I hope you enjoy this video! Now that the bike is road worthy again I’m planning to put it through its paces on some trails. Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in seeing some ride videos of me trying to do mountain biking!
Hi Rich. Enjoyed watching you bring this old bike back to a new life. I've got a 30+ year old Peugeot Laser mountain bike which I'm restoring but have sent it out for most of the work as I'm like a monkey doing anything mechanical. Cheers Des P
Got my bottle of Evapo-Rust the other day. Looks like this bike is going to need it.// Yes, I'd like to see some trail rides. Good looker, your bike. Good job.
Even when new this was a terrible mountain bike. I started out with a similar ride, and the indexing on Shimano sis was terrible. I think positron probably works better :) That chain-ring might bit a little big for the front derailleur.
Yeah, it does look really odd with the 52 ring, though it does manage to shift to the big ring… when I put enough pressure on the trigger. I could maybe swap it with the SunTour triple chainset on my TRAX TR1, or just remove the outer ring and adjust the high and low limit screws to make it into a 2x7 instead? The rest of the indexing seems ok - for the moment 🤞🏻 Coincidentally, my Raleigh Pioneer uses the same groupset.

Very cool. 👍🏻
Thank you!

Sounds nice! Maybe you could share a video of it when it's done? 🙂
