A great song, and it pleased me to note that an old friend of mine from Salford in the UK, John Cooper Clark, made an artistic contribution to this great series.
We have RL's Kids and the North Mississippi Allstars to thank for this too. They are the ones who decided to put a new flavor to RL's music as a tribute kind of respect thing, and probably just out of love. Together they lay it down in this day and age, just as it did 50 years ago, to please first time listeners at a concert or just their neighbors and friends down the road.Check out Live @ Bonnaroo / The North Miss Allstars / Hill Country Blues 2002 (I think) Good album!
This song title is being carved even now onto the tombstone of the west and more specifically--the country. The rhythm and blues is providing the nation's soundtrack now in real time. Death dance...in progress(ive) demise. "Everything is broken up and dances"~Jim Morrison The ghost of Karl Marx is gleefully rubbing his hands over the final bonfire of our republic and considers his earthly life a success....I've got a feeling Kansas is not in America anymore. It's bad, you know.
Actually the song is about a sandwich R.L.'s wife had made him. The mayo had gone bad. She asked him why he was not eating it, so he just went on and told her, "It's bad you know." He told this story in an interview. He may have been joking. He liked telling stories. He was known as a story teller also. So, who knows? It really does not matter, because it's bad either way.
Hip-hop kid produces an old blues guy. Love it!
