I think I saw Pantene on the shampoo bottle. I have heard that some show people use Pantene on their dogs (or condition with it). Is it good for Havanese. I have mine a full coat and have been using Biogroom which has been o.k. I do a final rinse with “The Stuff” diluted with water about 1 part to 15 parts water as a leave in. Her coat is ok and I can get through all the tangles but a little on the dry side. I would like her to be more silky and shiny. BTW, I never cut out any mats, luckily she doesn’t get very many because I brush her daily but if I do, I spray with detangler spray and then take the comb sideways and that gently removes the dead hair causing the mat. Never go straight through with the comb as that will hurt the dog.
My Maisey is adopted and 7 yrs old. Groomer needed to shave her coat and start over. I love the curls that are there when the hair is short. How do I keep the curls? Besides keeping the hair short. I don't want to brush them out but I don't want her to get matted again. Thank you
Hi Gloria, The curls are natural. They are either there or not. You do want to brush you little one on a daily basis if possible. This keeps the hair in good shape. Thanks!
Gloria, I second what duane says. Brushing them daily is beneficial for hair and skin. These dogs don't shed because loose hair and dander is caught in their fine hair. It needs to be combed and or brushed to be removed. Their hair is to insulate them from hot weather and helps some in keeping them warm in winter. However, depending where you live, you may need to put a coat on them. They are a small breed without a lot of thermal mass. The cold can overtake their ability to stay warm. My Havi shivers when temps drop below 60 without a coat or coveralls.
What a cute dog
