The respect that can come when you keep your mouth shut - interesting dichotomy. When you know that you are right, you can keep quiet. Mafia loyalty is misplaced, but there is a lesson to be learned in keeping our mouths shut.

I may be a Jaded atheist but in my opinion Michael traded the mob for Jesus despite both having the same extreme standard of loyalty which chased Michael away from the mob.
Mob: You work for us. even if your mother is dying, we call you answer!
Jesus:Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Mob: You swore an oath to us. betray it and you will burn in hell.
Michael on the subject: it is Jesus or nothing. Black or white, no grey area!
Even with all his talk about being shaken from the mob life when his dad went against him, and tolerated the hit on Michael, and that the mob life is evil because it harms families, Jesus expects the same measure of loyalty even against their own family:
Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn 'A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
And I know Michael is better than that because he has said he couldn't go against his family, he joined the mob to help his dad, left the mob to preserve his young family, and even as he left he did not betray the mob even as they placed a contract on his head.

The difference is that Jesus is worthy of his loyalty. Despite both men asking for extreme amounts of loyalty, Jesus is a deity and preached about how to live a loving life, compared to a mob who's main goal is power and money through violent or immoral means.

@@rvk1522 he may agree with you now but I find it difficult to believe that Michael, reading the bible in jail, would not have realized that this god he is reading about demands the same loyalty that got him there in jail in the first place. And I dare say Michael has turned away from those he has sworn loyalty to, usually in the name of his family. He joined a life of crime to save his father, turned away from that to protect his family, and with all the parts on the bible demanding loyalty to god over the family I am just surprised he would go alone with that. And I'd argue if anything would happen to his family it would shake his faith, in another interview he quoted the line in the Bible where it said: the sins of the father pass on to the children. And he said he begged god not to be like that and if he did punish his family Michael said he may get angry with God. Michael's life shows his loyalty is to his family, not the mafia or a god.

@@kingrichardiii6280 I don't think Michael is against being loyal. Again loyalty to Jesus and loyalty to the mob is two different things with different means. As for family, yes God demands that you are loyal to him over family, but that doenst mean he can't be loyal to both. God blesses families who share their faith together. As to the interview, can you send me a link to that please? Much appreciated. I can't answer for Michael on his devotion on his family vs God, that's something only he can answer
