This was so wicked. A timer in a game back when we were all use to Mario games and how you just died when the timer ran out. It was like, "Ooops! Restart! Doo doo doo do do doo" But the timer in this games equals gruesome death not for but for your innocent bystander family. Yeah this game haunted me for a while ^^;
Like the original SNES Clock Tower, if they planned on any further sequels, one of the bad endings would need to be canon. Jennifer dies, David grows up and ends up going through the same horror as his dad. Or... With his family dead, Rick's inner madness consumes the entire mansion, and as a new protagonist, the mansion becomes the setpiece for the next game.
His family dies along the way throughout the game. In stage 2 (I believe) Rick's wife is being eaten alive (or is infected) by the boss. I think in stage 3 or 4 your son's toys and stuffed-animals are possessed and they and other monsters are coming after him. If you don't finish the stage in time and take the right routes, they die. The story of the game progresses slightly differently thereon.
i still play it and there were parts that scared me like when jennifer is lyng down on the floor with the boreworm inside of her or when they do a close up to her face
I always wondered that about Jennifer. First she's a redhead, then in the 2nd she's blonde AND black (in the level 7 intro) and this one her hair is black.
This would make a good movie... though, they would probably, if not definitely, have to use something other than Rick losing his entire family... I mean, I can't imagine a worse hell than losing your wife and kid to something like that.
I'm surprised at how similar this ending music is to the ending music of Splatterhouse 2. I suppose it's meant to be a dark parody of that tune, considering that you failed miserably at your rescue attempt. Kinda like getting a huge middle finger in the face.
As long as there humans suffering he will continue to exist. There will always be human suffering so Rick should just live alone because if he had David or Jennifer again they would be in harm again and again.
Rick. alone. All alone 1 year later in (The graveyard) to see his dead family some guy: hey body are you ok Rick: No am not ok i lost my family they all daed.
Oh my god... im sorry don't help you... and goodbye

Rick: "Alone... all alone... at least I still got my hands and porn"
one of the coolest horror games ever, i wish they'd do a movie of this
1:07 Definitely me because of how much I wish to see my close friends more often and hang out more often. 😕
FOREVER ALONE.

games these days would never have such sad endings. i got this ending as a kid when i played this game and it really bummed me out for a while.
forever alone
:((((
The miracle never happen.
The music is really well done.
Wow, the game really goes for the guilt angle, doesn't it?
i still play it and there were parts that scared me like when jennifer is lyng down on the floor with the boreworm inside of her or when they do a close up to her face
This ending is heavy, when i got this one i was a wreck for days. "gone...all gone..."
After the credits, the game you say "You suck! Try again!".
Rick: Alone. All alone...oh well, guess I know how I'll celebrate my victory!
*Rick throws a frat party and invites everyone to his mansion*
The endings are crude but effective.

@gronndar
I played this at 8 years old and got the "David Lives, Jennifer Dies" ending. So not entirely bad but not entirely good either.
the creaters of splatter house made it look like evil dead cause that was their favorite movie
Rick wakes up from death and jen's spirit comes back and the lived ha wait you already know
And he's young. He can find someone else and have more kids.
Finally! Solitude! I can read books for all eternity...
man, watching that, I expected to see flash up "you freken SUCK!"
Hopefully anyone who played SH1 realized this joke
@Uberskull *glasses fall to the ground and shatter*
