This is Modesty’s partner here I’m posting her most recent one here as one she posted this morning isn’t showing up! I watch your channel as well😊 Well, as your snowy week enters, our’s has been and gone. It’s bitterly cold though which has made us stay at home more. I’d love some of those yummy looking doughnuts but unfortunately I have to moderate the amount of sweets and cakes I eat as I’m not one of those lucky enough to be able to work it off easily - it all goes to my tummy and backside. 😮 Embarrassingly, we’re worse than you two when it comes to new films, with The Holdovers and Showing Up being the only newer films we saw, nothing in 2024. In fact, we got so frustrated at the lack of quality being made, we rebelled and went back to the 40s throughout November. This month has been mainly Hitchcock as we managed to pick up some of the 4K sets. That’s cool regarding the growth of B&N. HMV, one of the oldest British music stores was close to liquidation before being saved by a Canadian multimillionaire. It’s now reopened many of its old stores including the famous Oxford Street store in November last year. That store alone holds 20,000 Vinyl and CDs and more than 8,000 movies. It’s quite an entertaining visit. It’s all down to the growth in physical media, with books also growing as it is your side of the pond. It’s great to see. Thanks for the vlog. Very jealous of your 4K Paper Moon (it’s not in 4K here, yet?).Take care and keep warm.
Hello. So sorry that Modesty's comment didn't show up but glad you could repost. I spent some time researching this but didn't see any reason why so it's puzzling to me. Hopefully it doesn't reoccur but thanks for letting me know so I can check for it. It's so rainy here and all of the snow (what little we had) is gone. We like the warmer days here in the winter because we get an opportunity to walk/exercise outside. Regarding 2024 films, it is disappointing that I haven't found too many new films that I can say are my favorites this year though there are a few. We also rebel and watch old favorites or old TV shows or I watch films from the 1970s (or earlier). I have only been to the UK once on business but would love to go back one day so Jessi and I can explore as I'm sure we would love it. I remember doing a tour of London on my one day off from work as well as visiting Harrods but there is so much more I'd like to see. Thanks for mentioning HMV (I'd love to go there) and so glad to hear physical media interest is growing everywhere. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. All the best to you both and hope you stay warm too.
I was glad to see in a recent trip to Barnes and Noble that they had a Kino Lorber section. I hope the AV sections get bigger (closer to what they used to be) if things are changing.
I love that Barnes and Noble are adding more stores and good to hear that bookstores (in general) are doing better. Nice to see A24, Arrow, Kino sections now in Barnes & Noble along with Criterion.
And of course some donuts too 😂. Do you two usually take a lap around the lake when you go out? I see it in a lot of your videos. It looks like a great place to walk.
Although I’m not the biggest fan of driving all the way to our local cinema to watch new releases, I still try to go with my nephews and Dad at least once a month. Yesterday afternoon we went to see Gladiator II and really enjoyed it (although, it’s nowhere near as great as the original). For me, spending that time together experiencing something we all love (film) makes my entire day ❤ We’ve already got our tickets for the Dec 29th screening of Nosferatu, so that’ll be our next movie date. When I’m not going to the movie theatre, I’m at home making the most of my Criterion Channel subscription. Last week I started watching all the Noir content it has and I think I ended up watching something like 5 films. In Canada, an annual subscription to CC is quite expensive, so I gotta make sure I’m getting my money’s worth lol
@@VanessaButtino You are so right, it is so fun spending time together watching a film. I loved going to the theater so much when I was younger but the experience has really deteriorated here (probably just the area I live in). One of the main theaters we go to here is mostly dark, empty, and very uninviting. Hoping it gets better so Jessi and I can start going back. Good that you enjoyed Gladiator II and interested to know what you think of Nosferatu. So far, my favorite film of the year is Ghostlight, a very emotional drama about family and loss. I love the Criterion channel too, so many good films to watch.
The new coffee machine is like the radiator in Eraserhead.

Totally agree that if content is changed, there needs to be a disclaimer as we used to often get on broadcast television.
Yes, I hope that there is a disclaimer at some point.

@@entcave Yes, donuts are essential 🤣 We always drive by the lake on the way home. Lots of great places to walk.
