I must be an antique too! I had a sewing basket exactly like this one as a very young girl - aged 5. I’m 55 now! Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺
My husband and I went to a thrift store a few days back and I was specifically looking for an old sewing basket!!!! I found two sewing boxes, but they were cracked plastic and really beyond repair. They were more like tackle boxes. Yours is a treasure. I love the way it turned out!!!! I will keep looking!!!!!!
Love these vintage baskets! I have one my godmother bought for me in 1975. It has the same woven sides that new ones don't have. I've used it all these years and it has held up really well.
Oh Maud this is wonderful! I love the way you showed how to glue the liner to the bottom first! It turned out totally awesome! Could you show us a little of how you make the needle case? That would be wonderful!
Maud, this was wonderful. I love to take something old and worn and bring back its beauty. You did a splendid job. Thank you for sharing your workings with us. Hugs to you. 🥰❤
This project brought back some memories for me. I was given a similar sewing basket for Christmas in the early ‘70’s, and I used it for years. It was nice to see this one so lovingly restored. Cheers from NE Florida!
So fun Maud! I laughed when you said, “my family can wait, I have to keep going!” Happens to me too! I just have to keep going! 😅 when I’m in the zone, no distractions! 😂 This turned out so beautiful Maud! I picked up some lessons watching this video! Tfs!🥰🙌🏼
Hey sweetie, so fun to read that you are the same when in the zone 🌹❤️🧚♀️ when you take your basket apart, watch for clues to guide you in constructing it back again. Hugs, Maud 🌹🧚♀️❤️
Yes, & this is definitely vintage & not antique! I remember very clearly that kids at primary school (State School back then) were using these when I was in Prep & Grade One in Victoria, Australia. That was back in 1965 & 1966.I refuse to be labelled an antique! I’m definitely vintage - at 61 y/o - but haven’t worked up or down to antiquity yet!
I love how you have given the sewing box a new life. This box does bring back memories of being a young child and being so intrigued by my aunts sewing box which was so very much like this one, but a different color.
I have always wanted to do this! You are so lucky to have found this wonderful basket and made it so much more beautiful yet very useful! You did a lovely job! Thank you for showing us & sharing your process. Really love this. From Michigan, USA
Hi, I enjoyed watching this, but would like to see the little dolls finished off. I could only find part 3 is there a 4th showing how you did the hair and clothes?
Thank you for watching, but I do not understand the doll question at all. I have a playlist on dollmaking, perhaps you can find what you are looking for here: th-cam.com/play/PLDbpOlpgc0yTKF_DQTr7XA-7uaeaCconk.html
When I'm in a bad mood, I play one of your videos and all my grievances float away!
😊❤️
You have made me look at thrift store finds in a different way. Thank you for the inspiration. Again.
Yeahhhhh😊
