Glad you figured it out. Basically, when the posterior XCP is configured correctly, the metal rod will "curve" out of the mouth. Otherwise, if set incorrectly, the metal rod would get in the way of the cheek. That's the basic reason for distinguishing between Left and Right configurations.

Yes, this is for taking a PA (Peri Apical) on the posterior. In contrast, a PA on the anterior is blue, and BW is red.
