal instead of muscle meat helped him. We took the transition step by step (I’ve been a vegetarian for many years - so handling the raw meat was not easy for me). It slowly got better and after about 3 months we had the diarrhea and vomiting under control - so we needed to be patient. Now half a year later he's doing better than ever and he is literally thriving.
I really wouldn't believe that a diet change would have such a big impact if I hadn't experienced it myself with our boy Woody. Raw food is also no more expensive than the food from the vet - give it a try, it's definitely worth it. Cats are wild animals after all.
I am convinced that we all unintentionally feed our cats sick with all the processed food. I know this sounds a little bit „woowoo“ and I do not want to preach here - just talking from our experience with Woody‘s transition.
Get well soon, Beemo! And thanks for another great video 👍🏻♥️

@@2hearts1seoul hi Sarah, cats in their natural environment would NEVER be able to find cooked meat, therefore the anatomy of their stomachs wouldn’t allow for processing cooked anything. The most natural food, literally, DESIGNED BY NATURE, is mice. Since that can’t be on offer, bird is second choice (not lamb or beef or fish - those aren’t available for cats in nature). Raw turkey or chicken - I’ve been feeding minced poultry to my cat for the past few months, I can’t describe the changes in her well-being, it’s incredible how she has healed, so I swear by it. Bear in mind that it takes a few good months for the animal’s stomach to heal. Hope Beemo will feel better.

In the meantime, consider giving Beemo IV fluids since he is losing precious water with diarrhea. It's a bit of learning if you're squeemish about inserting the needle.
I concur the sentiment others have made about dry food; prescription food is no different as it has very inflammatory ingredients like corn, wheat and soy which aren't designed for cats (obligate carnivores). They must always have moisture in every meal since the dry food puts them at a constant state of dehydration. Cats become very kibble addicted which will make it hard to transition to a fresh, moisture rich, species appropriate diet.
Kibble is processed using high heat extrusion. This is carcinogenic.
Jackson Galaxy & Dr. Karen Becker have been my sources for all things 🐈 cat.
Just saying this out of LOVE for Beemo and you guys. ❤️

I went through the IBD thing with my soul kitty for years. He was a big tabby guy and weighed 23 lbs, so he had to go on a wet food diet to slim down some. He never had issues until after he got down to about 15 lbs. He had an insatiable appetite and eating like crazy, but was still losing weight. Then the IBD symptoms started. His vets did tests on him regularly and couldn’t find anything wrong with him. They did a food allergy test and he had some food allergies, so we adjusted his cat food and he did okay for a while, then started up again with the IBD. So we’d run more tests, try another food, and so on. He seemed healthy aside from his tummy issues. When he was 13.5, he suddenly showed symptoms of heart failure. I rushed him to the ER and they found he had an enlarged heart and cardiomyopathy. His regular vet ran some more tests and found his thyroid was completely out of whack…hyperthyroid. This was the first time the thyroid tests came back with an issue, and his vet said the heart issue was a result of the hyperthyroid. It was all very frustrating, upsetting, and stressful, and super expensive, but we did everything we could do. We were baffled as to why the previous tests over the years didn’t pick up any thyroid problems. It remains a mystery. Anyway, that was our experience with kitty IBD. It was rough. The worst part was knowing it can’t have been comfortable for my boy to have recurring scoots. I know people with IBD and it’s miserable for them. I can’t imagine how it feels for a little cat. Hopefully, Beemo’s is just a food allergy thing or something simple that you can manage with the right food and meds. There’s gotta be something that eventually works to calm his little gut. Poor dude. You guys are doing everything you can do for him, and observe him well. He’s got wonderful parents who take the best care of him. He’s lucky to have you. Get well soon, Beemo!

