Just to add to your section on WIFI and IP addresses you could avoid a lot of that with a Lightning to Ethernet adapter. My set up is router in Living Room --> Gigabit switch in Another Room via powerline connectors --> PC then iPhone ---> Gigabit Switch --> PC. All hardwired on a local network.
If you're sitting down doing computer-based content where you're looking at your monitor, would it be more beneficial to; have the phone at eye level but off to the side in-between your main monitor and a side monitor, have it mounted on top of the main monitor like a webcam, tilted up slightly on a stand below / in front of the monitor? I've heard you mention the first was good in one of your setup review videos, and I know some people have complained about eyes closing when looking down (ie. at a drawing tablet) with a "webcam" style mount.
Would love to know what works best too! Ive used a side mounted eye high one for a while but it does mess up the tracking when i spin my head :( Ill try out mounting it like a webcam next but i gotta find a proper mount
LOL... The shadow on your chin totally looked like a cold sore on my phone... I was like, "well that's a bold choice to add". Obviously I quickly realize I was an idiot, but this first second or two was hilarious for me. 😆
Good stuff! I will my experience as well. The style of glasses I wear messes with tracking eyebrow movement. Also, i have had no issues with mouth tracking from my glorious beard, so yay!
I wish iPhone would support single eyebrow tracking, so far no app can do that. According to the devs of those apps it is the ARKit itself preventing them from tracking left or right eyebrow separately
Advice from me. If you are planning to buy used or refurbished iPhone for tracking, don't buy iPhone X. iPhone XR is way better and costs just a little more. Don't repeat my mistake.
Hi there ! As always superbe video ! I love idea to put my phone in landscape position or upside down but Ifacial mocap is not turning. In landscape if i look right it look up ... and upside down when i look down i look up ? Do you have a solution ?
I've heard you comment about the iPhone having a dual camera making it great for face tracking, what about two webcams? It's there even an option for that?
infrared cameras that you find in Iphone and LeapMotion work in dim light, but they perform better for face and hand tracking in good lighting condition. TrueDepth camera is only good for unlocking your Phone in the darkness, but not for facial capture at high framerate
Hello Fofamit! Long time viewer, first time commentor. Thank you for all the tips for facial tracking but I do have a question. Is it possible to use the rear camera on your iphone to capture face tracking? Is it just better to use the front? I've been dabbling with it for awhile now and can't figure out if I can use the rear facing camera for Vtube studio.
Does anyone know if you can use the iPhone as ONLY a lip tracker that can be potentially used for VRChat OSC lip tracking? I'm wondering if that is possible and would love to 3D print a holster similar to the HTC Vive Lip Tracker and mount it to the VR HMD. Most of us VR users already have a headset and a large segment have an iPhone. Basically looking for a "selective portion" of face tracking to be available.
Does anyone know if the iphone facetracking issue has been resolved? I first heard that one of the recent iOS updates borked something regarding facetracking, I've tested it and I am unable to have any models in VSeeFace, VMagicMirror, and even VtubeStudio to respond using iFacialMocap or the Vtube Studio Mobile version. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all programs and made sure they are all up to date and I use an iPhone 12.
Thanks so much Fofamit. You've been invaluable with me starting vtubing. As far as I'm concerned you're like some sort of Vtuber sage. Yoroshiku!

Lots of tips here I haven't heard on any other face tracking tips video. Thank you!

I just love your videos
Some home ip addresses can be in the 10.0.0.* range, or even 192.168.1.*
Replace star with whatever number you happen to be assigned.
nice thumbnail 😳
Sponsored your own video. Pretty Giga Chad energy there, Fofa. ^_^

I don't seem to have this limitation on Vseeface.
@@Valiarah Webcam works, iPhone not. I haven't seen a single person with iPhone with separate eyebrow tracking so far.
Thank you
Any tips for wearing glasses? My Eye's on my avatar keep derpy blinking

Great vid. Do you recommend the front camera or rear of the phone cameras or doesn’t make a difference?
If you're using Meowface then the rear camera is generally better. For iphone with faceID must be the front camera.
@@Fofamit this is SUPER useful information. Thank you so much. I've been using my front camera on my Pixel 6
I've heard you comment about the iPhone having a dual camera making it great for face tracking, what about two webcams? It's there even an option for that?
I may be mistaken, but the face tracking in iphone uses an infrared emitter, so you can record your face in the dark.

No it isn't. The face tracking uses the front sensors and dot projectors.
@@Fofamit thank you for clearing that up!
should I use a router when i use a webcam or is that only if I'm using my iphone?
iphone is tracking by truedepth cam which is Infra Red and no need light at all
test how precise is tracking with light and in complete darkness and share the results with us. you will be surprised.

Nope won't work

For me, using external IP is sounds strange, is this really can happen? I don't know vtuber software, maybe you need to write your IP by hand
I worked as a tech support for about a year. most people have no idea there are separate addresses. They'll just use the first one they find
