- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening has some fantastic Mini Bosses, but it also has a few stinkers. In this video I rank each Mini Boss in the game from worst to best. Who do you think will take out the number 1 spot?

Smasher's design looked so cool that I felt bad the first time I fought him in Face Shrine and I actually didn't try that hard

You can kill smasher so fast it’s hilarious. Still my favorite mini boss though
It was such a toss up between Smasher and Master Stalfos. Smasher's one of those fights that I sometimes intentionally let play out longer than needed just because it's so much fun.

the bomb ISNT a dungeon item. you can buy it from the shop i think after beating bottle grotto.
the dungeon item of key cavern is the pegasus boots.

I would think you should make dodongo snakes one ranking higher because they have a Good design and the second time you see Them they can manover differently.

The 90s manga adaptation featured what could have been an interesting mini boss encounter in the game. After Link completes the sixth dungeon, a hoard of monsters, likely acting on the orders of the Nightmares. Release from captivity, a Cyclops like giant, different to the Hinox.
Link encounters it in some wooded area before reaching the seventh dungeon. Also in the manga, Link has a fairy companion accompanying him through his quest. She gets kidnapped while Link battles the Cyclops, and ends up in the clutches of the Grim Creeper.
Thanks for sharing. I'm very intrigued about this manga, I need to find a copy. It would have been great to see those interactions between dungeons play out in game
@@HungryHeracross Actually, shortly posting the comment, I found a manga dub of the manga on TH-cam. It doesclosely follow the original game. Though it skip two dungeons and skips two of the other dungeons bosses.

I don't exactly agree with your ranking in general, some of my favorites were at the bottom and some of my most hated were at the top, Rolling Bones just looks wrong... not as bad as Slime Eye mid battle but still, the Hydrosaur is actually a lot of fun if you know it's pattern but can be annoyingly repetitive, the Grim Creeper is way too easy if you know the secret to beating him first try 99% of the time, and the Master Stalfos is mainly contaminated by the design of the Catfish Maw for me despite being a lot of fun. The only other points I want to make are ways to improve game play for a couple of your low tiers since I have played hundreds of hours of the dungeon maker (don't ask), you can get the Gohma to open their eye by playing the Windfish song and the hookshot is the most effective weapon against them, the best way to fight the bomb snakes is to put the bomb down directly in front of them rather than throwing it (they're still a pain to fight even in the first two times), and it's easiest to fight the Grim Creeper if you stand in one of the upper corners of the room and just swing your sword(which is why I'd put him further down the list).
Thanks for the suggestions! That's a really nice call back for Gohma that I hadn't realised, will have to try it out. I think that's part of the beauty in the Zelda series, we can all have different favourites and they all make sense. I agree Rolling Bones just looks wrong, not sure why I find that appealing though. I agree Grim Creeper is disappointing easy, if it didn't have such a neat design and name it would be lower on my list. It's easy to get lost in the Dungeon Maker. It has copped a lot of criticism but I don't mind it either.

Good question. I opted to leave it out because it kind of acts as a regular enemy in the Chamber Dungeons. It can be in any room. A fun character!
The Armos Knight should've gone up a smidge because it's also guarding the secret of Koholint Island.
Thr first Hinox in the game throws bombs too. If they removed that in the Switch remake, that's on them, because the original and the DX version have that.
I'm going to flat-out disagree with you ranking Gohma high on this list. The fight is a long tedious wait for the eyes to open TWICE, and it's down to RNG as to how long a wait there is for that. I was really frustrated, the first time I dealt with them, because I didn't know anything about Gohma at the time, and my first time fighting, they just went back and forth, back and forth, charge, back and forth, etc. NO EYES OPENING. So, it was stuck there for a long time before FINALLY one of them actually graced me with an appearance of its open eye.
I have to rank Blano lower, as well, *because* I'm a player of the original game. This was *Turtle Rock,* the biggest and longest dungeon in the game. It took FOREVER to get back to that fight, if you got knocked away. They may have fixed it in THIS version, but I have a long memory, and I don't use a Switch.
I also don't like Smasher that much because he is a constant spam of picking up the ball right before you do and making the 'Ook-ook!' noise. Annoying...
I am okay with Master Stalfos.
Can see your merit behind all of those changes (maybe not Smasher because I love it). Blaino in the original was such a pain, but I did like the added challenge. If I was making the list now, I think I'd also drop Ghoma a bit for that reason. I still like the fight and design, but I agree that the RNG can be rough.

Why dodongo snakes one of my favorites your least favorite I wished they were way higher on the list.
I want to know why it is one of your favourites?
Cause I really like that you use bombs and they close there mouths when you do it in there attacking state and I really love the 3rd one cause its challenging and one of my favorite battles.
@@linkfan0542 I can appreciate that. For me it's just too slow a fight, and I really dislike the design. Having bombs eaten by an enemy is fun, but I don't think it's done as good as it could have been. But each to their own!

@@linkfan0542 They are really cool, and I think if they got to be the star mini-boss of their own dungeon, they would be more highly regarded. A great version of the reoccurring boss/mini-boss
Yeah my usually favorite mini boss \ bosses are one where I can hit it so many times.