My cat has never had IBD, but I have way to may years of experience with illnesses with both dogs and cats. I've learned that cats are inefficient drinkers. Getting a water fountain bowl will help make sure your baby is getting enough water and wet food is also a good way for them to get in water. You might be able to look into making his food at home if the prescription medication doesn't work. Giving you all the best wishes for the best outcome for Beemo. :)

Welcome back to your home in Korea! So glad you are reunited with Beemo and we're wishing nothing but the best for Beemo's health. Hope you are able to manage his diarrhea soon. Glad you are planning to return to Canada during Christmas. Something both you and your family can look forward to. By the way, has Kyuho tried wearing his special glasses in Korea? I'll bet when he puts them on there, it will be a new Korea he has yet to enjoy. I'm so glad you were able to spend so much time in Canada relaxing, visiting, and sharing. I have not seen my son, who lives in Japan, for 17 years now and I am hoping to visit him next year in October or so. As always whenever I travel to Japan, I have to spend time in Korea first. I miss Korea so very much! Prayers and positive thoughts sent your way for Beemo's well being. Also, thanks for the information and discount for the beauty box from Wishtrend. I just placed my order! Take care. Aloha, Darlene

I have had IBD for a long time and know the struggles managing the condition. Also My cats (12 year old males) have had gastro issues so I did what I do when I flare. In addition to better diet - Lots of water, and like with myself, it helped immensely. Since it’s hard to get cats to drink water I got a fountain which they love. I also pay attention to where they drink. Plant trays, rain in windowsills, etc. Then I modify the area for them. Plant trays with aquarium rocks placed around which I fill with water daily, small bowls on the windowsill with water. And so on. Believe it or not they drink often from all these places. Maybe because they think they aren’t supposed to??? Afterall -cats lol
Definitely wishing Beemo all the best.

Just like you guys we did allllllll the tests bloodwork ultrasound X-ray endoscopy etc… we were on an HA diet to eliminate animal protein, tried motility pills, psyllium powder, now on visbiome probiotic, and now we are just trying a new food that is salmon based. $6000+ dollars in and we’re still trying to figure it out. It’s very frustrating, but I hope we both will find a solution for our fury family members 😌

My cat has IBD and I completely understand the frustration and stress you’re going through! I thankfully found which food works best for my cat as well as how to feed her. I know every cat is different but here is what worked for my cat:
I combine dry and wet food. I feed her the following:
Dry food: Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Hydrolyzed Protein
Wet food: Hills prescription diet skin/food sensitivities z/d
I also feed her small portions 4 times a day. Doing this greatly helped her and I think this is what changed her health.
Maybe try to feed Beemo smaller portions throughout the day? I know there’s no perfect formula but I hope he feels better soon! It’s a lot of trial and error but you’ll find what works best for him!

My family and I live with cats from the time I was a baby. So we have cats all these years. Most of the cats have passed on due to some kind of illness mostly kidney and gastro. The only cat I remembered, a Siamese female called Tina, lived with us from kitten to the ripe old age of 21 (human years). I remember my late parents used to feed her fresh bengal fish boiled. That’s her daily staple and she loved it. Tina ate the fish and drank the juice. She has no illness throughout her life. She died of old age and it’s so planned that she left us when my sister, Liza was away overseas after her graduation. Liza grew up with Tina and always accompanied Liza when she studied and burnt the midnight oil. 😪.
Not sure I can do that as I’m working whereas mum stayed home all the time. Dad always go to the market to buy fresh bengal fish.

My male cat lost a lot of weight, too. He has been seeing a vet internist for the last few years. She hasn’t been able to diagnose him, but recommended monthly b12 shots, prescription food ( Royal Canin PV, PD or PR , the wet food ones) and insulin shots. He also has to take Budosodine once a day( cat version of prednisone). The different vets we saw in the past recommended wet food for male cats, and the internist validated it. I noticed that he doesn’t puke as much when the food doesn’t have too much fatty residue in them. These are what our vet recommended, but every cat has a different situation, so please check with Beemo’s vets first. Hoping Beemo’s vet(s) will have answers, or provide guidance. 🐾

My cat also started seeing a specialist for his IBD after we noticed he was losing weight but his appetite hadn’t changed. His x-rays, abdominal sonograms, full blood work, lungs, thyroid, kidney, liver, and heart were also normal. It’s important that beef, chicken, and pork be eliminated from his diet completely, not even in treats as these are the foods that cats develop an allergy to.
She put him on Royal Canin PD and he did well on it for about two years. He started losing weight again so she switched him to Hill’s Z/D and he gained half a kilo in three days.
His doctor said cats can develop an allergy to single protein foods which is probably what happened with his Royal Canin PD but that Hill’s Z/D doesn’t have anything that his GI can be irritated by. Not sure if you’ve tried either of those two but it worked for us.

