    Love the idea of the wind turbines...I'd like to have an all electric narrowboat, and this may help do that!

    That widebeam was so well designed and it seemed much longer than 58 feet! I loved it but the restrictions on cruising would always put me off buying one. I also like the cosy feel of a narrowboat. It’s always interesting looking at new boats and boaty products so thanks for sharing your visit to Crick. I always enjoy your videos.

      Truth seeker I don’t know if you are aware but a narrowboater from England took his boat to the USA and he wrote a book about his experience. He’s called Terry Darlington and the title of the book is Narrow Dog to Indian River. It might be interesting for you. I don’t know of anyone taking a widebeam, that would be a bit of a task but they are fabulous boats. I watched a boatyard near my marina build a 72 foot x 12 foot boat and it was fantastic. The guy who owned it took it to London and moored it on the Thames to live in. Lucky man!

    Combine the Hybrid system with solar and the turbines and that will amount to something. Question is these guys are all technologies competing with one another and might not be talked into working together. I believe this could be a step towards total off grid living and that is the ultimate goal.

    Great vid, thank you! So interesting to see new technology, especially the wind turbines....did he give a ballpark figure as to how much one of those little beauties would set you back??

    The hybrid is the obvious choice

    Why is he comparing the cost of the widebeam to a house in London? The two are unrelated. Plus most boats don't appreciate in value

    LOL, When the sun goes down no power to solar panels ,What about NO wind on your wind generators ??? No answer .

    • @ZacharyDenman
      @ZacharyDenman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could use the engine? as the solar/wind energy charges the battery...

    So the widebeam guy oversold his boats, then the wind generator guy oversold his generators, and then the engine guy oversold his engines.

      On their website gigaturbines claim a single fan will produce 30W at 13 m/s, and for that they want £400? Hell no!
      So a double fan would produce 60W, not 100W as the guy said.
      I estimate they have a 0.3m diameter, so the maximum power available in the wind is 235W
      30W/235W =

    • @hermitoldguy6312
      @hermitoldguy6312 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You asked the widebeam guy "can it go anywhere?"
      The honest answer was "no" - unless you put it on a trailer.

    • @hermitoldguy6312
      @hermitoldguy6312 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The engine guy was selling fairy tales - all the appliances you want, and silently gliding through the water with none of that nasty engine noise.
      Without that nasty engine noise, you'd have squat. And the price? A mere £5,000 to £7,000 *more* than doing it some other way! Ha! Good one!
