    I've been riding .. what 53 , 54 for those 4-5 years I was skating between 12-17. I remember using spitfires but, I hated the dirty yellow color of it. And I remember borrowing a deck from a '' Pro '' at a park who had same size wheels as me but had bones, completely white and very slim and I remember it felt so easier to flip the board. Until now at 22 I now know that there's a width to wheels at skateboarding aswell.

    something i noticed when going back and fort between wide and skinny wheels is that in order to be able to go from 7.5 up to 9 inch boards without having to fight getting back any lock-in and pinch type of trick all i have to do is sacrifice making the board heavier to keep the same grind clearance in my trucks, in other words, big boards use wide wheels and skinny boards use skinny wheels, unless i am feeling like wanting to flip absolutelly every gap, then i put skinny wheels on wide boards to get board stability and the easy flip.

  • @skankwave
    @skankwave 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I feel like narrower wheels are usually, or at least feel grippier. Wider wheels have more surface to slide so the slide is smoother and doesn't stick. Dh longboarding, when the hill is wet, ppl use narrower wheels to get more grip. Wide wheels slide like hell on wet asphalt

    Hi Ben. Long time listener, first time caller! (Second?) Can you elaborate what it is you like about Spitfire Classics? I had a set that made me feel like I sucked at skateboarding! They were slow, I had to constantly push, they stuck when I wanted them to slide, and they slipped out when I wanted them to grip. It was so bad that I actually ended up breaking a finger! So I ride some oddball, super-wide 60m 95a wheels.

      Same here its rough streets where im at but even when on smooth surface they would come to a complete stop if I stopped pushing they were so slow I sold em 2 days later.I have mini logo 95a now there good,But I wanna get some of spitfires conical full and see if there better than the classics.

    What do you think is the best durometer for street?
    Spitfire formula four 99a or Spitfire formula four 101a
    I personally have been having good luck with 101

      xX12VincEXx i use 101a for street and its good but depends on where you live. If live near crunchy ground get 99a

    • @censoredialogue
      @censoredialogue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      xX12VincEXx i’d def recommend 99a’s. i love em, they slide on any surface, and (even tho i ride 52mm’s) they’re bearable when commuting and seshing spots with reasonably rough terrain. also i love wide wheels cuz you roll over cracks and bumps way easier

    • @swcannon80
      @swcannon80 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly 85 the ride is so much better. Mine are 85 duro with 62mm and I can ride on anything. They will slide real nice if you are going fast enough. You do have to slap some risers on though. Makes ollies alot harder though but once you jump on a light deck you fly high. My poor park deck dont get alot of ride time anymore. Got mine set up exactly like winkowski on the vx primeval sunrise.

    I’m currently in the market for some new wheels and even tho I’m not tech I always want small skinny wheels. Everything is bigger nowadays from decks to trucks to wheels. Love the tag on the one transition from the first bit. Great to see some good street spots loved the direction of this video well done. My only gripe would be that i would have liked to see you compare the shapes between the brands instead of crossbrand either way it’s always good to get Vancouver skater content. We just got a foot of pow dumped on us in the prairies still waiting to shred.

      Ronnie Creager i can throw a bit about spits f4 and bones stf spf. spits 99a have no grip on wood, while spf 104a stick like glue in comparsion, i use borh in diff set up’s. All types of ramps, bowls etc, 56 spf 104a 84b bones are the good ones, on stree ledges and tricks 52 f4 radial slim 99a and concrette skateparks bowls etc, 56 f4 conical full 99a. 🤘🤘

    i wish bones would switch back to the STF formula they were using 5 years ago, when they were still putting the tread marks on the wheels, those things slid way better than any other wheel ive ever had in my whole life, and its funny because they never listed the durometer, they were just v1-v5 STF lol

    I’m digging the Bones STF 99A myself, but I’ve been a Spitfire guy for awhile now. However, the past few days I’ve been skating the new OJ 55mm Milton Martinez Elites, talk about wide. I thought I’m not sponsored, I can ride whatever I want...so I set up one board on Bones, another on Spitfires and the third on Ojs. I love riding all of them according to however I feel. They all have different trucks too! 😁 anyway, cheers! Love ur work.

      I’ve spent enough time w the trucks so I know what each can do. As far as the OJ Wheels, yes, they’re 99a’s. U can look at it like they’re a blend of Spitfire and Bones. I like them, some how they’re easier to slide on street than spitfire and bones.

  • @jamesknight3097
    @jamesknight3097 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I find the "flip speed" of your board is more of a truck weight vs wheel weight ratio issue. I feel like heavier trucks flip faster and keep that center line more stable. imagine a heavy piece of rebar running nose to tail...under your board. it puts weight near the center of mass.
    heavier wheels really slow down the flip...as the weight is farther from the spin axis. think of trying to spin a small dumbbell. the weight at the end keeps the rotation slow.
    I notices this when I went from titanium thunders to indys...as I switched from conical full to V3s. my heel and kick flips now want to double flip.