    For beemo's IBD 🌟
My dog when he got really old had a very sensitive stomach, the doctors again weren't much help because they said " just accept it he's old "...
I tried researching about as many herbs and natural foods that can be easy on its stomach.
Whenever they have a reactive phase where stomach acids are imbalanced, try not feed animal protein, instead something light like banana and curd, this helps to bind the stomach.
Cooking food from scratch, where you have picked the ratios and quality is the best way to go in my opinion. Praying for his recovery 💗🌷

So glad to see your journey home video. I hope you can find the right food for Beemo. One of my first 2 cats had IBS, which is not as bad as IBD but similar. His diarrhea was horrible. It's such a game of roulette... you have to keep trying different foods to find out what he will react to and what he won't. I wish back then I had known how to do a raw diet (I learned about it from a client who fed a raw diet to her cat, but that was after my sweet Sergio was gone). From my experience, the more natural the food, the better. Sergio seemed to react more to food that had additives in it. One thing I did find helpful was pro-biotics, but there are different "grades"... some are better than others just as with human pro-biotics. Please keep us updated on how he's doing.
I also bought your skincare box. I usually hesitate to do that because my skin has become very dry and very sensitive. When I was younger, I thought my oil production would never stop, but when I got into my late 50's, suddenly my skin became very dry. No matter what moisturizer I tried, my skin was still dry and flakey... and if I used something harsh, it would also become very red and irritated. I know you two have sensitive skin so I hope these products will help me too. I'm am the worst at skincare as I never developed a routine from an early age (my mother didn't have a skincare routine either). Thank you for always introducing great products.

I'm sorry about Beemo. I have a dog who has severe allergies- environmental and dietary. She is allergic to any carb source, and no matter how "grain free" a dog food may be, it still uses some sort of starch as a key ingredient. As a result she has bad skin, gets frequent ear infections, has GI issues, anal gland issues etc. etc. etc. I can understand how frustrating it is to never seem to get the problem under control, or right once you do, something else pops back up. And the amount of money, it's a gut punch every time! The things we do for our pets! I am just thankful I found her because I know most people wouldn't pay as much attention to her, and more likely would have surrendered her. Thank god Beemo came into your lives as well. While it often seems like a constant battle, I hope there is still an option out there that can better control his symptoms.
I am not a vet, so obviously I don't know treatment courses, but with my dog, I did consider long term steroids at one point. I know that is the last option and vets might not even be open to it because they'll cause other issues, but if it improves his quality of life, it might be something to think about.
I have my dog on an immunomodulator which helps keep her allergies from being in a constant state of flare up. Every vet tries to push 6 month blood work on her because unfortunately there can be significant side effects. However, we always refuse the blood work because this is the only medication that gives her a quality of life. If it causes her cancer, or she only lives to 6 years vs 12+ because of it, so be it. With out this medication she would eventually stop eating (she did that before this medication) and likely die from malnutrition, and she'd be miserable in the process. So there's no point in blood work because nothing it shows is going to change her treatment plan.
Sorry, that was long winded, but the point is, sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks. If long-term steroids would help him, it might be worth it instead of constantly having flare-ups, and the frustrations and feelings of hopelessness that comes with them. Again, long-term steroids can cause other issues, so the vet would have to weigh the pros and cons, but it's something to think about.
Lastly, and this maybe dramatic, but I just want to add that you guys are Beemo's ( as well as your own ) advocate. I don't know how vets are in Korea, but if they seem reluctant to try steroids and only offer options to treat flare-ups instead of options to try and manage symptoms/prevent constant flare-ups, then unfortunately it is going to fall on you guys to stand up for Beemo/yourselves. Again, quality-of-life comes into play here at a certain point, for both Beemo and yourselves. If nothing works and you are constantly having to take him to the vet and spend thousands of dollars because of it, that is not a viable option either. I would hope vets would be understanding to this, but you never know, and I just wanted to put that out there as someone who has to advocate for my dog constantly as well.

