Great video and super helpful! I have the same van and am planning on doing pretty much the same bed set up as you. I really like the idea of leaving the velcro off of the furthest forward beam to be able to convert into a single bed. Great idea! Love all the storage space the Skorva beams allow with not having to put in support legs. I'm going to try to leave about 10" between the bed and the rear doors to put my mountain bike. Cheers!
I went to the customer service counter at IKEA in Sunrise, Florida. They didn’t have any in stock but they asked me how many I wanted and shipped them directly to my house for free. Took about 10 days to deliver.
Wish I could post a photo. It looks great! Last step is putting in the "security screw." Did you have to drill new hole in the bracket for the security screw?
I'm heading to ikea to buy the telescoping rails for my e-150 now. I had a hunch the slats might better than plywood. When I found your video I was glad to know I am on the right path with building my bed. Thank you!🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️
Did removing the plastic panel over the AC make the van any louder when driving? Like does all the stuff jingle around more? I have been afraid to take mine off in case I screw anything up in the HVAC section.
What size is your mattress? Where did you get it? What tool did you use to cut the plastic panels out? I have the same van 2003. This video was really helpful! Wish you did more videos on your build. I keep watching it over and over in case I missed something 😊Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Check out this link. th-cam.com/video/8UgRPFAdQ08/w-d-xo.html Thats a full tour of my van. The mattress is a full size. Got it at a local store. Fits a bit tight, but fits. Wanted to do more videos on the build but just got involved in the work
@@staciebamsch2810 omg I am so sorry I sent the wrong link. I have a video on my TH-cam channel that you can see my full van build. Sorry for the mixup.
Great! The slats were really nice. The give the bed some spring? I guess that's how I would explain it. Plywood is solid. Also, the slats gives air to the underside of your mattress. Thanks for watching!
With everything at Ikea they have Part # for it, do you have such numbers for those Brackets ? Also can you spell out the name / wording for the brackets ? I could decipher it when you said the nae of the brackets,
@@MikeAndTheGreatOutdoors I can confirm that this is the product # and you have to call customer support for them to ship it out to your for FREE. They didn't even ask to confirm that I bought the beams from Ikea. Free brackets (6 total) and cost a total of $50 on Amazon.
You would be slightly touching both ends, but I think it would be comfortable. I do have the stock side panels in the van still. Removing them, would give you another 1.5 inches
Here is a link for the rails. You also need the wood slats www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/skorva-center-support-beam-galvanized__0636189_pe697703_s5.jpg?f=xl Bed slats www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/luroey-slatted-bed-base__0268303_pe406267_s5.jpg?f=xs
@@breakingames7772 just so y’all know, the shipping from Amazon crams the rails together, and they seem impossible to get apart. Wd40 and in my case a hammer and wood block may be required. It’s hard, but possible
Cool solution. Lots of storage, thanks for sharing

Thank you! It's what I was going for. It smell of Cedar all the time! Thans for watching!
My ikea gave the brackets to me for free right when I got the rails. I was so happy they had a bunch in stock. Gave me extra screws too.

Thanks for watching. I've done this bed in two vans. They work great
Wish I could post a photo. It looks great! Last step is putting in the "security screw." Did you have to drill new hole in the bracket for the security screw?
Yes I had to make a new hole for the security screws. I used self tapping screws. Congrads!
Good video.
Thanks for the visit
Dude, THANK YOU!! I do not at all like what I have now for a bed ! My concern is I'm 300 pounds we'll see what happens! No video of that just incase!
You're welcome! It will hold 300lb easy. Add a couple more screws to the brackets. Thanks for watching!

What’s the size of the screws ? I have the brackets. I was lucky , I got it the same. I’m just not sure what are the right screws to buy …
Thanks for watching!
I used 3/4" self tapping metal screws. You can get them at any hardware store. Lucky you getting the brackets!
Seems like the bed would be more than 54 inches wide with two sets of twin slats, but I guess it is because they overlap
They overlap roughly an inch
A twin Luroy is like 38" wide so how is the bed only 54" wide?
Its a full size
Of course! I've been wanting to do this a while and I finally have time. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry to be dense.
Your fine. Its a simple sturdy solution
i Got the bed done I got some plywood instead of the slats..how did the slats work?

How long is the bed? My guy is six ft tall. You sleep sideways right?
I'm 5'9. I can lay straight. Anyone taller would have to sleep at a slight angel. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the rails
Ikea, along with the wooden slats to support the mattress. Thanks for watching!
What's the length? Looks too short to do a horizontal bed maybe 55-60in? Cot is 70in and twin is 75in in length.
I'm 5"9 and have a couple inches to spare. Taller people can sleep slightly at an angle. Thanks for watching!
Is this an Astro van?
No ford e350
