Older men, depression and suicidal thoughts

    My depression is crippling. Stops me from going for what I want and caring for others. I dont know how to get out of it and dont have the energy to.

    this man is so very brave, and i had no idea that many men are suffering like this - i thought it interesting how he speaks about being the provider, the hunter and so on ... and stigma's ... and losing or the feeling of losing the ability to carry on forever as such is quite hard on them

    I think the true stigma is public admission of pain, confusion, uncertainty, anger. All the feelings that accumulate around failures, losses, lack, loneliness and so on. Where do most of us turn when we have need to talk and explore? Therapy is only sometimes useful. True problem solving consultation might be more useful. Only this morning, the acknowledgement of an experienced person soothed my emotional pain. Now what.
    At the moment, suicide seems to be that choice which finally says, "I don't care what others think of what I do. I just need to change my experience, now."

    Very heartfelt and educational perspective. Only parts I could do without was the Darth Vader deep breathing at the end of every sentence and the lip smacking.
