      This is a typical polvoroner comment. The gdp for every nation will typically rise due to inflation. The bigger the inflation, the bigger the rise in gdp. Gross domestic product. If a kilo of rice cost 70 pesos now and it was 60 pesos last year, then that would be an increase of 1/7th the gdp contribution of rice. So, your comment is very ill informed. Stop the polvoron nonsense.

      Come on polvoroners. Economic growth is good. And for the last number of years, we have had that type of growth. The question is whether that growth is due to public economic growth or more on private business growth. There is still no 20 pesos per kilo rice. And everything is getting more expensive, even faster than the economic growth.

    AND THIS (from STATISTA, 01/17/24) The growth of most highly developed economies has tapered off since the turn of the century due to an already high level of economic performance. Yet, two countries that are now among the nations with the highest gross domestic product worldwide have continued their ascendancy through the ranks: INDIA and CHINA . While the former is still projected to show significant real GDP growth over the next few years, the latter's economic upturn is estimated to slow considerably, according to the most recent IMF World Economic Outlook from October 2023.

    GDP/capita ang pinaka importanteng metric of an economy's performance para sa akin di yung total GDP. Also sa mga nangangamba bakit ang taas na sobra ng total debt ng Pilipinas, well again its irrelevant. Mas importanteng data dyan is yung Debt/GDP ratio. Or yung size ng utang in relation sa size ng overall economy. And medyo ok pa Pilipinas sa debt/GDP ratio.

      @nargwhal หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@angelobandal7112 there isn't a definitive answer so I could be wrong here but I do have an opinion as to why that is. The "minimum wage" similar to other countries such as the United States has been unable to keep up with the rising cost of living and inflation because both governments typically increase minimum wage based on the cost of living a few years back instead of the cost of living in the present day. Another factor is that many Filipinos are willing to work through the minimum wage of their applied jobs which gives incentives to companies to keep wages down in an effort to keep profit margins high. Lastly, (I believe this is the biggest issue) theres not alot of high paying technical jobs available in the Philippines, and even if they are given the point above they wouldn't pay as much here as they would in other countries as we are primarily service based and not manufacturing and innovation based economy like Korea, Japan, and China on top of the nations political meltdown and policies which actively hurt the establishment of Filipino businesses, the lack of support for Filipino innovation, and the government not setting wages which reflect the current living standards.

    Yes!!!!! we are growing and will continue to grow...............but wait!!!!!!! Not the economy but our population. We always overlooked the real cause of the problem. Aside from the inflation, over population is also part of the equation. When there is too much demand due to over population, comdity prices tends to go higher (Law of Supply & Demand) and we don't have much production because of inefficient farming system and much of the productive lands have been converted to subdivision. So, our immediate solution is to import, then, we keep blaming each other on who is at fault but we tend to overlooked this issue on over population.

    BUT LOOK.....(from NIKKEI ASIA , 01/31/24) The Philippine economy FELL short of an ambitious growth target for 2023 as rising inflation and interest rate hikes dampened household spending power.
    Official data released Wednesday showed annual GDP growth came in at 5.6%, well short of the 7.6% pace in 2022 and missing a government target of 6% to 7%.
    Latest annual data falls short of 7.6% expansion in previous year