Hi Sarah and Kyuho, I just recently received samples of some Klairs products and I'm so happy to see that some of them are your favorites! I'm just about to start trying them. But I'm wondering, do either of you have a favorite sunscreen? I have sensitive skin (like Kyuho) and I'm really struggling to find one I can tolerate. I live in the US and the chemical sunscreen filters in US sunscreens burn my skin and make my eyes water, but the US mineral sunscreens feel and look like thick paste on my face (even the tinted ones). I've been watching your videos for years and you both have such beautiful skin, and when you film outdoors your sunscreen (I assume you're wearing sunscreen) doesn't appear thick and obvious on your skin. I remember watching one of your videos from quite a while back where Kyuho was going to different stores and patch testing different sunscreens (I'm pretty sure they were sunscreens) and some of them made him break out in a hive or two where he applied them. That's how sensitive my skin is too.

      3) Cosrx: Aloe soothing sun cream (for cooler months)

Cats with IBS or IBD usually do better on natural probiotic and wet food. I hate prescription diets. Prescription diets here in the US are extremely overpriced bags full of crap.
I would recommend full wet food with strong probiotics. Something like a fermented goats milk or cow kefir for animals. You can make this at home (if you can't find it in store) by using raw goat or cow milk and mixing your favorite pet probiotic into it.
Wet food is always easier to digest so hopefully that helps. I also told people to read the ingredients on prescription foods. A lot of time, the ingredients are terrible.

Glad to see you guys are back in Korea and doing well!
For Beemo, is there any radiologic imaging they can do? My elderly cat (he passed last year, sadly, at the ripe old age of 17) had some kind of intestinal lymphoma and for him, the first indicator was that his kidney values were high, but he also had a lot of inflammation in his intestines that we found through sonograms, which was what led us to that diagnosis (like Beemo, he had lost a lot of weight, and he also didn't have a lot of appetite). I wonder if they could do x-rays and sonograms for Beemo and if that would tell you anything? Or even like allergy testing to see if there's some kind of protein or compound that's common in the food as an additive or bulking agent that he has an allergy to?
I unfortunately don't have a cat with IBD, but I'm a human with IBS and the best thing for me was doing an elimination diet to find my "trigger" foods? I'm not sure how or even if that is possible for a cat, though. I wonder if you could feed him just like..... Regular ass chicken for a while and slowly introduce stuff back to him to see if there's something that triggers it, or keep a record of the food he's trying and see if there's a common ingredient between the ones that set his tummy off. 🤷‍♀️
It's always tough with pets because they can't just TELL US what's wrong, you know? It can be so frustrating and heartbreaking. I feel for you guys. Hopefully you figure it out soon! ♥️
Edit: I don't know if it's possible for cats to have celiac disease, but one thing to keep in mind in terms of dietary needs is that cats are obligate carnivores, meaning in the wild they eat only meat and they typically derive their nutrient needs from killing and eating prey such as birds, mice, voles, etc. Most commercial and even veterinary foods will have vegetables and grain matter in them that cats aren't really evolved to digest. It may be worth trying Beemo on a raw diet to see how he does without fillers that we typically see in other cat foods. It's expensive but so is special vet food, so.

So sorry about your kitty 😢
Beemo has had several X-rays and sonograms in the past year and a half. The only thing it shows is his large intestine is inflamed. His kidney, pancreas, liver levels etc. are all normal-AND his appetite is just as big as ever. He was also tested for allergies and nothing showed up there either.
We’re currently trying to find and eliminate trigger foods, but it’s pretty stressful. Poor dude 🥺

There have been a lot of really great comments here, I hope that you're able to find something that works for him soon! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

my mom gave our cats raw egg on top of tuna. (not every day but like 3x week) Our cats were huge. Best wishes for Beemo's good health. 😺💕😺💕😺💕😺

Hi Sarah and Kyuho! Have you tried looking into Holistic treatments for Beemo? I'm assuming that Eastern Medicine practices are more encouraged in Korea, but from what it looks like in your videos, the vets you have been seeing are using a lot of Western medicine techniques? (

Is Beemo's food completely grain free/ vegetable free? With cats being obligate carnivores, the fillers in many cat foods can cause problems in the long term. You might want to consider trying a fresh meat diet (including offal for particular vitamins) which they would naturally eat, and see if that helps.

Raw cow and calf heart slices in little dices did the trick for one of our cats 🐈‍⬛

As a life long cat owner and having a vet in the family i actually would say that beemo might just be very lonely. Cats are not supposed to be held as singles, in my country you can't even adopt single cats because they suffer mentally. i think his issues are from not having a cat around him, it really messes them up. Look into that guys
