    What a great video Gabby. Where do I get a t-shirt (to buy)? Q) is it the pipes with the red feeders that descend down from the ceiling? I am looking forward to watching some of your old videos again. Always enjoyable, informative content. Thank you!!!

      haha sorry, I don't have any Gabby Lyfe merch for sale. When I get over 10,000 subscribers I'll think about putting out shirts and stuff.
      Yeah the rooster feed gets spun inside the pipes from the middle of the chicken house to the ends. Thats how feed travels the entire length of the house. Inside the pipes is one big screw that spins.
      Glad I could help!

    Hey, I noticed you don't have slats in the middle column of the barn but you still keep chickens there. Is it important to have that area like you do or can you add slats there as well?

    • @GabbyLyfe
      @GabbyLyfe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The middle of the chicken house, also known as the "scratch", is kept open so that the chickens and the roosters can mate. They can mate on the slats as well, but in my experience, rarely have I seen this. (I guess they don't like doing it on the slats lol).
      On the other hand, the slats are important so that all the chicken waste can be safely stored away, underneath the chickens. Hens spend most of their time on the slats because that's were all the food and water are. Roosters spend most of their time in the middle because that's where their food is located as well.

      Well I've got this video that can answer your question
      th-cam.com/video/lmn6aKpqvNI/w-d-xo.html
      but the shorter answer is: There are 2 types of farms that "lay eggs"
      A broiler breeder farm has hens that lay eggs that are fertilized and those eggs are for hatching. Those chicks go to broiler farms
      A layer farm also has hens that lay eggs, but those eggs are for consumption.

    • @GabbyLyfe
      @GabbyLyfe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that is a very complex question.
      1st. Find if there is a poultry company you want to partner with and if you are already living near them or you are willing to move near them.
      2nd, See if they are willing to take on more partners, if not, find a poultry company that wants more farmers.
      3rd, Buy a new or used poultry farm after finding a poultry company to partner with.
      4th, Raise Chickens and pay your bills

    Hi Gabby we have a two 600 foot broiler breeder farm and this is our first flock. Do you have any suggestions of preventing floor eggs. Our floor egg percentage is very high at 28 weeks. Thanks

    • @GabbyLyfe
      @GabbyLyfe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best thing you can do is pick up the floor eggs early in the morning at 9am or just before you normally pick up the first pick up, then pick up floor eggs again before the 2nd pick up. And then pick up floor eggs again between 5:00-7:00pm
      Chickens will eventually learn to not lay floor eggs, ONLY IF you pick up the floor eggs every day religiously, at least 3 times a day.

    How can I tell if the roost feed is the right high or low

    • @GabbyLyfe
      @GabbyLyfe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guess and check. One morning you can be there for the feeding time and watch to see if roosters are only eating or if you see both hens and roosters eating from the pans. If you see both roosters and hens, then you know the pans are too low and you’ll have to adjust the winch system and test it again.

      Broilers growers get paid by weight of the chicken at the end. So there is more risk. For example, if a disease outbreak occur when the chicken is on the farm, then poultry company would not accept the chicken, growers wouldn't get paid after spending all the utilities expense during those months.
