Exciting being able to see this live from Grand Rapids MI. Loved how Hollyhock let Neah Bay take the lead through the last bit off ice into the canal. Wish a safe 2022 to all ships.
Another suggestion for the CG cutters would be daily updates with pictures when out ice breaking. I watch and have seen them assisting through the White Shoal Lighthouse sight but actual pics from on board would be sweat! If allowed?
I am ready for the awesome freighters to start running again! Hoping for a safe season for all! Looks like Paul S. is going to miss the start, but looking forward to his videos,as well as all of the DHC's! Thanks for this video👍🏻✌🏻
@@michaelborgelt1600 Paul is healing but still not up and around but hopefully very soon! Hope all is well with you Michael! Greetings from Wichita,Kansas,USA
The Presque Isle left Erie late this afternoon heading to Two Harbors. The Michipicoten left Erie yesterday. We still have the Saginaw and I think the Kaye Barker at Donjon Ship Building. They're waking up and on the move again.👍
The Cutter Spar which will be the new Cutter home ported in Duluth, is on it's way as well. Last I checked it was in the St Lawrence Seaway, just south of Montreal.
These Bay class tubs replaced the Arundel class 110 foot tubs. I rode the USCG WYTM 96 Chinook out of Curtis Bay Md from 1978-1980. Ice breaking duties in the Chesapeake was part of our actions.
I never knew the CG has a vessel named Neah Bay in the great lakes, Neah Bay along the shores of the west end of the Juan De Fuca straits between WA and Canada.
I heard the horn go when i was working on park point and i thought wtf how is a ship coming through right now but ive recently become very intrested in ships so im excited
So glad to see the shipping season start I live in a land locked state of Lex Kentuc KY but I love to see the big lakers God bl ess the workers and the captains of the big boats
Lol, missed the part where the Hollyhock gets stuck in the middle of the channel and has to back out, but that would be WAY too long a video lol. Hilarious though!
I never get tired of watching. I grew up watching on the Detroit River still watching all these years later.
YEAH! I'm glad the Season is going on !! To All our Sailor's be Safe, and Thank You for hauling our stuff, and keeping our Country going !
Yay! Here's to a good season - can't wait to see the big ships!

Amazing how 225ft long looks on video. Doesn't do it justice.
@EagleKeeper1916 You, on the other hand, have nothing better to do
but leave rude comments on the internet.
Welcome world. Happy spring

I grew up in Port Huron where the USCGC Hollyhock has been stationed…it is great seeing her being included in the intro to the 2022 Shipping year.
From p h also.
It's so nice to hear the "salutes" again. New season!
Here comes the sun 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Amazing how the canal seems to stay unfrozen all winter...

🤗🤗🤗saw them in the harbour, missed this!
So excited for this season to start

I have never seen the Hollyhock out of her berth. So cool!!
Heard that the ice was 5' thick in areas
Not sure what it is about this web cam but it is mesmerizing.
The Big ships will awaken from their hibernation
Sounds like the bridge horn has a frog in its throat.
I never knew the CG has a vessel named Neah Bay in the great lakes, Neah Bay along the shores of the west end of the Juan De Fuca straits between WA and Canada.
I grew up on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and am watching this video because of the name of this ship. Hurrah for Neah Bay, on the Makah Reservation.
Helped build Neah bay
I bet that is quite a story!
Another example of the fine service the USCG performs daily to promote safe waterway transit.
Semper Paratus💖💝
I'm from Port Huron, I was wondering where the Hollyhock has been.

Can Spring be far behind?
Spring officially arrived Sunday morning at 11:33am eastern standard daylight savings time. You missed it. ;)
Your footage is always so awesome. Did CN find a buyer yet for the Great Lakes Fleet?
footage?
The other ice cutter is still in Duluth for ice cutting did the spar have to do ice cutting some where else the ships are moving good in the canal
So glad to see the shipping season start I live in a land locked state of Lex Kentuc KY but I love to see the big lakers God bl ess the workers and the captains of the big boats

Stuck or holding back for Neah Bay to take on the last piece?
I don’t know for sure, took them awhile, over 20 minutes though to figure it out
