I know you don't really cover Usports (Canadian University Sport), but the Usports nationals today, "Craig Thorne" of Guelph Gryphons broke a Usports record and set a time of 7.77s in the 60m hurdles. Craig is also from my home province of New Brunswick.

I cannot disagree more, IMHO... to favor another athlete's position over the others is the purest aspect of cheating. Just because you like someone, or they are perceived as superior, doesn't give them the advantage of lane choice over the rest. If you want to make it fair, make the lanes straight. If they can't run a corner, no matter the position, then they are not as superior as perceived. Take into aspect the finals and you have 3 runners who have almost identical times, who would you allow to make lane choice? Then the others would revolt over the favortism being implemented, along with their fans.

A D3 guy just broke the DIII record for 200m by a lot in the final at indoor nationals. 20.72 for Cheickna Traore. A Senior at Ramapo. Beat the old record by 4 tenths of a second. I know it's not D1 top times but that's a significant personal best on this level of racing
True, but you have to remember that this is indoors. Indoors will always be slower because of the slopes. That’s why there has only been one athlete in indoor history to break 20 seconds in the indoor 200.
this is why I could not invest my mental energy in following this sport. in most sports over the years they find ways to eliminate advantages and disadvantages. crazy that something like lane draw can have such disastrous consequences on an athlete's season. very strange

There is an art and science to sprinting the tight curves. Make your momentum, and shorter distance work for you, not against you. Tackle, and eat up the tight turn by speeding up and "slingshotting" yourself. Never slow down. You will need higher turnover, strong ankles, hips, and nimbleness. Make the shorter distance work for you, not against you.
Why would they put Lindsey in lane 3 when he had the fastest qualifying time coming in? That's bizarre. Anyway, Orogot's form looks really, really good. Love that knee lift. I'd have to put my money on him in the final.
Many want to disrespect him even though he's been an NCAA 200m champ with a time of 20.19 and finished second with a time of 20.13. Today, he ran in lane 4 and still ran the race in a time of 20.31. The runners in the other heats who ran in Lane 4 had times of 20.66, 20.67, and 20.77. Today, he had the fourth fastest time of all sixteen runners. The ones who finished ahead of him were in lanes 5, 5, and 6. Except for the two Nigerian imports, he would be the favorite tomorrow.
@Actual Random I didn't know she was that close to the indoor, but the reason I say the outdoor is. She was the first college athlete to break 22 seconds and she did this while she was only nineteen. If she doesn't break the outdoor this year, and she stays in college, it's likely she'll be in a position to break it next year.
I've been telling TRP that Udodi O was going to pass up his favorite runner Boling for several months. I was off on the timing a bit, but it's happening now.

The lane didn't have anything to do with it because his turns were textbook, he got pulled on the straights.
Its only indoor season practicing in all lanes is fine and avoiding injury on these whack tight round corners
