I had a supposedly very good friend, asked to help him take stuff for him to Malaysia, I said no problem but under two conditions, 1. Buy extra luggage, 2. U bring the bag 2 or 1 day before my trip. Baba said oh he wants to bring it to me at the airport the day of my flight that he would bribe the airport official. Dude didn’t buy the extra luggage, finally brought the items 10pm the night to my flight. Only to open the luggage all the items there no one belongs to him, they are from different part of the country. I called him and said come pick up you luggage tomorrow from this location and I turned off my phone. Dude refused to talk to me and that’s how the friendship ended. I got to Malaysia they held my own luggage for 1hr they checking now imagine I foolishly carried it. Yo I don’t care who u are I ain’t carry shit

I was in Nigeria earlier this year to care for my mum at her end of life. In my vulnerability, I was asked to take back some medication by a contact for her relative in the UK. She was claiming the drug are expensive to purchase in the UK. Meanwhile, I am aware that as part of the so called receiver's benefits in the UK is to get free medication. I said to the woman that I'm not comfortable carrying the medication. I offered to go to the local pharmacy in Nigeria and purchase the ones to carry. But she didn't take up my offer.
As sick as my mum was when the discussions were going on, my mum mumbled, 'it's drugs don't carry it'. The instincts of a dying mother. My mum subsequently passed on days later.

Depending on ones definition of poverty , if you take a statistical analysis of engineers , medical doctors , lawyers and educationists especially from the south eastern region in the age bracket of 50 - 80 or more 90% come from a well defined poor background so how did their parents perform the magic ??? Constructive associations , honesty , trust and savings from objective labouring not luxury

I am not Nigerian, poverty is often used by some Nigerians as a reason to commit HEINOUS crimes outside their homeland. Tochi was lead to his death by a fellow Nigerian. Nigerians always hv something to say about anything, in fact most highly opinionated than any other African. How come Nigerians don't come with guns blazzing vs this curse brought by their compatriots to the mother continent?

Will the government know about every individual person and their talents? You must be on television, or play in multiple places and get attention of people, government etc. He already represented Nigeria in Coca Cola West Africa match.
He did not stay in Nigeria but the family supported that he go to Senegal and play there. What did you expect Nigeria government to do? Stop him from traveling? He went from Senegal to Pakistan based on deceiving agent. While listening to all these deceptive people, you cannot blame them, but all of these na Nigerian government faults?
People cannot exercise their civic responsibilities, behave well, love one another, practice birth control, plan for life, ask for help etc. Instead with total disregard for any resources within, the mind is on outside country. When japa plans fail, it is the Nigeria government fault. Everything in this life is the Nigeria government fault, because we citizens no get any responsibility..

This story kept me thinking for 24 hours. I have heard it before but your analysis is spot on. The comment section is telling that many would have been made drug mules.
The themes I gather from this story is Poverty of a youth, resilience, struggles and naivety. Under no circumstances should anyone below age 25 whose pre frontal cortex or lobe (ie the part of the brain responsible for decision making) has not developed be made a bread winner of any family.
Tochi's extended family failed him, his community and county Nigeria failed him till the point of his death and burial.
I applaud the Singaporean president and judges for sticking to the letters and spirit of their laws of their land without cowering to the International Community or being sentimental. It may sound insensitive but drugs desteoy the lives of its users and to protects her citizens... Singapore wasted Tochi. This case should be a lesson to countries as frail as Nigeria that when laws are adhered to sanity comes. Singapore of 2024 and Singapore of 1970 are a big difference. In 1970 drugs ruined their youth. No wonder 63% of the population opt in favour of the death penalty. Go to northern Nigeria and see how drug use has ruined families. Nigeria 🇳🇬 needs to learn from Singapore 🇸🇬 😢

If Nigerians had gone back to St. Andrews Church in Islamabad to look for the person Tochi was hanging out with they would have found the Smith.
This shows the beauty of seriousness of leaders like Singapore and the laxity of Nigerian government. Mind you Nigeria has an embassy and High Commission in Karachi and Islamabad respectively.

The issue of Tochi is a foundational problem in Nigeria, people just want to recieve free money without asking where the money Come from. We have to restore values of hard work no free money anywhere, all these helper testimonies is a scam

    • @guchymaris175
      @guchymaris175 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

You're 💯 right, people believe in "Destiny Helpers" and wait patiently for free help but forget that nothing good comes easy, "nothing is free, even in Freetown".
The problem is so rooted that most Nigerians believe they're entitled to being helped just because they know someone or voice out to someone but they fail to critically analyse some red signs and warnings. In every "free help" someone is being "used" or ignorantly taken advantage of.
It's a pity the way Tochi trusted that Mr Smith and expected to collect that amount of money from Malachi on his behalf just for running errands/delivering medicine. This was held against him in the Singapore court. It's so unfortunate that even in recent times, majority of people still fall into this kind of issues for overly trusting people and believing in free help.

In 2015 I went to Nigeria for a 3 months break from Malaysia. This guys that likes stressing his a pastor called me a week before my return and asked I bring back “antibiotics” for him from his brother in Nigeria. I said no problem tell your brother to come to the airport and we go to customs and the airline counter and tell them these items are not mine. He hung up 😂😂😂😂😂😂

It's not only never trust anyone, it's even stay away from people, i recalled my days of living in Italy, a certain guy called another friend then to accompany him to the airport in northern Italy, the guy promised him some monetary rewards and a promise to fill his car tank bur should help him pick up his friend coming from Spain, the friend went, even myself am not aware if the whole thing, my guy not knowing that the very guy he went to pickup in airport were coming to deliver drugs to the guy, thats how they deceived the guy, luckily they were not caught. What is the bottom line, simply do not trust anyone including your so called friends, protect yourself at all times, never allow anyone to take advantage of your friendship to use you for his selfishness

Am so very sad and upset about how Tochi's life ended😢 😔. Poverty....Shame on you!!!! Nigeria government has disappointed and failed us as a country especially the youths, how underage go dey struggle to fend for his family? I wished he didn't go to that hotel coz the amount of hours he spent there till a room was available, he could have just relaxed within the airport there. Smith...you sent the innocent boy to his early grave....Karma will not spearhead you IJMN ! RIP Tochi 😢 😢

So call Smith is a very bad person, he knew what Tochi and he didn't tell him to leave the Airport as far as he knew the receiver is not coming on time, The spirit of the Tochi will torment him to death, the story make me cry, Nigeria Govt are too slow, they need to improve on diplomatic matter like this, look at the American interfaces on the recent incident with their citizen with Nigeria Government.

It’s sad that a life had to cease for us to have this lesson.
I have cousins that like to play football and hoped to take it as career. I remember telling them, should you get any assistance to pursue this goal, if anyone ask you to take anything with you, please don’t.
Let the person go use courier services. Tochi died of ambition and desire to save his family. His case was a sad one, and let’s be honest, the judge was just being extreme. That’s a nonsense judgement. He could have held him for a lesser charge and not send him on for death. God rest his soul continually.
