My family has made this cake for decades. It is our absolute favourite!

Ingredients

2 Cups sugar
2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 Cup Coca-Cola
1 ½ Cup small marshmallows
½ Cup butter or margarine
½ Cup vegetable oil
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1 Teaspoon baking soda
½ Cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
½ Cup butter
3 Tablespoons cocoa
6 Tablespoons Coca-Cola
1 box (16-ounces) confectioners’ sugar
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Cup chopped pecans

Adding marshmallows was weird and I didn't like how the cake came out even with following the recipe to the T. Next time I am not going to bother boiling any ingredients and half powdered cocoa/half melted chocolate for better flavor. I was hoping to actually get some coca cola flavor and didn't. Here's how to make it better:
-Leave out the marshmallows
-Either do all butter or all oil, there's no point in two different fats
-Boiling adds nothing so don't bother
-Add half a bar of melted baking chocolate for a richer chocolatey flavor
-Sift in baking soda with dry ingredients, don't bother dissolving
-I recommend halving the sugar, coke has plenty sugar and melted chocolate
Guaranteed much better cake.
Overall this recipe was odd and kind of a mess. I personally did not like how it was formulated.
