Digimon has suffered a horrible identity crisis with their games. DW3 made me fall in love with digimon and there hasn’t been another game like it since.
These Digimon games could indeed learn a bit from how Pokémon, despite also diversifying itself in multiple genres, at least has consistent naming to better indicate which genre fans could expect. In addition to the mainline Pokémon games, which are almost certainly the turn-based monster-catching RPGs that we all know and love, there's also the following spinoff series: - Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: a sub-series of dungeon-crawling turn-based RPGs, like Gauntlet, or Crypt of the Necrodancer). - Pokémon Snap: the on-rails 1st-person Pokémon photography game. - Pokémon Rumble: the top-down Pokémon beat-em-up. - Pokémon Conquest: the Fire-Emblem-esque tactical turn-based RPG. - Pokken Tournament: the Tekken-like fighting game. - Pokémon Legends: Arceus: the open-world hybrid between traditional Pokémon RPG mechanics and Monster-Hunter-esque fighting against Pokémon as the trainer. Of course, there was also Pokémon Stadium, Stadium 2, Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness, and Battle Revolution, all of which (prior to Pokémon X and Y) allowed players to port their portable Pokémon game saves to a 3-dimensional screen on the TV, and watch them battle and take on a variety of more difficult challenges. Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness also gave players a separate single-player campaign that focused more on difficult double-battles and capturing and purifying Shadow Pokémon.
I get that but I feel like the lack of identity IS it's charm. It's fully carried by the lore, Digimon and atmosphere and you can make any game or scenario out of it and it'll be good. If I ever want more of a genre I need to go out and look for more games and improve not only the amount of games I play but also the kinds of games I play. Absolutely not the most widespread take I know but pigeonholing Digimon's games to a single genre would make it so boring. Plus, it might fall into the curse pokemon has where everything is optimised and there's barely any variance on the top mons. All hidden stats will be uncovered and the magic will be lost, relying on the pokemon damage calculator to win games. Pokemon fans just play pokemon and replay the games to death making everything rare turn normal and insignificant. I know more about pokemon than I do Digimon but I love Digimon so much more
And aswell the problem of digimon games is that when they make the new one with digimon ip they alwalys make it targeting for kids audience, the problem all fans has already ground up. If the kids they can just watch anime , but luckily someone took over and push the idea of targeting aldults audience. Created Digimon Cybersluth and it was a big hit for western players, the sales was there and created second series already. Bad news is the guy that incharge has been replace , so it maybe sad news 😥 at least the person said the one taking over him is in safe hand. Btw personally i like digimon 1. Because its theme on original digivice.
@@Tjad Cyber Sleuth has been the best "modern" Digimon game i played in years. Sure, its not like the old games where you would train and feed your digimon or as complex/satisfying as the game they used as base for the combat(SMT), but damn it was great to have something that just works without some weird gimmick.
Digimon Cyber Sleuth was a GREAT COMEBACK for Digimon games, it was refreshing, really felt like a good Pokémon game but for Digimon and it took place in Japan and the 3D models for the humans in that game really gave the game a great sense of immersion. I don’t even remember how I got the game but I beat it as soon as i discovered it. It was really the first game I played seriously for the Nintendo Switch! Great story too!
Отличные игры 👍👍👍 В третью часть толком не получилось поиграть из за кривой локализации игры из за которой был Глюк при эволюции, а английской версии не было тогда 😢
Of these games, I played World 1, World 3, Card Battle, Rumble Arena 1, Rumble Arena 2, World Data Squad, World Championship, Cyber Sleuth, Hacker's Memory, and Next Order. World 1 was always my favorite, and even though Next Order feels like a spiritual sequel to it (as well as Re-Digitize, which came out before it, but we never got that one here in the States), it feels as though both games excel at different things. Next Order is more consistent and easier to figure out, but I prefer World 1 anyway since Next Order's recruitments aren't as memorable, being mostly combat and fetch quests, in combination with World 1 having a lot of interesting minigames that help me stay engaged. I liked World 3, but it definitely felt like a slog in a lot of areas. Early game had a lot of backtracking, and Digmon's maze is a nightmare if you have no sense of direction as is and aren't cheating by using a map. I could never complete Championship properly because my digimon would return to digi-egg form before I could properly enter them in the intended tourneys they fit the criteria for. I think Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory are agreed to be THE best ones or most accessible Digimon games, and if that is the case, I can see why. Rumble Arena 2 is more fun to me than Smash is, but I think that's because I'm burnt out on the 'smack the enemy off-screen' style that Smash, Slap City, Multversus, etc. all keep using. Wasn't there another Digimon Card Battle game that was exclusive to Japan that was the plot of World 1 but Babamon was in Jijimon's role? I don't think the video showed it? Anyway, Card Battle was fun and I really liked it, but I kinda wish it didn't have the partner card system, since that made my strategy devolve into 'armor digivolve and kill everything' for almost every battle in the game, purposely looking for my partner cards until I could.

I was impressed with the video, too. Until I realized they were using footage from other videos while claiming they’d recorded and played the games themselves.
Would like to see Agumon as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. 6 one day (another Bandaj Namco representative and a representative of the virtual pet genre, since Digimon first started as a line of virtual pets similar to Tamagotchi, and if Game & Watch count as video games, why not Tamagotchi and Digimon as well?).
My idea for a Digimon stage in Super Smash Bros. 6: Digital World Based on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. Hazards: Various Digimon that might appear on the stage, and the stage might get corrupted from time to time by Eaters.
Digimon World (1999), Digimon World: Card Battle (1999) and Digimon World 2003 (2002) are my favorites. Battle Spirits is fun too. Where is the digimon collectors?(GREE)
I think you miss the chinese digimon game android
2023 : Digimon Super rumble =)
You didnt show Digimon Super Rumble (the most actual MMORPG from move games)
Digimon World 4 . THE BEST
역시 DIGIMON RPG는 게임이 아니였어...
I wish they made a game with Cyber Sleuth mechanics but with a story a bit more as if it was like your own adventure like the anime. The story was the weakest part of those games and if the technical aspect gets improved too it would be a blast, imagine getting lost in a big open digiworld
